Captain Poll

Manchester City assets set to compete for Gameweek 4 captaincy

Manchester City assets are expected to compete amongst each other for the Gameweek 4 captaincy in the coming days.

Pep Guardiola’s men host Brighton on Saturday afternoon, one of the most appealing fixtures for premium Fantasy assets.

The Seagulls have looked a little fragile at the back in their last two outings, against West Ham and Southampton, and conceded four times the last time they faced Manchester City, admittedly under a different manager.

However, the reigning champions are in scintillating attacking form, with Raheem Sterling (£12.2m) proving a reliable source of points in the first three Gameweeks.

In that time, he is joint-top in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, his five strikes level with Norwich forward Teemu Pukki (£6.9m).

However, those in possession of Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) will almost certainly be considerin the forward after he finished as the top-scoring player from Manchester City’s recent win over Bournemouth.

The Argentinian played 90 minutes for the first time this season at the Vitality Stadium, which coincided with Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) being ruled out with a hamstring problem.

That should keep the Brazilian out until after the international break, so Aguero’s route into the team against Brighton is unrivalled, and his chances of minute-management by Guardiola will be reduced too.

Also looking like a viable candidate is Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m), who recorded his fourth assist of the campaign against Bournemouth.

While he is not quite as explosive as his colleagues further forward, the Belgian midfielder has a history of being a reliable source of points when he is a regular in the team.

Many of the other premium options face tougher tasks in Gameweek 4, although that’s not to suggest there won’t be attacking returns on offer.

Liverpool travel to Burnley this weekend, to face a Clarets defence that has got back to its best under Sean Dyche this season.

However, the Reds have scored an average of three goals per game in 2019/20, Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) involved in four of them so far.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mané (£11.5m) was the key man against Southampton, while Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) has been a constant threat for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Spurs go head-to-head in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon.

Following a blank against Newcastle, interest in Harry Kane (£11.1m) may be low, but he does have a good record against the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) has attacking returns in each Gameweek so far this season.

Alternatively, Pukki might garner some support for Gameweek 4 after an excellent start to the season.

With five goals in three matches, a match-up with the West Ham defence could reap rewards for the Norwich man.

You can vote in our latest poll below, or in the sidebar of our website.

Also, Joe and David will be discussing the Gameweek 4 captaincy in a live video on our YouTube channel at 12:30pm on Tuesday lunch-time.

Anyone else feel like the Fantasy football Gods are against them this season!
WC's last week and still only managed 31 pts.
Got rid of Haller and Salah which rubbed salt into the wound.

What do I do with this lot.
Tempted to stick as whatever I do bound to backfire.

    Pope - Heaton
    Mings - Montoya - W Biss - Lundstram - Pieters

This. Exactly what I promised myself I would avoid this season, but in a moment of madness I got overexcited about KDB's performance against Spurs, and ended up taking a -4 and doing Salah>Mane because I was temporarily possessed by the absolute need to get KDB immediately, rather than just wait one week. Got punished just as I deserved - my initial reaction was to tear up my team to try and undo everything and get Salah back immediately, as if I could somehow get those 15 points back if I did it quickly enough. But that way lies disaster - need to get back to making calm, sensible decisions - and hoping Mane does something this week!

Exactly. Mane could easily haul just as much as Salah any given week, just be patient.

Speaking as someone who also took out Salah last week (taking a -4 in the process), I don't think we can blame the FF gods. It's entirely our own fault! I thought Salah was essential when I picked him at the start, then went temporarily insane, and now I have to figure out how to get him back, hopefully before he has dished out too much more punishment!

Yep , probably need 2 FT to replace him.

I Wildcarded last week as well and although I got 55 points it still didn't quite go the way I had hoped. That isn't to say that I made a ton of mistakes, however it's also not ignoring the ones I did make.

Personally, I believe in just taking it on the chin and correcting your mistakes ASAP rather than sticking with a decision that didn't turn out the way you'd hoped.

The Andone red card might be a blessing in disguise.

