The Weekend Team News

Stewart Downing returns to training for West Ham, though Sam Allardyce still has doubts over a handful of regulars. Jack Wilshere is out for three months with an ankle injury for Arsenal. Newcastle pair Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor return to training but Tim Krul is doubtful. Saido Berahino is fit for West Brom after recovering from a minor hamstring problem, while Stoke are hit by a virus ahead of the trip to Liverpool.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Jack Wilshere is set to be sidelined for three months after undergoing ankle surgery. Mikel Arteta is also ruled out for the Gunners, whilst Wojciech Szczesny has failed to train and Yaya Sanogo “has problems” with the hamstring injury that forced him off in midweek. Danny Welbeck is set for a fitness test later today on the knee problem that forced him to miss the win over Dortmund, though Theo Walcott remains sidelined with a groin problem.

Villa’s injury room remains packed ahead of their trip to Burnley. Paul Lambert has confirmed that Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker are all still absent due to injury.

Scott Arfield and Nathaniel Chalobah are both available for Burnley available for Burnley’s home encounter after recovering from a knock, though Sean Dyche is still without Sam Vokes and Matt Taylor as Villa roll up to Turf Moor. Michael Duff is rated “touch and go” after being forced off last week with a calf complaint.

Palace will be without the services of Damien Delaney for the next couple of matches. The central defender sustained a calf injury at home to Liverpool last time out and has an “outside chance” of making the Gameweek 15 clash with Spurs, according to Neil Warnock. The Palace boss has also confirmed Adrian Mariappa “might be out a little bit longer than Delaney” with the knee injury sustained in training last week.

Everton midfielder James McCarthy will be assessed after limping out of last night’s win over Wolfsburg with a recurrence of a hamstring injury. Aiden McGeady recovered from a weekend illness to play the full 90 minutes.

Hull are without frontman Abel Hernandez for the next two league encounters as he has returned to his native Uruguay for the birth of his child. Steve Bruce will welcome back Mo Diame, though, after the midfielder overcame the knee problem that forced him out of last week’s encounter with Spurs.

Marcos Rojo has returned to training for United, though it remains to be seen whether he’s fit enough to be considered this weekend after a recent shoulder injury.

Alan Pardew revealed Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Cheick Tiote and Emmanuel Riviere have all returned to training for Newcastle, those was somewhat coy on the quartet’s availability, saying “I don’t want to give too much away”. The Magpies manager is confident that young winger Rolando Aarons will be back next week and also confirmed Ryan Taylor is out for only three-to-four weeks after sustaining a slight knee problem last weekend. Tim Krul is a doubt for the trip to West Ham, however, after picking up a training ground knock.

After serving a three-match suspension, Rio Ferdinand will be assessed for QPR’s clash with Leicester. Harry Redknapp is hopeful the defender will be fit, though the Hoops boss ruled out Adel Taarabt once again, admitting “He’s still not fit and still not training”.

Mark Hughes has revealed Asmir Begovic, Geoff Cameron and Phil Bardsley have all picked up a virus that is sweeping through the Stoke camp. The Potters hope to have Marc Wilson and Erik Pieters back in time for their trip to Anfield after both missed out last week – Hughes went on to reveal that Wilson has returned to training, while Robert Huth is closing in on a return from a calf complaint.

Saido Berahino is in contention for West Brom after overcoming a “minor hamstring” problem according to Alan Irvine. The Baggies also has Sebastien Pocognoli back for the visit of Arsenal, while James Morrison is hoping to recover from illness.

Stewart Downing and Cheick Kouyate both returned to training for West Ham yesterday, Sam Allardyce has confirmed. The Hammers boss admitted he’s less positive on the other three players – Alex Song, Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho – that missed out last weekend, though he reckons Mark Noble “might” be back in contention after being forced off in the 2-1 defeat at Goodison.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

      Selling. A few reasons

      - McCarthy's recurrence of hamstring injury. Same period as Baines, was rushed back. Once bitten and all that
      - Seems like he's a doubt for this weekend. I don't think he will be risked in a winnable game vs Hull midweek, saving him for City. Don't see returns there.
      - I really want an extra bighitter in attack

Given injuries its hard to ditch at the moment, so i may keep but not play for at least 1 more week and see how they do. It does feel wrong to ditch the top scoring defender, after all its not like he got there purely by chance.....

      Sold Pelle.

Keeping Bertrand AND Clyne but only playing one of them. Makes sense to see how they do, rathe than ship out before we know how their defence holds up. My bench is Bertrand Jedinak and Wisdom so I can afford to get rid slowly but also see how they do against city.

At this stage, their fixtures look bad but they're a much better team than Liverpool and are playing better than MUFC.

Can't afford Bony or Rooney without taking 2 hits, so I will keep him. City had a difficult midweek game against Bayern and struggles to keep a clean sheet away from home, so the donkey may not be a bad choice after all. I will probably offload him next week, though.

No-one here knows. Hamstrings are notorious for recurring injuries but, if completely healed, then there's no problem. So, he could either still be feeling it and therefore won't play for a week or so, or it could be completely ok and his omission yesterday was just to be completely sure. Either is possible.

Greetings to everyone today. I really like Sakho long term but he seems to be out and next GW is too close for a recovery so I'm in a spot of bother. Which option do you like with 2 FTs?

A: Bertrand + Pelle > Shackell + Rooney (c), Boyd comes in for Sakho

B: Sakho + Pelle > Kane + Rooney (c), remain with double SOT defence at the back

    C: Bertrand + Sakho + Pelle > Shackell + Austin + Rooney (c), 4 point hit

    Stupid question:
When looking at your FPL team, what is the colour that stands out?
    Mine is blue.

If Baines and Duff are both out, what is best option?

    A) Baines to Azpi

    B) Duff to Hutton

    C) Save transfer and play Tadic and Boyd instead of them.

LOL I have all of those defenders plus Bertrand.
      I'd propably save

Keano walks because of strain of Villa and Ireland jobs. We don't play until March. Maybe someone at Villa didn't appreciate Roy's lack of political correctness 😉

I'm thinking I'll have a few players out, this week. I want to sort my defence out as well as sorting the injuries. What's the best move here?

    Courtois
    Baines* / Clyne / Moore
Sanchez (VC) / Di Maria / Siggy / Chadli*
    Aguero / Costa (C) / Sakho*

    Dummett / Wisdom / Albrighton
    1 FT / 0.0 ITB

    A) Clyne > Naylor
    B) Clyne + Moore > Naylor + 4.7 (-4)
    C) Save FT
    D) Other

    Thanks in advance, all.

What's your selling price for Chadli and Sakho? Maybe consider doing Clyne to Naylor and upgrading one of them, then do Moore to Yun next week?

With Burnley winning the last 2 you'd expect them to keep the same team and not start Arfield, right?

Doing some undercover work on Chadli. I've infiltrated the Tottenham fan forum as much as it pains me. They probably know nothing, but will pass on whatever I find out.
