FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Cup X – First Round Draw

Today, we bring you the draw for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the qualifying rounds for the competition took place over Gameweek 13 at the weekend.

First of all, entrants with a score of 44 points or more have earned a spot in the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X. If you scored 44 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed. As usual, then, the standard was very high – just ask Mark – he’s been knocked out in qualifying with 41 points.

While Mark fell at the first hurdle, Granville’s lineup progressed and he’ll face juramentardo in the opening round, which takes place this weekend. Mark does, however, live on through his combination ScoutCast team with Granville – that lineup made it through with an impressive 62 points and will face off against Clueless XI in this round – a suitable opponent.

Our reigning champion, Gribude is, of course, one of the former winners who earns a bye to the first round and he’ll face deporhostia in the opening round as he bids to become our first to successfully defend their crown. Others taking on former cup champions include confundido who takes on some chap called Jonty, while AmberGamer who faces ex-champ donnellyC.

There are no less than 14 top 100 managers in draw, including the current FPL world number one rayvas – definitely a name to avoid should he make it past pkilleen in this first round.

Other eye-catching encounters are Laurel Hill‘s tough tie against Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league leader Tinkerman, who is currently 270th overall, our moderator Greenwindmill’s battle against Canary Wharf, and Cobblersnz’s match up with our team news man Demi.

There are also some notable match ups between well known community members with Sporting facing Davysteen and  4Vets against 1966 was a great year…

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action but for those that missed out this time, there is some good news as we  aim to run another Cup competition from March next year.

In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

    Guzan-Jakupovic
    Azpilicueta-NTaylor-Wilson-Wisdom-Hutton
    Sanchez-Fabregas-Hazard-Siggy-Wanyama
    Aguero-Austin-Rooney

Any suggestions for the next gameweek? I was thinking costa back in for rooney and fabregas out for eriksen, gives me some extra money to upgrade Jakupovic or Wilson, any thoughts?

Spurs play at home against palace, maybe a good time to bring eriksen in?

i'm personally not chasing that guys points... he hasn't really been scoring when expected to...

but if you want to, who would you drop anyway?

Yea indeed but he already scored 5 goals though, i was thinking to get costa in(dropped him for rooney last week, but rooney didn't play lol), but you can only get 3 players of the same team so i have to drop fabregas/hazard/azpilicueta then, with his 4 yc fabregas seems the more obvious choice here. As a replacement for him, i would go for eriksen then.

If I've already got Fabregas and Hazard, how bonkers is it to get Costa in for Rooney this week? Assuming Rooney is out.

I use the comparison tool a ton, it's by far my favorite feature. The way it lays out the difference between players is great in showing their stats over the last few matches and helps me with players on teams I don't watch enough of and gives me more information when making a transfer decision. The tables are the members tables like the ones Wakey and Doos make, to name a couple, that also I find very helpful in seeing how players stats are trending each gameweek.

season ticker with all the sort options

comparison tool, which gets better and more handy as season progresses

most important, i view it as "tipping the bartender" for this site i enjoy so much for what still is very little money relative to the time spent enjoying being here

i do also like the rate my team feature, though that too becomes better later in the season, and its imperfect for using as a short-term tool (as i think some detractors do)

When 3 o'clock on a saturday comes anything can happen it's why we love the game... I found that chatting with you lot is better than using the tools. I'm doing ok compared to other years this year but I haven't used the tools as much as I thought I would.

Have you actually tried to use the tools? Or do you not understand how to use them? Or maybe you just don't like stats.

No worries Yeah I've used the comparison tool but I must say it did take some getting used to and it would have helped with a user guide or something at first its alot to take in.. I mean I know its not rocket science but I find it scrambles your brain more than if you go into the actual site or on here and look at next few fixtures etc.....

What i'm trying to say is I think it adds to your problems for transfers etcc....

Each to their own I suppose. You'd think it makes 50/50 decisions easier with the comparison tool, tables show you the best performing players over the past few weeks, even RMT might be useful if you use it correctly.

All in all, whether you use stats or not, the members' articles which spoon-feed everything to you and the actual support you give to the site is worth the 15 quid alone.

Honestly it's just that a good few people put a lot of time and effort into providing us with this place to talk about this silly little game that we all seem to enjoy so much and for the sake of a measly 10 or so pound we make that possible for them to do so. It shouldn't be an issue and I'll continue to give that 10 or so pound until such a time comes that I no longer play FPL

A few years back when those fixture list data asshole owners took away the freedom to print out the fixture for public viewing, this site was left without the ticker list which is a basic fundamental of a football forum. Go over to TFPL & have a look at there's.

The table feature is brilliant, I use it for general football analysis more than I do for FPL analysis.

The season ticker is also very useful.

The KPI index is also a useful tool that I want to use more. A few weeks ago I suspected that Downing played better (from a FPL pov) away from home and when I looked at this tool it completely backed up my hunch, giving me the confidence to play him away from home rather than rotate.

      The members articles.

      Supporting the site.

