Key Leicester assets all start as Rodgers becomes boss

Leicester City’s key Fantasy assets have all kept their places for the first game after Claude Puel’s reign came to a close.

Brendan Rodgers’ arrival at the King Power Stadium was confirmed around the same time as the team news was released.

He will see Jamie Vardy (£8.8m), Harvey Barnes (£5.5m), James Maddison (£6.6m), Demarai Gray (£5.4m) and Ricardo Pereira (£5.4m) all in the starting line-up.

There was also a return to the side for Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) after he missed Gameweek 27.

There will also be plenty of interest in the Wolves side as they head to Huddersfield.

Nuno Espirito Santo has named the usual suspects in his starting XI, with Raúl Jiménez (£6.8m), Matt Doherty (£5.4m) and Diogo Jota (£6.1m) all involved from the beginning.

It will be interesting to see how they get on against a Terriers side that has run eight chances after Saturday’s defeat to Newcastle.

Everton are now back in FPL action for the first time since Gameweek 26, and they have done so with minimal changes.

Richarlison (£6.6m), Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.2m) and Lucas Digne (£5.3m) are all on the team-sheet to face Cardiff, who have also made the usual number of changes to their attacking line-up.

There will be plenty of interest in the 8pm televised kick-off between Newcastle and Burnley.

That game features two popular budget strikers in Salomón Rondón (£5.9m) and Ashley Barnes (£5.7m).

Miguel Almirón (£6.0m), unfortunate to blank on his full home debut, is also in the starting line-up for the Magpies.

Kenneth Zohoré (£4.6m) starts up front, with Junior Hoilett (£5.0m), Bobby Reid (£5.2m) and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (£4.8m) behind him.

Cardiff XI: Etheridge; Bennett, Bamba, Morrison, Ecuele Manga; Gunnarsson, Bacuna; Hoilett, Reid, Mendez-Laing; Zohoré.

Everton XI: Pickford; Digne, Jagielka, Keane, Coleman; Gueye, Schneiderlin; Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Walcott; Calvert-Lewin.

Huddersfield XI: Lössl; Stankovic, Schindler, Kongolo; Duhaney, Hogg, Billing, Durm; Pritchard; Mounie, Grant.

Wolves XI: Rui Patrício; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Dendoncker, Rúben Neves, João Moutinho, Jonny; Jiménez, Diogo Jota

Leicester XI: Schmeichel; Ricardo Pereira, Evans, Maguire, Chilwell; Tielemans, Ndidi, Maddison; Gray, Vardy, Barnes.

Brighton XI: Ryan; Montoya, Duffy, Dunk, Bong; Groß, Stephens, Pröpper; Knockaert, Murray, March.

Newcastle XI: Dubravka; Lejeune, Lascelles, Schär; Ritchie, Longstaff, Hayden, Manquillo; Perez, Almirón; Rondón.

Burnley XI: Heaton; Taylor, Mee, Tarkowski, Bardsley; McNeil, Hendrick, Cork, Gudmundsson; Wood, Barnes.

Mate... may sound like a boohoo for me, but just imagine deciding to keep Aubameyang rather than go for Aguero in DGW25, because you want Auba for HUD and SOU...

Couldn’t bloody script how awful that went with hindsight

Awful top post, but the point still stands. Getting Aguero and ditching Auba after blanks if not before, and hopefully MLs etc are salvageable with all chips!

Yeah. I’m hoping upon all hopes that Auba is the top captain this week, before I likely do the same (dependent on Kun minutes tmr)

Leave this team as it is now? Am tempted to hold off transfer to monitor Almiron and TAA

Have all my chips left but not too sure how to play them

    Fab (Button)
    Shaw Jonny Digne (Bednarek AWB)
Hazard Salah Pogba (C) Anderson (Son)
    Jimenez Barnes Vardy

    2M ITB.

Benching Son is weird. Would play ahead of Barnes, a completely out of form Anderson, or Jimi after today's shambles

Barnes seems to be on a good scoring run though. And Anderson vs Newcastle at home.

The last time I benched Jiminez and Barnes I had massive points on my bench..

Cardiff (H) looks too good a fixture to bench Jimenez. Really in a dilemma tho.

