Why Fantasy managers should wait and see on West Ham this season

Fantasy Premier League managers might want to exercise caution over West Ham assets at the start of 2019/20.

The Hammer start with a tough opening weekend fixture against Manchester City, but it is hard to guarantee Fantasy potential even in the more appealing matches that follow.

Looking at last season’s data, there is a possibility that their new-look attack could take some time to gel.

Meanwhile, the Hammers defence was questionable in 2018/19.

We’ve taken a look at all areas of Manuel Pellegrini’s team last season to see where Fantasy manager can find value in 2019/20.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up for the new season can access it in full.

Currently going Tielemans over Perez not sure though

    Anyone else doing the same?

3 goals and 5 assists in 1087 minutes (about 12 games) compared to 12 and 2 in 2916 (about 32 games)

One was playing in a good Leicester team. The other in a poor Newcastle team... Perez for me.

I'm going Pérez (see below) as I think he might be playing more forward, but an easy switch if Tielemans looks like the better pick after a couple of games.

Maddison worth the extra 0.5 outlay?

I own both, but would probably leave Tielemans out if having only one. Think Perez will play two up top with Vardy a lot this season, isn't Rodgers usually a fan of two strikers?

Tell me this isn't the best team you've seen all preseason:

    Pope
    TAA \ VVD \ Walker \ Digne
    Pérez \ Salah \ Martial \ Sterling
    Wilson \ Jota

    Woodman \ Greenwood \ Dendoncker \ Lundstram

It's not the best team i've seen all preseason 😛

It's pretty good though. I'm not a big fan of Martial, Wilson or Jota. Think those 3 can be improved upon.

Wilson should be a safe pick for the start of the season, until we see which mid price fwds start firing. Martial is a bit of a punt, but I have a feeling he'll outperform his price point and will be in the majority of teams before long.

      Other than that, looks solid.

    Think I'm there....

    GK: Ryan
    DEF: Robbo, Digne, Cahill
MID: Salah, Sterling, Martial, Ceballos, Trossard
    ATT: Kane, King

    Sub: Stekelenburg, Guilbert, Lundstram, Greenwood

Thoughts: good rotating defence (will not have to sub for 10 GW's at last). Just in doubt about Ceballos and Trossard. Could also do McGinn and Barkley, for example...

The case for Trossard @ £6.0m
    League stats 2017/18. Apps 34. Goals 14. Assists 7.
FPL equivalent = 159 points (plus clean sheets + bps)
Europa league stats. Apps 11. Goals 8. Assists 3.
    Freekick + corner taker.
He recorded 126 shots in the league last season, averaging a shot every 22.1 minutes.
Trossard created 72 scoring chances in the league last season.
He averaged 38.7 minutes per key pass
Scout picks = 3 (David, Geoff + Neale)
    Ownership = 0.7%
Brighton opening 3 fixtures = watford, WEST HAM, SOUTHAMPTON.

People may argue you cannot compare stats from the Belgium Jupiter Pro League, however Trossard's impressive Europa League stats show he can preform at any level.

I don't have any data for ICT index, if anyone does please post it as a reply.

Hi all, hope your teams are shaping up nicely. Im nearly there, currently wondering if Laporte (if declared fit) is worth the extra cash over Zinchenko. I feel he could be due to his potential for attacking returns, BPS and naildness but an extra million can go a long way elsewhere. Any thoughts ?

    A) VVD in defence which looks like this : Robbo| VVD| AWB | Montoya

    B) VVD out for Trossard and 4.5 rotating pair of defenders , and my mid would look like this in 3-5-2 : Sterling | Salah | Fraser | Maddison | Trossard

If you think about BB enough it typically points to certain players doesn’t it.......

To be honest I’m set on Moura, if I was to get Lamela it would have to be a double up on sours mids but I don’t like that because it leaves you in a bad position for GW2.

That’s enough to put me off Bego, don’t like the uncertainty. You pairing Leno with Pope?

He’s the last decision for me.

I’m either sticking with him and that team, or I’ll wimp out of picking him by downgrading wood to origi, holebas to kiko/Cathcart and upgrade Wilson back to Fraser.

Shame Özil became an uncertainty, he could have had some real upside for us.

Would love to but couldn’t work out a team I was happy with this year. GL if you do, I got a Top 200 GW rank when I did it last year!

Thanks! That’s a good success story.

Trying something different for a change, so I’m going for it 🙂

If Drinkwater goes to Burnley, should l bring him in for Dendocker?

Still think Dendonker is the better choice.

I suppose. Neither of them is ever likely to score more than a couple of points a week, so it won't make that much difference. DW might get the odd bonus, I suppose..

A1 for me, have KDB & King (over Jota for first couple GW's anyway) and have KWP & Lundstram over 2 x 4.5 rotating.
