Sky Sports Focus

The build-up to the weekend’s action continues with our Sky Sports Focus article, where we take a look back at the weekend action before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 37 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
West Brom vs LiverpoolMatt Phillips
Watford vs Crystal PalaceJames Tomkins
Arsenal vs West HamAlexandre Lacazette
Stoke vs BurnleyJack Butland
Man City vs SwanseaKevin De Bruyne
Everton vs NewcastleTheo Walcott

Kevin De Bruyne was the big name to deliver this week. The fourth most owned player in the game (32.4%) was also heavily captained on Sunday and brought home 13 points.

It’s now a clear two-horse race for the most MoTM awards, with the Belgian just one behind Mohamed Salah, who sits on 11.

That total has often been the maximum reached by one player in a Sky season and, with only a few more matches to go, it will be interesting to see if either player can surpass this milestone.

Gameweek 37 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 50 points or more in bonus for the season.

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options from now until the season ends.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form to offer Fantasy managers a nudge in the right direction.

Notes

I’m spent, all out. I have no further transfers remaining.

In some ways, it’s liberating, in others terrifying.

The allure of old favourite Aaron Ramsey was too much to resist, so he and Raheem Sterling came in for the benched Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Pascal Gross.

It was nice to see my bravery rewarded, with the Welshman picking up 11 points and Sterling bagging eight and both were unfortunate not get to more, in my opinion.

Ramsey narrowly missed out on MoTM, while Sterling had two assists taken from him – one due to a slight deflection and another courtesy of a penalty miss. I can only presume that the MoTM would also have followed.

But it wasn’t to be, and I had to make do with a respectable 61 points and a jump in rank by 30 places.

With just three Gameweeks to go, I’m in touching distance of the top 100.

Now I just have to hope I get lucky with injuries from here on in to have a chance of reaching my goal.

Captain Plan

Sat 28th April – Mohamed Salah
Sun 29th April – Raheem Sterling
Mon 30th April – Harry Kane

If Salah plays...how can I not bring him back 😮 😮
    He'll definitely play 37 and 38 too...and I'd captain him in 36 and 38.
SURELY it's a no brainer at 'all costs'...

(I'm 30pts ahead in ML, he's got WC, BB and TC - I've just got TC37)

    DDG
    Vertonghen Christensen Lowton
    Mahrez Son Lingard Milivojevic
    Kane Jesus Barnes

    (Ryan Lingard Chilwell Alonso)
    _
    A. The No Salah plan (-8 or -12)
    36: Mahrez > Sterling (-4)
    37: Willian > DSilva (maybe Christensen > Smalling/Jones -4)
    38: Alonso DSilva > Salah(c) 4.8 def (4.5 if Smalling in) (-4)
    _
    B. The Mo Salah plan (-12, but possibly more)
    36: Mahrez Willian Alonso > Salah Sterling 4.5 (-12)
    37: Christensen > Smalling / Jones
    38: punt
    _
Going without Salah, to gain a David Silva and Marcos Alonso DGW doesn't seem overly clever in the context of captaincy...
Short term pain, long term gain?!

As a Salah owner, I would be delighted if everyone tore up their teams and gave me 4/8 points on them.

Realistically, you had reasons behind shipping him in the first place (I can't imagine what they were?!). Do those reasons still exist? If so, why would you change your approach? If not, why not?

      1. Legomane
        • 7 Years
        6 years, 5 days ago

i took him out on wc 33 because:

        33: confirmed out injured
34: no guarantee he'd be risked and no DGW
35: could buy back on FH
36: assumed incorrectly top 4 place would be secure and he'd be rested pre Semi 2nd leg
37: no DGW, just chelsea away
38: always intended to bring him back and captain

it's obvious what's changed from the above! took a risk based on a number of high percentage factors, and it's come back to bite. no way i'd consider buying him this week without captaincy factor... mane and ox injuries too

        1. Going Home
          • 12 Years
          6 years, 5 days ago

Well if you plan to get him back in 38 anyway, assuming that would be for free, you're basically asking him to pick up 12 points more than, say, Mahrez, and half of Kane's points v Watford (assuming you captain Kane) across this week (as captain) and next (not as captain). Seems a long shot, but not impossible

Fair enough - imo nobody at Chelsea (or United or Arsenal (Auba aside) for that matter, or City for different reasons) is 100% sure to start two games in a week with big cup games coming up.

As a poster above said, his form had been pretty poor before the red and that hadn't gone un-noticed by Conte

Yeah, three weeks, and only a couple of weeks after the DGW. I can't see Conte/Jose etc. running the risk of players being overworked.

Plus the issue about Alonso's form remains, especially if his replacement looks tidy again at the weekend

Couple of weeks gap = overworked? Players should only start once in 3 weeks in the PL then. Since even a couple of weeks' rest isn't enough according to you.

Are you assuming that they all get rested for GW38? If not, I don't get your position

I would be surprised if any Chelsea/Arsenal/United player starts all of their four league fixtures and their cup fixture. Granted, Alonso has the "advantage" that he won't play this week; but even after that its four games in a fortnight - it's a risk (especially as he has been poor in recent weeks pre-suspension)

IMO it's far too late in the season to be racking up huge hits as the chances of getting the points back is slim.

And unless Flappy has dual ownership, he is definitely just a Swansea keeper

I think Fab easily outscores Adrian from now til end of the season who is only playing this week because Hart is ineligible, so therefore the hit is justified

Basically been moving between azp Valencia and city defs.

            Azp doesn’t do clean sheets
Valencia would mean double utd and city players bound to be rotated

My team seemed good for dgw 34 and it sucked and now I'm stuck with it. Any help, mainly bringing Salah in?

    De Gea - Ryan

    Christensen - Vertonghen - Morgan - Lowton - Dunk

    Mahrez - Willian - Son - Lingard - Albrighton

    Kane - Lukaku - Barnes

1 FT, 0.2 itb. Willing to take a hit or two if necessary. Cheers!

        Conte on Cahill 😮

"We are talking about an important player for Chelsea and the national team," he said. "He has great experience.

"Now he is playing in the middle and is playing very well. I have the opportunity to make the rotations and try to make the best decision game by game.

"I think Christensen is playing an important season and now it is right to give (Cahill) an opportunity to play more."

Apologies if already posted. Don't see this in team news or scout tweets.

"Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that left-back Danny Rose is set to return to training with the rest of the squad on Saturday."

Guess this means Davies safe for this week but rotation concern for 37.

How to get Salah into below team:

        De Gea Pickford
        Schindler Lascelles Baines Lowton Naughton
        Mane Shaq Arnie Sterling Zaha
        Kane Jesus Mounie

I have 0.9 in bank so not enough for straight swap with Mane.

Also, do I even need Salah as could just get Alli or Son for Mane.

I have a couple of thoughts but interested in the thoughts of you experts.

        Thanks in advance

Yes that was my thought too I am just not sure whether Salah is necessary as next week he only has Chelsea away when someone like sane or eriksen has easy couple of games.
Maybe get Salah this week, for hit, then remover next week for someone with better fixtures.
Only reason doing this is that all of my competitors in ML have Salah. Then again, not having him is decent differential.