      How about:
      Martial - Cantwell
      Kane - Aguero (C?)
      Andone - Haller

      1. I would not be surprised at all if those three outscored the other three (you would've played) in this GW.
      2. Even if they don't you're in a better place going in to gw5.

Or /if Martial isn't injured) perhaps:
      Kane - Pukki
      Andone - Haller

Best of luck whatever you choose

    Haller worth a second successive hit (Adams/Ryan > Haller/Button)?
    Get Abraham instead?
Wait 1 week, save FT and reevaluate (Barnes will also be a possibility by then)?

    Pope
    VanDijk Digne Zinchenko Cathcart
    Salah Sterling DeBruyne Martial
    Pukki Adams
    (Ryan, Dendoncker, Lundstram, Greenwood)

    Thanks

Emerson showing good underlying attacking stats, just unfortunately not being able to translate into FPL points now. After SHU they will face Wolves and Pool so I'm not entirely convinced.

I'm siding more to B for the fact that KDB is consistent with a lower price bracket, and you'd get a starter striker in Haller, assisted by Lanzini/FAnderson.

      1. Little fekirs
        • 5 Years

Emerson could be Coleman or any other 5.5. B seems safer but Aguero is so appealing.

Only worry is having to play both Kelly & Dendon, still thinking if I should -4 for McGinn/Cantwell.

    Robbo, Digne, Kelly
    Sterling, Salah, KDB, Martial, Dendon

depends what your team looked like before. A Kane blank is usually a good sign to get him in rather than transfer out IMO and Kane loves a goal against Arsenal too (9 goals & 1 assist in 9 league games). Sterling has had good involvement so far but with KDB and Aguero both starting and bang in form he is competing for points. Pukki Barnes & Kane upfront would look pretty strong and you can always transfer Sterling in next week for a hit once all my advise has backfired!

Thanks for the feedback - i just feel like Sterling can't be ignored, especially given the fixtures City have over the next couple months and i still don't feel like Aguero is as nailed this year. He basically only started at the weekend because of the Jesus injury.

Aguero has 4 in 3 and Jesus wont be back this weekend for sure so a definite start for Kun but sounds like you've made your mind up. Great value in Pukki and Barnes anyway. Good luck for the weekend.

              bottomed sorry for RP..

Sitting pretty at 3k OR and having used WC to mainly play catch up in seasons past, using it now is a bit awkward..

              Current Team:
              Pope
              Digne TAA Stones Lundy Hanley
              Sterling Salah KDB Martial Ceballos
              Pukki King Greenwood
              0.4 ITB 1FT

              WC team:
              Pope
              TAA Soyuncu Guilbert Lundy Digne
              Sterling Salah KDB Mount Cantwell
              Pukki Barnes Haller

Plan was to WC after GW4 but any price rises would price me out, which looks almost definite. Unless I do Haller to Kean meaning WC for GW5 and something to do amidst IB boredom.. thoughts?

Keep your wildcard, you don't need to use it, you could just do King to Barnes if you really wanted to make a change

Lads, would you guys either/ prioritize:

              A) Vardy + Trossard (-4 hit) > Barnes + De Bruyne (Have double Liverpool defence, so akward)

              B) Vardy > Haller (free) (Issue is not owning De Bruyne and Trossard who'll prob get 2 points)

              C) Keep TF (However owning Trossard and missing out on De Bruyne) Least fan of this.

              Thanks!

have you got any other MCI attack? I'd hold till after the weekend - Vardy v BOU has good points potential.

I got Sterling, ready to fire. So that means Trossard stays and plays? I play with 3 at the back and one forward.

How many do we think Raheem will get this year?

I think this is when he announces himself fully as a top goalscorer, can see him getting as high as 30.

Currently got King in, with 0.7m ITB.

Do i take a -4 to bring in Tammy at 7.1m?

Or stick with King at 6.4m?

Fixtures look ok but bournemouth have been pretty awful so far- i like the look of Tammy but don't think it's worth a -4 this week.
