Chelsea fixtures half decent for rest of season. And they should have two doubles so I'd go with Gusto.

Note that James is back on the grass. I don't think he'll be fit for a little while yet but a factor if thinking about GW34/37 doubles.

It looks like you a play a non FH GW29.

      So Hwang has to go.

Maddison as he play against Luton GW30 or KDB to Son as well.

Myself personally there is not much upside in the numbers for GW29, but attacking players, as I cant see many CS.

This is going to be a long post, but hear me out and please engage.

I am not a content creator or any FPL genius, I am but a servant the great game. I know a lot of the content guys are maybe thinking this stuff but I wanted to articulate it in a way I haven't heard before...

    Question:
Is there some flawed logic in thinking that taking multiple hits to get a team for 29 is equivalent to or better than a free hit? My argument also considers the common idea of dead ending in, and then wildcarding out of 29.

    The perceived benefit:
We preserve the WC/FH planning for/in 34 or 37, to build the strongest team possible and use BB when it best suits.

The risks... best explained in this common scenario
You have 3-4 players for GW29 (let's say, for argument's sake they are Areola, Doughty, Watkins and maybe Toney)... Let's say you are happy to field 10, so need 6-7 more players and we will say that two of those are Son and perhaps Porro or Udogie (good assets you want anyway), and bring them in this week or next on FTs.

I would GUESS, the remaining FT people will have, considering the want for Solanke/Senesi or even Tavernier/Kluivert for the DGW, is one at the most.

So... I would say most people are starting at a total of -12 or 16 to come up up with a passable team that would contain the template dudes you have + the ones you actually want longer term.

If you pick wrong.. and the 4 'fillers' theoretically ALL blank (and if defenders get cards or goals conceded)... you are in the hole ~10 points.

Remember that each player has to get an average of 4 points to cover you, right? From players from teams you may not trust/are not reliable FPL assets

So if you FH and fill your boots with 15 guys who can score and you get lucky, great, could be a massive week. If you hold some template players, and they do well, then great, you lose nothing.

Fast forward to GW34/37 (the former, we do not even know how it pans out)... you want some high quality doublers OR even doublers from less reliable teams.

Does it not make infinitely more sense to cop a -4 on a player who, provided they start both fixtures, hopefully breaks even?

That is to say, I think we are more likely to derive points from a good player from a good team who is doubling OR conversely, minimise the impact of the hit on players who simply Get 4 points and blank...

So if player A) plays in 29 and blanks, but you took a -4 to get them simply to get to the 9-11 players... you lose. If the same player blanks in doubles and you took a hit to get them in the double, you lose no points (and may god have mercy on your soul).

Maybe I am missing something, but my battle to plan for 29 has failed and maybe I am trying to convince myself a FH is the best move probability wise.

Understand and agree with a lot you’re saying. And if you’re taking multiple hits to scramble 8/9 players, then I think you’re right.

I think the value in saving the free hit in 29 for someone like me (six players, seven if Kabore was to regain his place) is that I can get to a competitive 10 with the key assets (Son, Bowen, Toney, Watkins) for -4 overall.

If I wildcard in 31, I’ll be able to prepare for the home straight, including BB37 and use the FH on 34 when there could be lots of doubles for teams I don’t want players from for the rest of the season. I’d like to think a strong FH34 far outstrips a FH29 for me.

Ultimately - and this is why it’s a cliche, it’s true - it’s down to your individual set-up... there is value in both approaches!

If I had 6 as it stood now... I would not free hit. not a chance. But I think people get caught up in these fever-pitched ideas and forget it's a game THEY need to play

Absolutely. The herd mentality is strong, as is the aggression with which some people assert how their approach is the right one (and how others are supposedly wrong). It’s healthy to have different ideas and to discuss them!

I only have about 2 players for GW29.
And coupled with the fact I plan to bring in triple Bournemouth for GW28, it's far easier just to FH in GW29 just to get a score in the bag.
The other option seems inferior for a couple of obvious reasons:

      a) No way any of those players in GW29 are long-term.
      b) Allows flexibility to use WC whenever necessary, likely behind a large DGW for a BB,
      c) Does not allow triple BOU GW28 without hits,
      d) Building up to making a playable team for GW29 will also cost about 4 hits at least (-16).

My thoughts too, Brentford aren't playing well and Palmer could easily haul. Thinking Solanke may be ok to play but he's carrying an injury/knock so who's to say he lasts the game.
I could make an argument for both of them though.

I'm in the same boat. Even a semi-fit Solanke might run riot over godawful Burnley, but I still think I'm starting Palmer as I'm afraid Solanke might just come on for a one point cameo and block Palmer's bench points. I wish his coach had just ruled him out of this match...

I'm tempted to try a differential, the way United shut up shop Vs Liverpool. Looking at Watkins though

Really sorry to do this but I’m just in…

but would anyone be able to summarise any team leaks from this morning (if there’s been any)?

            Thank you!

I'm starting Virgil and Doughty. Need a 3rd defender out of these, what would you do?
