The Big Numbers – Gameweek 25

First up this morning, we look to the Opta data and cast an eye back to some of the standout stats over Gameweek 25 matches.

Taking the upcoming Gameweek 26 and 28 schedules into consideration, we check out some midfield candidates from West Ham, Everton and West Brom, while assessing Sadio Mane’s season after his return sparks Liverpool back into form and kicks off a huge midweek bandwagon.

Elsewhere, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexis Sanchez serve a timely reminder of their talents ahead of upcoming blanks for Manchester United and Arsenal, and we also look into Diego Costa’s recent drop in form ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Swansea City.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Southampton have 15 midfielders in fpl

For sure. Watching the West Ham game from the stands we didn't get near City once. Their dominance in midfield and ability to keep the ball is fantastic. Talking to a fella who went to Goodison (Everton fan) and he said despite losing 4-0 City were so dominant.

That's what he said. I didn't watch the game but he said they're passing etc was superb. Everton also only had 4 shots the whole game.

I got Sanchez at 11.9 and he is now 11.8. With further price descreases due to a blank GW26, Liverpool away in GW27 and a probable blank GW28, is it worth selling him to Hazard or maybe even Antonio. I only have 6 GW28 players at the moment so that why I am considering Antonio. Thanks

i bought Sanchez for 11.8 and i'm looking to sell for Hazard tonight to avoid price drop and Hazard price rise. I have 8 players for GW28 and one FT still to take this week, so it isn't so important for me to load up on Gw28 players as yourself.

But i would be looking to off load Sanchez.

Hi All, need some help here as Jesus decided to utterly F*£K me lol

    Pickford/Foster
    Holgate/Alonso/Coleman/Brunt Holdate Amat
    Alli/Siggy/Sánchez/Morrison Clayton
    Ibrahimovic/Costa/Jesus

I have 1 FT im thinking.

    Downgrade Siggy to Snoddy
    Upgrade Jesus to Lukaku.

Im behind first place who has Lukaku, so ii feel i need to get him in even if its for a -4.

    Then Next week...

Upgrade Lukaku to Kun for a differential?

Or i could just do Jesus to Caroll for free

Has anyone ever NOT used a wildcard, or would ever consider it?

Seems a bizarre thing to say but picture this.

    - You get along with plans to use it for DGW's late on in the season, taking the occasional hit.
    - Turns out you've managed to get almost a full team of DGW players. (Let's presume you've used bench boost)
    - Get to DGW take (max) a 4 point hit to get the team you want.
    - Because of this you don't use wildcard
    - Team looks good for remainder of season.
    - Last GW of the season you do it because why wouldn't you.

I suppose this kind of situation would only happen at either end of the spectrum, so one or two double games, hence it's easy to get 6/12 players in. (If you wanted, not always the best solution).

Or failing that where everyone has a DGW (Possibly this year), naturally whoever you transfer in would have a DGW anyways.

Definitely more of a theory for the casual player as a lot of us have < 3 assets from United, City and Arsenal, let alone whoever blanks in GW28.

Last season I foolishly went punty around Christmas with the plan of using my WC before the new year but hadn't read the rules properly and the deadline was the gameweek before the new year so I effectively lost it and became a casual player for the rest of the season... I think I used my second WC in January to make up for it but missed out on most of the DGW nonsense... last year was a complete blur

If you can put out a maximum of 9 players this GW and only 1 FT, are you taking a hit to field 11?

Have a lot of money invested in that man, not so much Ibra.

Was thinking of doing a striker merry-go-round if no fixtures for Kane / Costa / Ibra on 28.

Like Ibra -> Costa, then Kane -> Ibra, then either Ibra or Costa to Niasse (ok maybe not that one, might just sort my defence out instead).

I suppose the logic of taking a hit if I can only field 9 is okay though, assuming appearance points will cover it.

I guess it's a trade off between value & returns and hits do impact returns. Transfers are also important and losing a player you'll need next week takes 2.

Just to add to Andy's hot topic on Heaton, hear a lot saying he a fire and forget keeper but he's actually performed better against bottom half opposition than top half. Played 11 against top half (51pts) and 11 against bottom half (55pts).
Also the top half scores include a random penalty save and that match at Old Trafford which still leaves followers of stats waking up in a cold sweat of incredulity. 3 of his next 4 fixtures are against the bottom 6

When choosing a Sanchez replacement would you prefer a big hitter such as Hazard who will most probably miss GW28 or someone such as Barkley or Antonio who aren't as good but play GW28?

I am looking at this too. Think it comes down to:

      a) what Hazard or whoever could do pointswise in one less game than say Antonio/Siggy who has no blanks
      b) How people are already set for GW28 assuming only those games known go ahead
      c) Chasing or leading in a ML can also have an impact on decision making.

Personally think I will go with Siggy but next week after Chelsea away as I am poorly set for GW28

Also take care that the replacement should score equivalent to the two transfers you are spending over the hokey-cokey. I effectively try to view even my FTs as 4 points which helps in making decisions at a time like this.

Barkley or Antonio for me, unless your strategy is to have enough other playing GW28 players and can bench Hazard GW28 and still get out a decent team. Ultimately will Barkley or Antonio get more points in 3 games than Hazard in 2 games, and do you intend to keep Hazard instead of Sanchez after GW28 ?

Thanks! Quick follow up. This is a tough one. Best striker under 6.9 with gw 26, 28 and the fixtures afterwards in mind? Need to replace Anichebe, my worst trade ever!

Now that I have Jesus to replace I'd love another GW28 fixture besides the guaranteed three we already have otherwise i'm probably bringing in the big AC.

Is "bringing in the big AC" the FPL equivalent of "jumping the shark"?

Sticking by well owned players, captaining the "safe" pick (usually a high owned player in form)

If your plan works... that is Costa scores big against Swansea, say a brace or a hat trick, will you have the bottle to transfer him straight out against West Ham?

I can field 11 next week but have Sanchez Amat Diomande on bench so a little risky, no sub if some surprises
    4.1 m itb and 1ft.
    A) Sanchez to Mane or someone who plays gw28
    B) Phillips to Mane or someone who plays gw28
    B) Amat to Maguire to prepare for blanks+good fixtures
I will wait of course after cup games but what is your first thought here?

    Heaton, Jakupovic
    Alonso, Coleman, Brunt, Chambers, Wilson
Sanchez, Eriksen, Alli, Phillips, De Roon
    Ibrahimovic, Costa, Defoe

    1FT, 0.7 in bank

    A) Eriksen / Alli ---> Mane

    B) Save FT

If you have a superstar coming in instead of someone like Phillips/De Roon or something worse. Easy to get him back before DGW. I think I will just bench since got him at 11.0.

      1. roflmaofc
        • 11 Years
        7 years, 2 months ago

you will get 11.4 in selling value then? And by gw28 he will be under that value for sure.

        1. VS10_
          • 8 Years
          7 years, 2 months ago

No he won't. Probably 0.2m drop this gameweek. Then no one will sell next gameweek. Then GW28 if only a couple of fixtures go ahead people will just keep him, so maybe 0.1m drop.

He will drop 0.3 this gw.. Just wait and see after FA cup are done and everyone knows hes not playing 28

Possible yes, but if likes of Mane or Hazard don't play 28 then it won't be a mass sell.

If your teams demands him out do it, if not hold. I have Sanchez bought at 11.1 and Sanchez/Lovren to Hazard/Alonso keeps keeps nagging me to be done even if it means struggling to get Sanchez back in.
