Yes. Because that's when the IB is over and FPL is officially back.

Really tempted to remove Botman out for Gabriel even though the next fixture is in Newcastle’s favour.

Really don’t trust that Botman will start regardless of what Eddie Howe says in the presser.

I am not sure since I have also Trippier and 3 other defenders. If one player doesn't start, it's not the end of the world. Morris is substitute good enough this week (vs Nfo) imo.

Naturally Botman has to go if he is going to drop to 4.4, or before that happens.

Maybe a dumb question as not been following all the injury news - but who is more likely to return faster (e.g. GW10) - Botman or Estu? I assume the former but just checking I've not missed anything

3-3-3 is a fine strategy. Your enemies will be bamboozled! Before they crush you. Play Diaby. No BB this week. Everything else fine.

Cheers. He was my intended choice. Left 30 points on the bench last week with same subs, hence wonder about BB, but guess that's just part of the naturai consequence of playing a Haaland-free team so I have some agency in this!

I lived in the Solomon Islands for three years, tis a true story! On Tasahe Ridge in Honiara. I had a 180 degree view across Iron Bottom Sound towards Central Province and Savo Island. Savo is home to the Giant Megapode. Their eggs are huge and delicious.

Foden’s 2 favourite opponents are Brighton (7 returns in 8 games) and Bournemouth (6 returns in 4 games). 2 of his next 3 games.

Don’t think anyone will have him so hoping for big differential returns 🙂

            Just had a look

            20/21 - 8 Foden appearance
Owned 7 weeks, from GW5 WC - he started first 2, then 3 cameos in 5. Despite this went from 83k to 7k, so I must've been doing everything else right. Then bought him back for a FH very late in season, where he was benched lol. FH was still successful. I came 25th that season, maybe Foden cost me the title?!?!!!

            21/22 - 18 Foden appearances
3 double figure hauls, including 18pts first up... but 4 zeros and another 8 blanks

            22/23 - 4 Foden appearances
Way less than I thought, but the timing was comical... GW13 WC for 2 1pt cameos, transferred out for 2, then back in for the GW17 post World Cup reset ... for 2 more 1pt cameos.

            23/24 - 8 Foden appearances
            Every week baby!

You don't have to be "essential" to be a good pick. There's a number of slots there where I think comparably priced Arsenal assets are equal or better options.

        If I was going to WC right now it would look something like this;

        Areola, Turner
        Cash, Udogie, Burn, Tsimi, Gusto
        Salah, Maddi, Martinelli, Bowen, Palmer
        Haaland, Watkins, Alvarez

        3-4-3 with decent rotation options...

Yep. Like as many playing options as possible as a WC now means other 20/25 weeks until the next one.

Front 8 are great, like Martinelli pick to get ahead of the crowd. Maybe just Soucek over Palmer.

Now we know Robbo is out for while Tsimi should be gold (luckily Liverpool is the early game so we should have some inkling if Kloppo plays him).

I had Gusto till he got his RC. If James keeps breaking (and I think he has again, the poor bugger) than also a really good option.

Wow, just noticed only Bournemouth, Burnley & Sheff Utd have concede more goals than Brighton ... and even Luton has conceded less.

Imagine not captioning or even owning Haaland with a possible EO of 150% when Man City play Brighton.

This weekend could be season changing heartache for some 😉

They will score at least four goals, likely more. Haaland two goals at least, Alvarez and Foden in the points as well.

It appears that most that have gone without Haaland are CC’s and their followers that copy models. If this is true, for the good of the game, I hope it fails badly.

CCs are a funny bunch ... but if someone sells Haaland and get the same points with funds spread across the team without him, then no harm done ... but it's that pesky captain malarkey that then is the fly in the ointment when he gets 20 points 🙂

I think many who have gone without Haaland actually did an analysis on their team.

These have been my GW's so far.

              GW1 - Capped Haaland for his 26. OR 2.1m.

GW2 - Capped Salah. Haaland had 2 points. OR 3.4m.

GW3 - Triple capped Haaland for his meager 12 points total. OR 3m

GW4 - Capped Haaland for his 40 points. OR 2.4m. His massive haul did not do much for me...

GW5 - Capped Haaland for his 12 points. OR 1.7m.

GW6 - Capped Haaland for his 12 points. OR 1.9m

GW7 - Capped Haaland for his 4 points. OR 2.1m

GW8 - No Haaland. Took a -28 to get rid of all the trash in my team. After Saturday matches my rank was sitting at 4.7m if memory serves me correct. At the end of the GW and Haalands blank, my 68(-28), my rank jumped to 2.5m which was quite surprising seeing I did not own Haaland and my massive hit. Luckily I brought in players who were killing my rank.

Once you have done an analysis on your team, a draft without Haaland and then set it up propetly, the only way Haaland will crush you is if your the team you have has a cap fail, and majority of your players blank.

