Premier League fixtures announced for 2018/19

The Premier League fixture list for 2018/19 was released today at 9am, giving Fantasy managers an early idea of which teams to target in the opening few Gameweeks.

Manchester City’s initial fixtures particularly stand out: the reigning champions begin with an away trip to Arsenal before they encounter all six of the sides promoted from the Championship over the last two seasons.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea only meet one of their fellow “big six” clubs in their opening half-dozen fixtures, meanwhile.

Newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers (EVE, lei, MCI, whu, BUR, mun) and Fulham (CPL, tot, BUR, bri, mci, WAT) have mixed starts, while Cardiff City have a decent trio of matches (bou, NEW, hud) to begin with before their fixtures toughen considerably: the Bluebirds then face six of last season’s top seven in their subsequent seven matches.

Wolves and Cardiff also have tricky-looking final-day encounters away at Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.

Southampton and Everton assets might be among those to consider in the opening months of the season: they are the only two clubs not to play any of last season’s top six sides in the first five Gameweeks.

      I really think MaxCap is better utilized in the later rounds, where you don't have the opportunity to switch your captain around much.

      I'm gonna BB week 1 as my bench have good fixtures.
      MaxCap in the final where I only get one shot at the captaincy and most teams will be similar.
      WC before GW3 if I feel rotation might be a problem, otherwise save for before QF or SF where I might lose a lot of players.

        Trouble with MaxCap in the final is you are picking a captain from one game. It could very well end with no one in double figures.
        I'd rather do it when I have multiple choices of players who can get double figures.
        GW1-4 for me.

          But you have 4-5 opportunities to get this right in weeks 1-4. You only get one shot in the final, or two shots in the SF. These are weeks where captaincy is all that will really set teams apart.

          You get two shots in the final with MaxCap as it includes the 3rd/4th place play-off as well.

        Dalsgaard is more nailed to play the first two games, and decent fixtures too against Peru and Australia. France obviously have the same two opening fixtures but Sidibe could be back for Peru.
        Denmark have kept four clean sheets in a row (against Panama, Chile, Sweden and Mexico), so I'm backing them to get at least another one.

    I'm thinking of going Bench Boost right from the off. GW1

    GW3 would be a no go for obvious reasons and the games become tougher after the group stage.

    Anyone else going straight in with a BB in the 1st 2 GWs so to speak.

      As our budget increases by 5 mul, round of 16 is the best bet i reckon. Round 3 is a 100% no go. Round of 16 better than round 1 I guess

        My only issue would be that it will be a higher quality of player you need to buy given the budget teams will likely have been eliminated. That 5m might not go all that far.
