Gameweek 26 Scout Picks – Liverpool and Man United backed for big wins

We are backing Liverpool to return to winning ways in Gameweek 26 as Bournemouth come to Anfield.

That’s why defensive and attacking assets from Jurgen Klopp’s men make it into the Scout Picks this weekend.

We are set up in the traditional 3-4-3 formation for Gameweek 26, and at £81.3m we are £2.2m inside our budget.

Goalkeeper

With votes from three of our pundits, Crystal Palace man Vicente Guaita (£4.2m) gets the nod in goal this weekend. The Eagles’ home defensive record this season is still only bettered by Liverpool and Chelsea, while West Ham are yet to score an away league goal in 2019, their last one coming at Southampton back in Gameweek 19.

Defenders

Andrew Robertson (£6.8m) remains our go-to Liverpool defensive option ahead of Bournemouth’s visit to Anfield. The Cherries have been woeful away from home in recent months, losing their last seven road trips by a combined score of 20 goals to three. Just one of those goals scored has come in the last five of those, which bodes well for Liverpool in their hunt for a first clean sheet since Gameweek 22. With Bournemouth’s recent defensive struggles away from home, there could be attacking returns on offer for Robertson too. No defender has more touches in opposition penalty boxes than the Scottish international in the last four matches.

The Scout Squad are hoping that Matt Doherty‘s (£5.3m) FA Cup heroics against Shrewsbury Town were the warm-up for a star performance against Newcastle on Monday night. His prolonged presence in the final third continues to promise attacking returns, while the Magpies have been particularly shot-shy away from home. In the last four matches on the road, Rafa Benitez’s men are bottom of the league for goal attempts inside the box, efforts on target and total big chances. A second consecutive clean sheet at Molineux looks likely for Doherty and his defensive colleagues.

Sead Kolasinac (£5.0m) completes our trio of full-backs likely to earn points at both ends of the pitch in Gameweek 26. Arsenal travel to a Huddersfield side currently bottom of the league for big chances over the last four Gameweeks, with only West Ham registering fewer shots in the penalty box than them in that time. Meanwhile, left wing-back Kolasinac has the joint-second highest number of touches in the opposition penalty area among defenders since Gameweek 22.

Midfielders

Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) gets back into the Scout Picks once again, chosen as the best midfield option by three of our pundits. Peter was the only one to put him in second place. The Liverpool man should benefit from Bournemouth’s recent poor away form, as they have conceded an average of 2.85 goals per game in their last seven on the road. No team has allowed more big chances in the last four away matches as Eddie Howe’s men.

Son Heung-min (£8.8m) has been boasting remarkable consistency in FPL over a long period of time now. Since Gameweek 13, the South Korean has averaged 9.2 points per appearance. It has become impossible to ignore the Tottenham man now, especially as he continues to have his place in the side guaranteed by ongoing injuries to Harry Kane and Dele Alli. Leicester come to Wembley Stadium having shipped plenty of chances away from home recently, just three sides have allowed more in the box over their last four road matches.

Paul Pogba (£8.7m) looks set for a strong showing in Gameweek 26 as Manchester United travel to face Fulham. The Cottagers have not made many defensive improvements under Claudio Ranieri and are second worst for shots conceded in the box during their last four home matches. Meanwhile, Pogba is still joint-top of the league for shots on target over the last four Gameweeks, having registered more efforts on goal than any other player in that time. With some creativity to his name over that period too, goals and assists are both likely at Craven Cottage.

James Ward-Prowse (£5.1m) is our chosen representative from Southampton this week as they host a Cardiff side typically poor away from home. The Bluebirds are susceptible to set pieces too, in which Ward-Prowse remains involved for the Saints. He has three goals in his last four matches and has created more chances than any Saints player in that time.

Forwards

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.3m) comes into the Scout Picks for Gameweek 26, deputising at the eleventh hour for his colleague Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The latter was originally going to be included in spite of his recent illness but his absence from the training pictures on Friday have left enough doubt in our minds to select Frenchman Lacazette instead. As already mentioned, the Terriers have allowed a large number of big chances in their last four home matches, which should provide the right amount of opportunities for Lacazette to secure a points haul.