If nothing else, probably will do Redmond->Almiron this GW. Looking at this.

    Fabianski
    Robertson Shaw Doherty
    Salah(c) Sane Pogba Son Almiron
    Aguero Deeney

    Etheridge Bennett Solanke AwB

    For next GW.

Jimmy sits on my bench 31 he is the one I have gained most TV / SV on
It gives more spending power for 32 FH and WC.
GW 31 will probably be a damn squid anyway.
I suppose if you are sure you won't want him back and have not gained much maybe lose him but definitely not this week with the fixture.

    1. Balls of Steel
      • 8 Years

Taking into account the last 9 meetings between these two teams Huddersfield had 7 wins versus 2 for Wolves. Huddersfield were on a 4 game winning streak before last night versus Wolves without conceding a single goal, make that 5 now. There was a very high probability Huddersfield were going to win last night going on previous head to head stats which is why team form can be misleading without looking at specific head to head history first.

      1. jia you
        • 7 Years
        5 years, 2 months ago

Nah, the probability and form pointed to the fact that Wolves, being a much better side, were well due a win against them! Hindsight is great though 😉

          • 8 Years
          5 years, 2 months ago

Nah have to disagree, I'm sure Wolves had better form in some of their recent fixtures and ended up on the losing side just like they did again last night. Studying previous fixture h2h is key in these sort of fixtures!

Yeah a bit out of character maybe. I certainly could've waited on one of the transfers but only made the decision as price changes were looming, and got a bit carried away.

I quite like bold moves - striking when the time is right - and Chelsea vs Fulham is a massive opportunity potentially. Perhaps this time I got the balance of pragmatism and excitement a bit off haha.

But I'm thinking I might try to save FH for GW37 or 38, if the announce DGW32 is all good, and this is the moment that would have set that in motion if it happens 😀

Well, bar any craziness with my squad I'm pretty well set for a bland run of 5 GW's. 3 transfers into GW 31, FH GW 32, 1 transfer GW 33, WC GW 35, etc. Still some tricky decisions ahead though and I'm sure something will throw a spanner into the works somewhere along the way.

Sad to see Son go. Didn't want that. Rashford either tbh. But do want Aguero and Chelsea for GW32, and now's the perfect time to do it. (I mean this GW, probably not this night haha). Hopefully you do get Higuain and Haz, as that would indicate that I haven't made a mistake 🙂

                Ha ha.
I can also do Jota to Hazard if hazard drops 0.1/Auba rises by 0.1
Fulham fixture is going to be a goal fest + they'll have good run of the fixtures. So ..
Auba to Higuain is definitely ON though.

Holding on auba through the gw23 till now has been detrimental for me in my ML. Cost me 0.3m value too.

                Cheers buddy 🙂

I'm getting Higuain in for GW29 as well. And probably putting the armband on him straight away. I smell a hat-trick.

Haha nope it's a free transfer for me and that will be that. Pretty happy with the shape my team is in and don't see a need to mess with it too much. I'll make a few last-minute transfers for GW31 as I don't really want all that Leicester dross etc.

Let's hope so. I just can't imagine he won't get at least 4 or 5 chances to score, then it's a matter of whether he can find the net. Fulham defence is close to diabolical and Higuain is a true goal scorer. Feels like one of those moves that doesn't require any overthinking - top striker for top club versus worst defence in the league.

Surprising that you took a -8, but I do rate the moves and I think they will probably pay off within 2 gameweeks, if not immediately. Basically if Chelsea crush Fulham you will be laughing.

If you Don't rest your players, you get pulled hamstrings and/or shock losses to Huddersfield

The MCI quadruple is a threat to their title. They should use the academy outside of EPL and Champions League

Think it's extremely rare for a player to train the day after a match. Especially after extra time.

With the amount of games they have to play now think they'd be doing very low intensity stuff. But I don't know of course.

Schar is going to the moon!

      - the new Digne but not an Evertonian
      - the new Doherty but not on a head case team
      - the new Alonso without Sorry Ball
      - the new Periera without constantly scrambled formations
      - the new Shaw that actually attacks
      - the new TAA that actually plays
      - the new Bellerin that costs 0.5 less
      - the new AWB that attacks
      - the new PVA that has scored a goal lately
