Jiménez continues to impress for Mexico at Gold Cup

Fantasy Premier League assets from Mexico and Uruguay continued their involvement in summer tournaments.

Both nations are faring relatively well in the Copa America and CONCACAF Gold Cup and look likely to go deeper into the competitions.

We’ve rounded up the latest action.

CONCACAF Gold Cup

Mexico 3-1 Canada

Raúl Jiménez may not have come out of Mexico’s 3-1 win over Canada with any goals or official assists but he was still pivotal to the result.

The Wolves striker would have earned himself a Fantasy assist for his country’s opener as it was his first time shot in the box which was rebounded into the path of scorer Roberto Alvarado.

It was his hard work in a high press that led to the second Mexico goal after half-time.

His tackle on an unwitting defender pushed the ball to Andres Guardado who fired in a thunderous effort from range.

Finally, it was Jiménez’s brilliantly won header which released Uriel Antuna down the right flank to square for Guardado, who made it 3-1 with ease.

The FPL favourite already scored a brace in Mexico’s 7-0 win over Cuba and has been arguably one of his country’s best players at the tournament so far.

Wolves fans and Fantasy managers alike will be hoping he keeps up his form and can carry it into 2019/20 with full fitness to boot.

Copa America

Uruguay 2-2 Japan

Lucas Torreira got his first start of the Copa America in the second round of Group Stage matches.

The Arsenal midfielder featured only as a substitute earlier this week as his country beat Ecuador 4-0.

For the clash with Japan, Torreira came back into the central midfield of Oscar Tabarez’s 4-4-2 formation for Matias Vecino.

He was largely anonymous as Uruguay twice had to come back from a trailing position but had one moment of brilliance as a skilfull flick set up a chance for Luis Suárez.

Could do with the Nations having FPL assets getting knocked out sooner rather than later in their respective competitions.
    Eg: Mexico, Senegal...

Why, it is the same for everyone. You can be more prepared when they all pick Them and they are rested.

Actually, while there is a new page please allow me to ask an FPL question:

How much do we think Fabianski will cost next year?

A reckon a lot will say £4.5 but I can think of no reasonable justification for him being less than £5m.

He has consistently (ie not a one off season) provided high points totals on account of lots of save points.

Dubravka, Heaton, Schmichael and Leno were the £5m last year and were all much worse (only Pickford at that level performed).

Anyone else think the same or do we think Fab will stay cheap for same reason Salah is a mid, it’s because it’s more fun!

      You could be right.
He hasn't been in teams that perform well defensively nut he has been consistently racking up the points each season.
      I'll go with 5m.

Yeah think 5.0 is likely. Team finished 10th which is a fairly good indicator.

He should cost 5.0 without a doubt. Hes been the top value gk for two seasons running. He simply shouldnt be 4.5 after his consistent returns over several seasons.

Less points and less clean sheets than the season before so I was hoping for £4.5m again, if anything I think a few of the £5m keepers were overpriced last season.

Thoughts on a £5m Jorginho taking penalties for Chelsea in VARs first season as a 4th mid?

Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho, 27, will not join former boss Maurizio Sarri at Juventus, with Bosnia-Herzegovina international Miralem Pjanic, 29, a preferred option. (Mail)

He'll probably score a penalty in GW1 like last season and you'll get this bookmark out.

      No? Then best avoid Jorginho:)

I can't see a decent £5.5m mid this year. May have to take a punt on someone like Jorginho.

Someone mentioned Groß could be a 5.5 - not sure we’ll get that lucky personally, but he’d be interesting at that price

Last season was peak-5.5: Fraser, Jiminez, Deulofeu, Ings amongst others

What does that have to do with winning penalties?
Man City scored 3 penalties for example.

Kdb seems a better value than sterling if fit, but sterling is essential and a better captaincy pick
Plus salah, there will be no budget left :-/

Unfortunately, even if he gets a decent price drop to 9.0 or even 8.5, I wouldn't take the risk to go with him from the start of the season until he shows he plays a lot of minutes regularly

I think Sterling & Salah will cost the guts of 25.0m - but outside of those two + Vardy I’m not feeling the love for many attackers this season (as long as they're not reclassed to forwards) and - maybe JWP, Tielemans, Maddison & H-Barnes also... possibly Redmond as I think Southampton may be good under Ralphie although this Djenepo signing hints at a Chang win formation as FFS pointed out so Redmond may not b an option

So from an affordability perspective it mighn’t Be a huge issue

Kane doesn't interest me really at the minute
Auba & Kun labour to score 200 points
Pogba will get a massive price hike
      As will Rashford
      Son & Moura same
      Eriksen probably gone
      Mane's price will rocket
      Haz is gone
Richarlison & Siggy big price hikes
Good luck trying to afford Jiminez
Same with Jota, who could also be a forward
      Deulofeu big price rise
Mili will be priced out of it
Zaha might be good if he gets popped back to midfield & doesnt price rise
Fraser, Wilson, King, Brooks - need to keep an eye on them
Mahrez, Dilva, Bilva, Sane - nothing but rotation headaches

And then we have TAA, Robbo, Digne, VVD, Mendy, Laporte all just sitting waiting ready to make a mockery of the vast majority of these attackers, for much cheaper into the bargain

“England under-21 goalkeeper Dean Henderson, 22, wants to triple his wage to £75,000 a week at Manchester United.”

If Henderson doesn’t go to Sheff Utd then as Pingissimus pointed out - Ederson if he is 5.5 could be very interesting
