There are no brown envelopes in sight; this “bung” is firmly placed in my nasal passages as I clamber from my man-flu grief pit to sit alongside Granville and take my Gameweek medicine. After seeing me off by 21 points, it’s only fair I gave my co-host his moment of glory, regardless of being short of match fitness.

Somehow we end up arguing about Robin van Persie once again, before taking a gander at the bandwagons rolling and preview the weekend’s action the only way we know how: by rambling endlessly and singling out some dubious player picks along the way.

    Leaning towards C with Jarvis. Already have Wally so Ramsey doesn't make sense. I like Brady but have Kim and don't want two uber cheapies in mid.

    Since managing budget and price rises is part of the game, why doesn't the official site make it clear when price changes are about to happen?

    What's the point of telling us the net ownership changes without the payoff of what that means to the game. We already have to keep an eye on injuries, manager clues, inference etc.

    Surely it's a skill for a manager to watch the transfers and make changes in a timely fashion, but without the explicit info on how close a price change is we are denied that string to our bows.

    Now we have to look at 3rd party sites, which may or may not be accurate.

        Why is it a cheat? They should defo give it, makes no sense that they done. That and they'd have 2m people spending more time on their site over the entire season

          it's a cheat because there's websites set up to work out the algorithms involved in price changes, most people don't even know about these sites. therefore it's an advantage (i.e a cheat, sort of).

        It's not a cheat. It's a matter of timing, a risk vs reward. Do you make the move now, knowing the price will change, given all the other things that could happen if you move early in the week.

      Would alienate casuals. And FPL love the fact that there are so many third party sites based on their addictive game. Why would they want to kill that?

        Yeah but that would assume that the game makers have at some point in the past deemed that keeping it secret added something to the game...but is that really the case ?...It could well be that by making the data available, ala Total or Fisco, that the game becomes more addictive to more people..as well as improving the game for most people who don't know how to access transfer information at the moment...

          It is part of the game. Hiding it is actually unfair to the participants of the game who are engaged and paying attention.

      They definitely shouldn't! Pricing isn't explained and price changes aren't explained either and that's part of the game. We only know about price rises because someone reverse engineered the algorithm which is what hardcore players of a game tend to do to try to get an advantage. When I started playing I had to make a decision whether to transfer a popular player in or 'risk' their price rising sometime during the week. It was part of the excitement and strategy.

      The game would feel much more stats based and less natural if they told you exactly how it worked. We only do it because we try to eke out every advantage possible, and people like us who want to do that can still do that.

        Actually where it would work brilliantly is if the progression towards a price rise was shown & the price changes happened in real time, and not once a day at a set time.

        Then being able to watch them change in real time and have to pay attention to get the price before the rise would become a worthy skill.

      Look at the evolution of the BAPS system from a subjective 'man in the stand' to a detailed explanation of how its awarded.

      So Kaka's recently announced that it's possibly time for him to search for a new club.. Would Kaka to United be too far fetched? We are lacking an attacking creative talent in that area.

      I've not seen him play in a long time so for all I know he could've completely lost his legs and done a Sneijder by now. Thoughts?

      Tonev 4.8 about drop and McNaughton 4.0 is also at 97% dropped on TotalFPL.

      How does the formula work? If they don't get to 100% tonight, do they reset tomorrow? How does it work?

          That's what I was afraid of. If you had a 25 pt lead in your league, would you swap McNaughton for Chester now before he drop to 3.9 ? Would have to take a -4 hit.

          He's on my bench. I have Coleman, Collins, Whittaker, and Ivanovic on Def. so, I don't see McNaughton ever getting back to 4.0 unless he plays. I don't know if it worth keeping him. With Tonev, I'm gonna just eat the loss since I believe he will be good and starting soon or by week 6.

        the last week and its happening more frequently(every 3 refreshes) but when i refresh the page the bold of the posters names change and the upvote button disappears as well as the vote itself..also when i click to reply to a poster sometimes the page scrolls right down to bottom of page itself not registering the reply at all so i have to scroll back up the page and hit reply to post again..same for anyone else?