Marcus Rashford (£7.8m) completes a Manchester United double-up to fully capitalise on Fulham’s defensive frailties. We’ve already covered how vulnerable they look ahead of Gameweek 26, still the most scored-on team this season having shipped 55 goals. Rashford is joint-top of the league with Pogba for shots on target over the last four Gameweeks and has blanked just once since Gameweek 20.

Raúl Jiménez (£6.7m) looks set to continue his rich vein of form when Newcastle come to Molineux on Monday night. The Wolves man has four attacking returns in his last three outings, offering a healthy balance of creativity and goal threat. Meanwhile, the Magpies have not travelled well in their last four away matches. They are joint-bottom of the league for big chances conceded in that period, level with Bournemouth.

Substitutes

Jan Bednarek (£4.0m) still offers decent value for his owners and is worth considering for a place in the starting XI in Gameweek 26. Cardiff come to Southampton with the fewest away goals of any side in the league this season.

Pascal Groß (£6.7m) has jumped back onto the Fantasy radar in a big way after creating a whopping 10 chances against Watford last time out. With Burnley the next visitors to the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon, two of our Scout Squad pundits included him in their submissions.

Fernando Llorente (£5.7m) has had more penalty box shots than any other player in the Premier League in the last four Gameweeks, despite playing just 219 minutes in that time. We think he’ll be back in the starting line-up against Leicester on Sunday after improving Spurs from the bench in their win over Newcastle.

Community Champion

Representing the community against the Scout Picks in Gameweek 26 is Pep pig. They have opted for a 3-4-3 formation of: Ryan; Duffy, Kolasinac, Koscielny; Martial, De Bruyne, Son, Salah; Aubameyang, Firmino, Murray.

The community member who beats our picks by the biggest margin over the campaign will win a £100 Amazon Voucher and a place in our Contributors and Moderators League for the following season.

The Scouts were defeated in Double Gameweek 25, Joax2 winning by a 86-56 scoreline.

fclackless‘s winning margin of 33 points (77-44) in Gameweek 10 is the current target to beat.

Just my opinion but it’s his place to lose atm. One of those where a few bowlers and he could be out. Thought I read Howe and Bego had a rift so that might have something to do with the change of keepers

If this is true, im screwed this gameweek!

"Victor Lindelof was not spotted with the rest of the Manchester United squad that travelled to London on Friday, suggesting he has been given the weekend off ahead of next week's tie with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. [...] Marcus Rashford, who suffered a dead leg last weekend, could make way for Romelu Lukaku, while Anthony Martial, who is fit again after injury, should also come back into the XI"

Its nothing but a qualified Guess from the writer, but none the less worrying.

Been a few days since the Scoutcast and don’t want to rehash it all, but honestly the comments from you guys and some of the messages I’ve had on Twitter have been really, really special.

Great community we have here, so pleased that so many of you could relate to the mental health chat we had on Tuesday. I was honestly not expecting so many people to message me with words of support and understanding.

All the best for the weekend guys! 🙂

If it effects you that hard, you should take a break.

Gambling is fun as well from time to time, but when it affects your personal life, it becomes a bad habit. And if you vant acknowledge that, your an addict.

Sorry to say so. But the need of a mental health talk in scoutcast just shows that your in TOO deep

Imo a mental health talk should never - ever be a part of the scoutcast. Unless IT is a part of recommending people who are in too deep take a break and focus on what is really important: Their health, job, family etc.

Im not being negative. Im being constructive.

Would you tell me im being negative, if I encouraged one to stop drinking or at least take a break because it affected ones personal life (mental health/physical health/Work/family etc)?

Im not saying FPL is a bad habit in general. But IT definetely is if it affects your mental health etc.

          Whats so negative about that?

