The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 2

Before we take a look at the Scout Pick markets for Gameweek 2, a reminder that Paddy are offering exclusive enhanced odds for Fantasy Football Scout visitors on Robin Van Persie to score anytime in Monday night’s game. Available to new accounts only, if you’ve yet to get a Paddy Power account, you can sign up and get these exclusive odds right here. Existing account holders can also get in on the act with Van Persie: Paddy have a money back special on offer for the Chelsea clash.

Van Persie aside, and with our weekly tenner in hand, lets look at some of the other names in this week’s Scout Picks and see how Paddy’s number crunchers rate their chances.

A man of the match showing in Monday’s 4-0 Magpies mauling failed to bring Edin Dzeko a goal but we’ve taken a punt on the Bosnian for the Picks this week. Rotation is always a concern but with Dzeko in full flow, we see him starting at Cardiff and carrying a big threat to Malky MacKay’s men. Paddy aren’t quite so sure, offering 5/1 on a Dzeko goal with a City clean sheet, odds perhaps influenced by the injury to Vincent Kompany. We reckon this is fairly generous and we’re happy parting with £4 of our stake money.

Our gamble on Dzeko forced Southampton’s Rickie Lambert onto the Scout Picks bench but he remains a hot property ahead of the St Mary’s clash with Sunderland. Off the mark from the spot at West Brom last time out, Lambert may now feel under threat from new striker, Pablo Osvaldo, which might well fuel a convincing display against the Black Cats. Again, Paddy have priced a Lambert goal with a Southampton clean sheet at 5/1, enough to tempt another £2 from our weekly purse.

Our final two markets switch to midfield with Paddy dangling 6/1 on a Kevin Mirallas goal and an Everton clean sheet in their home clash with West Brom. Similarly, they match those odds for Stoke’s Britannia clash with Crystal Palace, with Scout Pick Jon Walters offered at 6/1 for an anytime goal with a Potters clean sheet against Ian Holloway’s side. Of the two, we’re going to opt for Mirallas, putting up our final £4 quid on the Belgian and the Toffees to deliver.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Good luck everyone.

Big gwk 3 transfer decision for me. Do I set in place a map straight to Rvp in gwk 4... Or become a maverick, throw caution to the wind and hop aboard the man city striker merry go round v Hull. I expect quite a few will be in a similar position. This weekend's events may help me make my mind up.

RVP is a luxury I think.

Who is your City striker punt? Dzeko? Aguero?

Don't know yet. Not for this week anyway. I really can't see negredo being benched long term and ageuro's so adaptable that he just feels more secure. And then there's Dzeko.

This is why it's a tough decision.

    (c) Soldado or Wally?

Both will have a European hangover, but at least Spurs opponents will too.

Wally got more minutes, and has less recovery time, but is fitter than Soldado, who is still getting up to full fitness.

My gut says Fulham vs. Arsenal will be an open attacking game with more chances, whereas the Spurs game will be sluggish with potentially less chances... but maybe more defensive lapses and sloppyness?

Currently leaning towards Soldado to score more despite not having the most electric performance.

I think Walcott will play 90 mins against Fulham and will be rested against Fenerbaçe (no chance they can score 3 goals. They looked very poor).

I didn't see the game against Fenerbahce but Walcott was very poor against Villa. Spurs often struggle at home against teams they should beat. So I wouldn't be comfortable in going with either.

If they are your only choices, then I would go for Soldado.

I guess this is one of the struggles we have without RVP. Choosing a damned captain. I bought Aguero this week. But when it comes to choosing a (c) I have a nagging doubt he might not start. Which makes spending 11m on someone like that more than a little ridiculous.

I don't think I would ever have the cojones to give Lambert the armband. If you do, then all power to you sir!

That's the perception, the reality is somewhat different.

These are the scores in the 12:45 Saturday games last year for the first 3 months of the season
        25 Aug, 12:45 Swansea City 3 - 0 West Ham United
        1 Sep, 12:45 West Ham United 3 - 0 Fulham
        15 Sep, 12:45 Norwich City 0 - 0 West Ham United
        22 Sep, 12:45 Swansea City 0 - 3 Everton
        29 Sep, 12:45 Arsenal 1 - 2 Chelsea
        6 Oct, 12:45 Manchester City 3 - 0 Sunderland
        20 Oct, 12:45 Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 4 Chelsea
        27 Oct, 12:45 Aston Villa 1 - 1 Norwich City

Basically, the shit teams score few goals, the better ones don't give a damn what time kick off is at

I've just realised that Fulham's clean sheet away against Sunderland was with the same back four for most of the game.

Johnson managed 4 shots (0 in the box) from the right wing, but created 5 chances.

Swansea had the sixth worst record for conceding shots in the box last season. Soldado has shots in the box for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He's my pick.

" Arsenal are an enigma. They were unlucky not to score more against Villa last week but still looked way off the pace, but then go and put Fenerbace to the sword. A lot depends on Fulham and how they approach this game.

Spurs are heavily fancied and Soldado leads captain polls on various sites. On what evidence I ask?! I'm not personally into the new look Spurs yet. They'll have to do a lot more than they did against Palace. "

Gone the maverick route. Mirallas for me, West Brom there for the taking, RVP vs Chelsea probably low scoring, all other players away. Looked at Walcott, worry Arsenal will struggle after Wednesday and it's the early kick off.

Mirallas is the kind of pick that requires huge stones. No doubt the potential is there for an explosive performance in a high-scoring Everton win, but I wouldn't be surprised with a big fat 2.

Going on that title I'm going to captain Dzeko over Soldado. Its a classic case of going with the maverick option. City were very impressive last week and I think they will thrash Cardiff with Dzeko the main benefactor. I was particularly unimpressed with Spurs last week, 1-0 against Crystal Palace is simply not good enough.

    Ok...a bit of a repost:

Originally asked if you had to decide between Lampard and Hazard for the MU game who you would pick? Lampard got points and looked good, PK, FK, Cnrs. Hazard may benefit if MU dominate possession and use counter attack - also on Cnrs (some).

Now...throwing Mirallas into the mix...West Brom not such a bad team but away...so:

    Lampard or Hazard?
    and
    Lampard/Hazard or Mirallas?

Not thinking long term...just curiously looking at GW2 fixtures now..

    Thanks

id bench snoddy. he probably has the least potential to explode out of the 3 youve mentioned.

also, as a principle, i always keep the heavyweights on the pitch because when they score points on the bench, you kick yourself harder
