Scoutcast discusses Raul Jimenez, Man City rotation and the ‘template’

After a chastening weekend of football, the Scoutcast is back to reflect on all the key talking points from Gameweek 9.

You can watch it from 20:00 to 21:00 BST on our YouTube channel, or embedded in the article below.

Joe is joined by Fantasy Football Scout deputy editor Neale and special guest Karam, who has appeared on a handful of our videos already this season.

Currently positioned at 144k in the world, Karam has just deployed his Wildcard and will be discussing the make-up of his revamped Fantasy Premier League squad.

The trio above will be looking at the form and fixtures of Raul Jimenez (£7.1m), Manchester City rotation and the so-called ‘FPL template’, among other things.

There is also a differential for Joe to put forward, clean sheets, the community’s questions and a look at the Scoutcast crew’s Gameweek 10 plans.

With no-shows and auto-subs being the order of the weekend, we can expect the usual mix of sob stories and tales of jam in Rough with the Smooth.

no idea if Pep's going to play Kun coming gw so :

    Kun + Mcgonn -> Sterling + Jim (hit) Y/N ?

I'm in a similar boat. Aguero just as likely to start as Sterling.

    Pope (Button)
    TAA Robbo VVD (Lund Ota)
    Martial Dacoure Mount KDB (Noble)
    Abraham Jimi Kun
2ft Zero in the bank (ML rival)
He wanted to WC in week 5. Forgot to press the button and cost him 48 points.
He is 48 points behind me.
What would you do in his place.

I am not. I am asking what you think his move would be.
Clearly he has gone 3 Pool defense so Pool forwards are where I can keep one over on him.

I would get Vardy if you do not have him and also make sure you have TAA.

He does not have Pool attack. I would suggest Salah 🙂

What is the point in speculating and asking opinions as to which Man City assets will start the next game ? Answers on here are pure speculation and anyone who states that "x will start" is not doing others any favours at all and these statements should be completely ignored.
Pep is consistent in his inconsistency and trying to predict his line ups is next to impossible . Only he truly knows .

    1. MOZIL

Aguero is more likely to start than Sterling. Aguero is gonna rest midweek while Sterling played 5 matches in the last 11 days.

Exactly. You don't know - just speculation. Quite possible that the only correct there is the midweek Mickey Mouse Cup rest.

Predicting him correctly will win you your mini league though. I prefer to face and beat pep Roulette rather than run from it. And part of facing it is predicting the likely starters, likely being the key word here, not certain but likely.

      1. George Sillett
        • 8 Years
        4 years, 6 months ago

Yes you've hit the nail on the head - likely. I prefer to just pick 2 and stick with them - Sterling and KDB . You just have to suck it up when they don't start.

        1. Murder On Zidanesfloor
          • 5 Years
          4 years, 6 months ago

Sterling will start most games, given that they don't have another player that can perform a similar role, at least till sane returns. And KDB is the main man there...I have the same duo.

Kun and Jesus look increasingly interchangeable.

      2. Murder On Zidanesfloor

For example, On the previous page I said I think Bilva will start instead of Mahrez (He had a full rest midweek).

Now I think it should be assumed that I'm giving my prediction and not claiming to know the lineup, anyone who believes otherwise is stupid.

        1. FOO FIGHTER
          • 4 Years

Bilva played LW when Sterling was benched but you cannot second guess Pep.

You just do not know who he is going to pick this weekend.

Yeah but you still need the city players. So no point running away from it. Like slouch said, pick 2 of the most regular starters and stick.

The roulette effectively has been for the good. Two times it hit my team. Sterling benched and Kdb brought back 34 points. And Ota benched for 6 points coming off bench. Happy to ride the occasional benching.

If a defender plays for 60 mins and then gets subbed and the team only concede after he goes off he keeps his clean sheet bonus. What happens if a team concede in first 20 mins then they bring on a defender, say as an injury replacement and he plays 60 mins or more without conceding any further goals does that player get a clean sheet bonus?

    1. SomeoneKnows
      • 8 Years

A defender needs to play 60 min to get the CS bonus.
If he is subbed in at the 29’ mark and his team is down 0-1 s’d That the score remains the same he will get the Cs

If he is subbed in at the 31’ mark he won’t

Yes. I had Cahill a few years ago and he was on the bench for the last game of the year and Terry started.

Chelsea conceded, Terry was subbed off before 30 minutes as a farewell and Cahill came on. Chelsea didn't concede again and Cahill got the clean sheet points as he played over 60 minutes.

Aubameyang is going to be pushed onto the wing with Lacazette back. Maddison doesn't offer much goal threat when he plays centrally, which he tends to do in the easier games, and on top of that is still having issues with his ankle. They're not bad options, but both Sterling and Haller have two nice home games coming up themselves and ditching them now isn't advisable imo.

    Pep on Sterling;

“A day after a game, he could play another game. His regeneration is incredible.”

I guess we can all read into this in different ways.
But Sterling obviousely doesn’t need the same rest as most in that team. If he can regenerate after one day then he can regenerate in 4 days and bag a second hattie on Sunday.

Not going to overthink this one.

Well someone gets benched but agree that this isn’t necessarily an easy fixture, or at least it won’t be looked at as one. Southampton on the other hand.

Plus after Southampton is another CL game and then Pool

All irrelevant tho coz pep will pick a team suited to the game and that’s that

true. I think this is more of a valid point. Pep will pick based on the game not on a pattern of people getting rested one in every 4 etc

If a gk clearly makes a fingertip save but the ref doesn't see it and gives a goal kick instead, does it still count as a save in fpl?

      Shouldn't.

Do not want to make too much of it but Mendy was subbed off for Cancelo last night.

Mendy got a bit of a rest, Cancelo some more minutes to just stretch his legs.

Mendy and Cancelo to start again over the weekend?

Would you start soyuncu (sou a), Rico (wat a) or Lundstram (West Ham a) this weekend?

same boat.Let me know once you have worked it out. I think Lunds only does well when he comes off the bench!!

I’m tempted to go Rico due to attacking returns and bonus. Agree Lundstram is a super sub

I have the latter two only, and starting both... if that helps... cs are hard to come by as per fixture looks for this gw.

Think it is fair to say, if you have Sterling then cap him. Make sure you pick a viable VC.

If you do not have Sterling for the weekend, do not get him in for a hit or hits.

    Could burn your fingers 😀

Yup agreed would need some cojones for a Sterling owner to not captain him this week.

Sterling (c) and KDB (vc) most likely for me.

I do not have Sterling or KDB.

        Salah Mane Dilva.

        Salah(c) Mane(vc)

So are people starting to realize that soy was a bad pick? 0 attacking potential and doesn't keep cleans. I'd much rather own someone from palace, Newcastle, burnley, Brighton or Sheffield.

for his price he is fine for me. Can still see ckean sheets in easy home games and only cost me 4.5

I went for Tomori over him and he's blocked CHO for me so I'm not happy about that either.

People who owned Soy have also someone from Burnley, Brighton and Sheffield at least. Maybe even Kelly. So it's only Newcastle that remains... not a great selling premise...

KDB (captain) for an easy double digit haul this gw