Last year was my first as a member and I had an awful season, this year I'm still a member and am having a great season. It takes a while to get used to the plethora of information in the members section and to work out how to best use the tools to suit your style of play.

      1. To say thank you.
There's a lot of time and effort put into this site, not just from Mark, but from all the contributors, mods... The £10 fee boils down to less that 20p per week, and that's worth it even just to say thanks.

      2. The community.
Where else on this planet can you have a massive discussion about whether Azpi or Cahill are better for BAPS? There's a lot of similar minded football fans here, and if you're really into fantasy football, nobody else in the 'real world' can be bothered listening to you moaning that Lukaku got an assist...

      3. The STATS and members articles.
The available stats really are very good, and useful. Season ticker and comparison tool get used most often by me. I played FPL for two years before this site: 100K and 500K. Then i started going on here most days, and achieved ranks of 10K and 1K(so far).

It's only this year I started using the tools though not that much. I have started using RMT to see if it makes any difference. Don't base my whole planningo n it but want to see if it helps with difficult moments.
The members cup is fun also.
Supporting the site may seem easy to say but pretty sure this costs a fair bit to run and pay for all the development and maintenance fees for certain elements. Mark being a millionaire already doesn't bother me.

The tools are extremely useful. I'm quite quantitatively inclined so I love being able to see the stats. If you know how to use them, they are a real god send.

Amazed how many here are members but don't use the tools. I'd have a much lower rank if not for them.

I'm very analytical which is what appealed to me about joining. So I love the rate my team features and the comparison tool. That said, I have become massively disillusioned by the fact every time I use the "system" to pick players or plan my team it all goes to pot

At this stage, I doubt I'll renew. That's not a slur on the site, which is superb. But most of it is till available for free anyway and I think I make better decisions trusting my own judgement. I'm aware that this is mainly based on me having my worst ever season though!

I simply don't want Mark to ever go away.

I give my money to Mark because I want him to earn money from this site and always keep it going.

I get hours and hours of enjoyment from reading these posts and from using this info to dominate my league.

I'll go in order of most frequently utilised:

      1. Season Ticker
Invaluable when choosing your defenders, because if we plan for the long term in our back line then we're able to focus our transfers up front.

      2. Comparison Tool
Football is so much more than statics but, FPL a stats driven game. You cannot know the true worth of a player until you understand what kind of underlying statistics he's producing.

      3. Paul's Member's Articles
The weekly Big Numbers & Tactical articles give us context in which to better understand the crush of numbers that we deal with here.

This is the first season I have been a member and I'll pay every season from now. The extended season ticker, rate my team tool, comparison tool are all fantastic. Since I got my team sorted out from a not so great start I've have green arrow after green arrow even in bad weeks. I put that squarely down to better choices made through what I read on here. It's also made a difference in other games, I have some telegraph teams doing very well. Not just me though, I know others who've joined this season and its transformed their season so far.

Like most on here I'm more than a bit obsessed by ff so I get hours of enjoyment out of this site, 15 quid is not much to pay a year for that.

Should also say, stewart Downing. Perfect example of the advantage of this site. Because of his past few seasons I wouldn't even have considered him this season. When you see the stats and the analysis of why he's getting returns it's a no brainer and he's in most of my teams. In various games. That is why this site and the members tools are worth it.

      1. Members stats tables
      2. Big Numbers - favourite article of the week
      3. Members Cup - might even qualify this time

Most of all to support the site. If there were no members then the site would either look a lot different or not exist at all.

Having coded my own version in the past...the season ticker alone is worth it to me.
The time I save having someone else code and update it worth more than 15 quid!

After that, the opta stats tables and the comparison tool.

      Comparison tool is UNREAL.
Did that striker score 2 goals from 2 shots? (unsustainable)
      or
2 goals from 10 shots with 6 on target (very sustainable)

That kind of info can be the difference between buying Di Maria or Sanchez.
      (Hint: you should buy Sanchez)

omg. I forgot the RMT, it's kind of just an extension of the season ticker...but it's so easy to swap a player in and see if it makes your team "better".

Obviously you have to realise how the numbers are calculated and that some players will be way over or under valued. For example, all Liverpool players at the moment!! 😛

Similar to what others are saying, purely to support the site. I never use the tables or anything in the background, but the number of free articles they churn out and the community that they've created means they deserve my support.

They've got real costs (servers, development) and opportunity costs (Mark could be doing other stuff with his time). While it's a labour of love for him most likely, it ties in with a passion of mine, and is well worth supporting. Buying a membership is the best way to do it.

    Hey guys,

I want to bring in Cresswell. I can't see any better options in the sub 5.5 bracket, and it's a bonus that he is highly unlikely to be rotated over the Xmas fixtures.

To fund this I need to lose De Gea.
I like both Guzan or Foster until the January wildcard. Who would you prefer?

I like Villa's fixtures better, they're coming up against a lot of teams with a 'blunt' attack.
However one caveat is that I have Myhill as backup, so I would feel safer owning Foster

    Thoughts?

        yeah, that's my expectation.

        Baines to start: 90%+
Chadli to start: 20% but 60% chance off the bench
