Which Spurs players are worth owning in FPL this season?

Tottenham Hotspur players are causing some Fantasy Premier League managers dilemmas at the start of the season.

They have a favourable opening fixture at home to Aston Villa but with a trip to Manchester City in Gameweek 2 and relatively expensive price points, their assets could be the ones to miss out on those initial teams.

However, there are some encouraging reasons to own some of Mauricio Pochettino’s players at the start of the new campaign.

In this article we assess Spurs’ defensive and attacking potential based on last season’s underlying statistics.

As this analysis uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

    a) 2x 4.5 DEF (Aarons, Bednarik rotate really well)
    b) Walker-Peters + 4.0 DEF

I can't tell if that is sarcasm to make a point about (b) being the obvious choice or not...

Aarons and Bednarik might not have a lot of CS but they do have attacking returns potential

    A) WIlson - Vardy - Greenwood - Zinchenko
    B) Wilson - Jota - Wesley - TAA
    C) Vardy - Jota - Deulofeu/King - Zinchenko

If going 4 at the back and assuming most would go TAA/Robbo, VVD, Digne, what’s best for the 4th spot?

    A) City Defender - who?
    B) United Defender - who?
    C) Pair of rotating 4,5’s - what are best rotating pairs for firs 6-10 weeks?

      Same issue here.
      No nailed City option
Coleman too much Everton with Digne double up
      Man U fixtures not appealing

It’s a tough choice - city will keep lots of clean sheets but for 5.5+ I want a player who is nailed on to play (particularly given how weak bench will be to start) but no clear option.

I’m beginning to lean more towards rotating pair of 4.5’s as it also gives an extra sub. No idea what pair though 🙁

Chelsea first 2 fixtures don’t look great for clean sheets plus I would prefer to watch how they start the season before getting involved - def an option though

I think I've finally decided on C... lots of decent rotation pairs for first 10 wks. Currently on Diop / Montoya

Is Balbuena nailed - i have no idea who will play in the west ham defence other than Diop.

Maguire worth a punt? United defence looked a lot better in preseason and he is a massive threat from set pieces. If United get 10+ clean sheets and he scores 4+ goals then you are looking at a 5.5 bargain!

Ryan is a good option in that his number 2 is 4m, so you can just have he Brighton keeper for 8.5m.

      But it’s the Brighton keeper.

Heaton/Pope rotate home only* and both have proven they can score 150 for 4.5m each.

    x x

    Wilson Greenwood Wickham

    A) Pope - Heaton - Gibson/best 4m def - KDB
    B) Pope - Button - Laporte - Siggy
    C Heaton - Button - Laporte - Siggy

I like the keeper rotation (even if it ends in tears) but I also think I need a sub for the first few weeks. The only problem is how strong this sub will be in these setups (B and C)

and then you scratch the surface that 3 premiums is too much, squad unbalanced blah blah...you read peoples comments and its like a merry go round...no kane/auba mean either no raz or mo then? good team and any premium is easily gained in 2 moves

Scoutcast comment - Brighton are under a new manager and new system so you can't say they suck at getting clean sheets, but the same argument doesn't apply to their history of conceding long-range shots? Doesn't make sense to me.

Not nailed. Probably 90% for GW1 and then less as season goes on.
