Iheanacho benched as Man City make mixed start to Brighton clash

Kelechi Iheancho (£6.2m) is on the bench for Leicester as they visit Chelsea on Tuesday evening.

It is the first time he has missed out on a Premier League starting line-up since Gameweek 25, Ayoze Pérez (£6.0m) his replacement tonight.

Jamie Vardy (£10.2m) keeps his place in the side while James Maddison (£7.2m) returns after featuring from the bench against Manchester United.

Chelsea are in 3-4-3 as per usual, with Christian Pulisic (£8.3m) and Mason Mount (£7.3m) either side of Timo Werner (£9.2m).

Elsewhere, there was a mixed start to Manchester City’s trip to Brighton.

Ferran Torres (£7.0m) earned a fourth successive start but it lasted no more than 15 minutes after João Cancelo (£5.8m) earned an early red card.

Torres was being used as a number nine, in the middle of Phil Foden (£6.1m) and Riyad Mahrez (£8.1m) after Pep Guardiola had praised his credentials for that role earlier this week.

Foden and Mahrez are making their first appearances since Gameweek 35 and 32 respectively with Raheem Sterling (£11.0m), Sergio Aguero (£10.3m) and Kyle Walker (£6.1m) deemed “not fully fit” according to the club website.

Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) returns from his recent muscle injury on the bench, where he is joined by Aymeric Laporte (£6.0m) and Gabriel Jesus (£9.1m).

Goalscorer Ilkay Gündogan (£5.6m) and Bernardo Silva (£7.4m) are either side of Rodrigo (£5.3m) in midfield while Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.5m), Ruben Dias (£6.0m) and John Stones (£5.1m) are in the back four which now features Eric Garcia (£4.7m) on for Torres.

Leandro Trossard (£5.5m) was on the Brighton bench tonight with Alexis Mac Allister (£5.3m) and Alireza Jahanbakhsh (£5.4m) selected to support Danny Welbeck (£5.5m) in attack.

However, the Belgian international came on 30 minutes into the encounter following a thigh injury for Welbeck.

It works like this. VAR have bricked themselves about ruling out a worldie goal. Hes offside without a touch so they have to pretend it touched him to make the goal legit

My point is that these things all work out.

Its like var giving a pen, that wasn't a pen(which there have been plenty) and the player gets the assist, and people having a meltdown asking for the assist to be removed as it shouldn't have been a pen.

Two wrongs don't make a right though

It might subjectively feel like "things even out" (a classic skysports/football commentators/tabloid cliche that people hear and then repeat)

But most people objectively want the right decision - which this was not

So when var gives a pen that shouldn't have been a pen, all those assists should be removed after the fact as var was wrong?

And I can assure you, I've been on the end of several dodgy fpl decisions this season, which has had me worse off than the 3 points brunos assist got me today.

I'm not convinced he didn't touch it, I've said before those angles it's impossible to tell.
But even if he didn't, the non pen assists / goals that shouldn't have been, have been given, more blatant than tonight, and those points stood.
The crazy thing would be to remove something that isn't obvious.

Jason, De gea assist has been removed. So, what's stopping them removing Bruno's now with more evidence less than 2 hours after full time? Bruno owner here.

So if we are saying var got it wrong, why not remove all the pens incorrectly given with var after the fact.

                      It doesn't happen that's why.

Plus I'm yet to see evidence that shows he didn't touch it. From what I watched, its impossible to tell.

They are too quick to give decisions on the fpl site(which is a different matter, they should wait for confirmation), whereas fpl twitter never actually gave the assist to anyone, and listed tbc.

@Jason the aim of the game had to be to get as many decisions correct as humanly possible (Not to let errors layer of to of errors so that they "cancel each other out")

Wrongly awarded VAR penalties, Wrongly red carded Tomas Souceks that are later rescinded etc - they need to be put to one side, they're not justification to layer error on top of error on top of door in the hope that it "all balances out"

The replay they showed during the match was conclusive (to me anyways) and BBC Sport, Opta, Skysports, One football, Sodascore etc all had the assist on DDG - the fact that giving it to DDG highlighted the offside error unfortunately looks to have put pressure on the wrong award of the assist

They should have waited then and then give it to DDG.

OK, i shouldnt have said the balance it out part, but I'm still unconvinced that the replay is clear enough to be sure that its not a bruno assist.

Had the assist remained with ddg, id be saying the same thing, that there isn't enough on the replay for it to be taking away from ddg and given to bruno, but then that raises the offside question(which is a different matter).

Yes exactly - this isn’t an issue about the OP benefitting from plenty of errors in the first 37 GW’s, or that all these things balance each other out etc

It’s more that you think Bruno touched the ball

This is my point, if they took 20 mins, and deemed ddg hit it through, bruno didn't touch it and awarded to ddg, I wouldn't be sitting here demanding that it be given to bruno.
Its just not clear one or the other(in my mind) from the video for it to be definitive, so whatever fpl decide in this close call, is what it is.

The closeness of the call and people are acting like its the most obvious error ever.

                        A. DDG kicked the ball forwards
                        B. Bruno touched the ball

A, but what I'm sure of doesn't matter!

Its firstly the var ref to decide if the goal should stand.

And then for fpl towers to deem based on what the see.

I see your point, and I wouldn't have been shocked for ddg to have been given the assist instead of bruno, just the same as I'm not shocked that it was given to bruno.

But once its been deemed to be brunos assist, I don't see enough in the replay to be outraged that it was given to him.

But if you divorce yourself from the personal investment in the situation (everyone is either a Bruno owner, non-owner, captainer, etc)

Can you see why people feel strongly that the wrong design was reached?

It is 100% unarguable that DDG played the ball forwards... it is (extremely) tenuous at best that Bruno touched it - (personally I think it’s conclusive that he didn’t touch it but fair enough I can understand if someone else subjectively sees something from a different angle etc)

Yes, I see the point, but there have been way worse calls made over the season that didn't seem to get the reaction tonight did, maybe as its so close to the end. Like I said, I wouldn't have been outraged had fpl deemed it a ddg assist, just more confused as to how it stood in the 1st place!

I'm just glad I didn't cap him as I was close to it, but he'll likely end up beating my actual cap kane!

benched trossard and he finally scores after being crap for weeks and got harrison in for jota after following the crowd, had to laugh when he waited with arms open for the tap in from bamford only for bamford to shoot and the rebound fell to rodrigo not the time to be unlucky for ml money

um thats all wrong but ok...

Tyler Roberts overdribbled like a donkey and didnt look up to see Harrison was wide open. Roberts gets tackled and the ball falls to Bamford for a first time shot, which rebounds back to Roberts

They have to remove that bruno assist, fpl is not legit anymore with things like this happening with highly owned players

Direct quote from Bruno himself ...

"In the moment, I don't think I touch the ball."

So move the assist to De Gea where it belongs

No, direct quote started with " i don't know .."

        So he isn't sure!

Well, I'm just giving the start of the quote, where he said he didn't know.

But its better for the anti assist agenda to remove the 1st part of the quote.

Oh come on, do you really believe he doesn't know if he actually touched the ball?

He doesn't want to lie, so he's admitted that he himself didn't think he touched it.

The "I don't know" bit is essentially saying, I've told you what happened but hey if you want to give me the assist I'll take it ... he's being diplomatic. Fair play to him.

I'm just giving the quote that he said, we can take it as we want to.

I mean having played football, its not impossible to not be sure if you got a faint touch on a ball at times.
