Pulisic returns to Chelsea starting XI as Ziyech and James named on bench

The second of four Premier League matches to take place on Saturday sees Chelsea entertain Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Christian Pulisic makes his long-awaited first start of 2020/21, following his second-half cameo in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Hakim Ziyech also makes the Chelsea squad for the first time but, as Frank Lampard warned us yesterday, the Moroccan is only fit enough for a place on the bench.

Summer signing Edouard Mendy misses out after suffering an injury on international duty, so Kepa Arrizabalaga is recalled between the posts.

There are four changes in all for the Blues from their last Premier League game, with Andreas Christensen and Mason Mount recalled.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham make way, while Thiago Silva isn’t involved after a late return from South America in midweek.

Southampton make two changes from the side that beat West Brom 2-0 a fortnight ago, both of which are enforced.

Theo Walcott is handed his second Saints debut after his loan move from Everton, with Nathan Redmond also coming in.

The unavailable Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Djenepo miss out.

        Massive sales right at the start of this GW a fortnight ago.

        Nice that he's finally delivered, but most of us have moved on, likely got DCL instead and used the change to improve other areas of our teams.

        So, yeah, well done Werner owners, buy holding onto him this long still did a lot of damage for most of us.

      Well done Werner owners, you deserve this for sticking with him.

      I sold him for DCL and got Son with the change, so I'm sticking with what I have for now.

      Just a shame he never turned up for the rest of us for the 4 weeks he helped kill our rank.

        Chelsea strikers don't tend to score a lot of goals. Drogba is their best ever striker and he only scored more than 12 pl goals in 2/8 seasons with chelsea

      Palace have some good fixtures but no idea on their lineup plus the way things are going, you’re best loaded up on attacking threat rather than clean sheets.

            Because when Ziyech plays RW he will play very narrow, cutting inside and the RB will need to overlap and hold the width, like Chilwell is doing for Mount. James is far better at attacking the wings than Azpi is.

            This seemed to the initial plan at the start of the season, but without Ziyech it wasn't really working with Havertz RW or Mount RW so Lamps switched the creative player over to the left, which is benefitting Chilwell and means a more defensive RB is needed for now.

            I think the focus of chance creation will move from the left to the right when Ziyech plays.

            Probably all wrong, but just my dumb opinion.

        Yup. No CS's guaranteed this season.
        Either big hitters like Digne and Liverpool's full-backs, or cheep guys with a bit of an offensive threat. Wing-backs like Lamptey, Semedo come to mind

      So somehow I still don't have DCL, only way I can get him is to sell Ings but that would be madness right? No need to sell Ings imo..
