Sane benched but Aguero and Sterling start in City’s first DGW fixture

The first of two Manchester City matches in Double Gameweek 25 kicks off at 16:30 GMT this afternoon, with Arsenal the visitors to the Etihad.

Leroy Sane (£9.8m) has been benched for only the second time in 13 Gameweeks, though Raheem Sterling (£11.3m), Sergio Aguero (£11.4m), David Silva (£8.5m), Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£9.7m) all start.

Danilo (£5.1m), John Stones (£5.2m), Riyad Mahrez (£8.3m) and Gabriel Jesus (£10.0m) are among the substitutes for the hosts.

Sane was the second-most-popular triple captaincy choice of this Gameweek, with 26,429 Fantasy managers using this chip on the German winger.

Aguero and Sterling were the first and third-most-popular choices for the triple captaincy this weekend.

City still have Everton to face at Goodison Park on Wednesday, of course.

Pep Guardiola’s formation is still to be determined, with City’s line-up missing an orthodox left-back and seemingly set to use Bernardo in a wide role.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.3m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.2m) are once again paired up front for Arsenal today, with Unai Emery reverting to a wing-back system for the trip to Eastlands.

Mesut Ozil (£8.0m) is joined by Denis Suarez (£6.5m) on the away bench, with Laurent Koscielny (£5.4m) returning from injury in defence.

Granit Xhaka (£5.3m) misses out with a slight groin problem.

Manchester City XI (4-3-3, tbc): Ederson, Walker, Laporte, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Silva, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Sterling, Aguero.

Arsenal XI (3-4-3): Leno, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Kolasinac, Guendouzi, Torreira, Lichtsteiner, Iwobi, Lacazette, Aubameyang.

Yeah, it's a bit wonky how they do that. Basically, if the top-2 are, in fact, top-2, with nobody tied with BAPs, the third place can be a free-for-all. Otherwise, second can be, as well (and, I suppose, first, as well if three or more players score the same).

Right, that'll be KdB coming off the bench for a 1-point cameo in midweek, me selling him and him bagging a brace in the next match.

With Aguero coming off in the 80th minute, shall we look at that as a sign of getting him prepared to start vs Everton?

Sane came off early against Newcastle, his ass is nailed to the bench...so no.

Personally I think it'll be Jesus against Everton, save Aguero for Chelsea

Everton is as important as the Chelsea.
City could, potentially, go top, if they beat Everton.

He may get 70 mins, however.

47 with KdB (c) and with Robertson, Salah, KdB and Danilo (or Ings, ugh) still to go. Looks like I'm very much on for the 60 points I predicted before the GW started even if the points distribution will be a bit different than originally anticipated...

I'm not very good at FPL, perhaps I should just get the Aguero's and Salah's instead of experimenting with Joshua King and Kevin de Bruyne when no good players have them.

do you think Arsenal have improved compared to the wenger era??
I still see a lethargic defence and less than creative midfield and same losses ,there maybe some improvements but still look like as hapless now as they were last season.