                  GW1 - Capped Haaland for his 26. OR 1.4m
                  GW2 - Capped Haaland had 2 points. OR 2.3m
                  GW3 - Wildcard - Cap Haaland - OR 3.1m
GW4 - Capped Haaland for his 40 points. OR 1m. His massive haul didn't butcher me
GW5 - Capped Salah for his 20 points. OR 316k
GW6 - Capped Haaland for his 12 points. OR 144k
GW7 - Capped Haaland for his 4 points. OR 339k
GW8 - Capped Salah for his 30 points. OR 101k

Very similar. Haaland isn't the problem. The problem is shite players doing nothing (Chelsea, Man Utd, Brentford etc)

Whether you own him or not, I don't think Haaland is a problem either.

Many with Haaland are doing well. Others are sitting in the 10m.

Who you cap and and the setup of your team, what is right for your team, no Haaland or Haaland, this game is all about numbers.

Indeed. 88.1% is an important number, as is 180%. A mega-haul this week will be akin to a well-polished boot to the goolies.

For sure it's fantatsic if you captain Haaland and get his hauls, plus captain others and get their hauls when Haaland blanks ... that is called judgement or luck 😉

If you don't actually own Haaland at all you can't do that.

If I had captained others when Haaland blanked I would be no. 1 in the world 🙂

Anecdotal examples are fun but not representative

I have captained Haaland in all game weeks except Salah in GW2 and Son in GW8 ... Overall rank is 66k

If Haaland hauls as a captain and you don't own him then you are likely to crash down the ranks because that is a huge number of points to cover by the rest of your team when all around you have his points ... you can't say that as such an extreme for any other player in the game.

And another thing, I doubt anyone who has gone no Haaland have the mindset that he won't haul. That would be quite small minded right?

But many who have capped him just about every GW wit a rank going nowhere have decided to try something different even though he will still haul.

But I guess that is a reason to have the pitch forks out or "let them burn mentality, right?

I think those selling Haaland are gambling that he won't haul because he has blanked in recent weeks ... but the reality is that he has only blanked in 3 out of 8 gameweeks and has been quite unlucky because in some weeks he could have had mega hauls.

Haaland is a sell for some yet only Salah & Watkins has scored more points than him ... I would argue that Haaland is a sell be because other players have failed ... so selling Haaland isn't the the solution, the solution is getting players that are going to score more points than others 'and' holding Haaland, which is tricky to achieve.

But, you look at the price of Johnstone, Bowen, Madds, Saka, Sterling, Alvarez, Watkins etc. and then enablers like Jensen, Neto, Diaby etc ... and having Haaland as that anchor to you team to captain makes sense and shuffling the rest of the pack to line up against the poorer teams to upside chase is the gamble to take.

Selling Haaland because the rest of your team is doing badly when there are many players at good prices that are doing better ... well, that seems counter intuitive and a false economy

                          imho

Nobody going no Haaland is suggesting it is not a risk lol so you are just repating yourself 😆

I will repeat, it is all team dependant and who you cap.

That is bit of a Strawman argument.

Of course it is a risk not owning Haaland, we all know that and I have not said other people have not recognised this ?

And yes, 11 players contribute to team points each week, it's a team game and again I haven't said otherwise.

My point is that when Haaland hauls as captain and you do not even own him then unless your players are covering his points the result is huge drop in rank. More often than not it is difficult to cover Haaland points becasue he has such a high ceiling.

Haaland, a phenomenon of the game and playing for the best team in the PL in recent years and the current champions of Europe, plays Brighton this weekend, a team where only Bournemouth, Burnley & Sheff Utd have concede more goals ... and even Luton has conceded less.

Brighton has conceded in all of their 8 games this season, 8 in the last two games and at times have been defending like the Key Stone Cops.

They may well keep City out this weekend and Haaland may well blank and continue to blank so selling Haaland will be vindicated ... but of course there are many ways to play the game.

I give a hearty 'good luck' to all, whether owning Haaland or not 🙂

There are many different ways to play the game.

A straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion, while not recognizing or acknowledging the distinction.

Well, you are misrepresenting my position, as I clarified. I didn't dispute whether it not the risk was identified or that it was a team game. The reverse actually is the case in my posts.

                                    straw man
                                    1. an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.

I have no idea whether you own Haaland or not or will be captaining him, but good luck no matter what.

It's the international break, have not been here much and I don't really follow what others say unless I am debating with them.

Genuinely had no idea if he owns Haaland or not, but I just feel selling Haaland (not doing badly overall, but below where he is expected to be) when one's own poor performance is driven by the rest of the team and not Haaland, then it seems counter intuitive to sell Haaland and not an argument that can be supported easily.

Video this week looking forward to GW10 and GW12, fixture shifts for defence and offence. Looking at questions:

What do I do with this team?

2 free transfers but nothing in the bank

A few I like the look of but not sure if they’re better than what I have: Neto/Palmer/Hee Chan, Bowen, Diaby

                  Areola
                  Cash | Udogie | Trippier
                  Saka | JWP | Salah | Gordon | Son
                  Haaland | Alvarez | Archer

                  Neto | Kabore | Lamptey | Archer

                    You got 2 Archers.

I would want Diaby from next week.

Probably only the Newcastle game at risk which is an issue when 2 of my fit 4 defenders are playing for them