I'm quite interested in mental health issues as I'm totally bonkers and do get a bit down on stupid stuff like FPL and losing bets etc. It's a common theme that 1/4 of all folk suffer or will suffer mental well-being issues in our lives. I think this number is way too low in my experience.

I'm more interested in psychopathy as a study, and I also think the stats are skewed in that department of folk: "Them" that commit the most insidious crimes against their fellow human beings, that seem to do especially well in the finance, political and law sectors of our society need special attention. In particular their agents that work in the intelligence communities and have high rank status in the armed services and our controlled media that seek to create false narratives and mind control no less.

The Royal Family are paying more interest to mental health issues now you may of noticedjust as Illuminati policy is having quite an adverse effect on us Plebs; as more of us get culled under their umbrella of illusion and diversion.

Nothing out of the ordinary with the Cast this week, just a little more show of emotion from the Peeps that care about their Sport.and Hobbies.

i have suffered with depression and mental health problems for a number of years now and I know that if I had an opportunity to talk about it before things got out of control it would have massively helped. This weeks scout cast was also my favourite ever because it was good to know other people out there who struggle. Fantasy football and the community have actually been a huge blessing for me and a way of keeping my mind occupied during some very dark times

Im curious - in what way did I portay it from your perspective?

The point is, if a habit affects you in the way they appearantly has done for some people, they SHOULD take a break. I never critized the fact that they discussed it, I pointed out that they SHOULD have focused more in encouraging people to stop playing if it has an negative impact on their life - affecting their work and familylife. This is pure logic to me. AZ sounded super depressed and worn out.

You wouldnt drink Milk if you were lactose intolerant, would you? Talking about how drinking it makes you feel is okay. IT can help you to know how others are feeling about it. But it doesnt solve the problem. Solving the problem is done by acknowledge that you have an unhealthy habit.

Never was IT my intention to say they shouldnt talk about it. But they SHOULD adress taking a break rather than just talking about it.

But hey, no hard feelings. You went a bit too far, but thats what happens when you disagree. No harm done.

Did not see the deleted message by the way.

I just can't grasp, why some people can't acknowledge that FPL is affecting their life in a bad way and is no longer just a fun hobby, when they clearly state that it interfers with your work and your family. It's a huge contradiction.

I mean, it's okay to be moody about a bad gameweek, but dont bring your frustrations to work nor home to your family. That is in someway a very selfish trait (unless one admits to be an addict in which case one obviously needs help).

I didn't see the scoutcast, but my opinion is that any highlighting of mental health issues and getting things out in the open and making them an easier/more comfortable subject to talk about (most of us on here are blokes and most of us will have experienced at least some tough mental issues in our life, and we as men are terrible at talking about these type of things) is a good thing - the sea change over the last couple of years in making these things an acceptable conversation subject is all positive, all the best AZ

Sorry for being so direct, but im a straight shooter. You sounded like your life was falling apart. And if thats the case, you SHOULD acknowledge that FPL is becoming more of a bad habit than a fun game.

How can you deny this is not the case? Sure, talking about it a good thing - raising awareness. But raising awareness is only neccesary if there is a problem in the first place.

If you've felt like that once, why would you expect a different result as long as you still Invest the same amount of time and energy? Adressing the problem doesnt solve it. IT just gives you the tools to deal with it. But dealing with it is not equivalent to going back to the source of the problem in the first place. Its contradictory and counter productive. It really sounded bad when you talked about it.

Im trying to help here. Take it or leave it.

Raising awareness is a good thing. No doubt. My point is, that if affects your worklife or familylife in anyways, it becomes a bad habit pr. definition. Denying this makes one an addict. The advice should be to take a break. Not to take it on the chin.

I just wanted to say that I thought the piece on the scoutcast on mental health was done well and if it just helps one person in some way then that is surely a good thing. It certainly allowed me to reflect.

Agree to some extent. Raising awareness is good. But they should have mentioned the option to quit as well, as a part of the discussion, as it by far is the most effective way of dealing with a bad habit. If a habit affects your life negatively, get rid of it.

Not really sure why some people can't understand this logic. Well unless they are addicts of course.
