The Fantasy Flutter – Gameweek 18

We go head-to-head with Paddy once again this Gameweek and place our faith in a trio of in-form players with tasty looking fixtures on their Boxing Day menus. Arsenal’s resurgent frontman, Man City’s little magician and Tottenham’s Danish maestro are all called upon in our bid for a Merry Christmas.

Our first port of call is the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal face a QPR side that have lost every away match this season and scored just three times on their travels. Four goals in six appearances since returning to injury brings Olivier Giroud into contention for this one, and despite the form of Charlie Austin, we’re going to back the hosts to win this one comfortably – with Paddy offering 13/2 on Giroud to score two or more and Arsene Wenger’s side to collect a clean sheet, we’re shelling out £3 on this one.

Next up we head to the Hawthorns as West Brom host champions City. The odds are on Manuel Pellegrini’s side to deliver at both ends of the pitch in the Midlands match – they’re looking for a seventh straight win here and have conceded just a single goal in five. Paddy are willing to offer 11/2 on David Silva to score and City to earn clean sheet and we’re backing the little Spaniard to get amongst the goals once again – we part company with another £3.

Our final cash is splashed on Tottenham’s trip to struggling Leicester. Christian Eriksen’s sparkling form looks too good to ignore here – the Dane has scored in two of his last three away appearances, with only Chelsea keeping him at bay. With Paddy prepared to offer 8/1 on Eriksen to score and the north London outfit to keep out their hosts, we make this our bet of the week and hand over our final £4.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up on this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Meh, its just predicted lineups. The guardian isn't much good at that by memory.

What should I do with this?

    Guzan
    Clichy Azpi Baines
    Siggy Hazard Sanchez Nasri
    Austin Lukaku Costa

    (McCarthy, Downing, Moore, Yun)

0.0 ITB and 2 FTs, am happy to use both if needed.

Get rid of Lukaku? Swap an extra defender in? Get rid of Costa?

    And Sanchez captain, right?

    Panti (Krul)
    Chambers, Naylor, Hutton (Creswell, Duff)
Sanchez (c), Fab, Siggy, Yaya (Downing)
    Costa, Austin, Bony

    A. Creswell to DeMichalis (surely play all 3 fixtures, great CS potential)
    B. Creswell to Apzi (more long term but don't fancy Xmas returns)
    C. Duff to Oshea
    D. Duff to Wisdom (bench)

Probably Fab or RVP for me.

Had the armband on Haz until he went off on Monday but too much of a risk of reduced game time for today, will definitely leave on line up but not (C). Sanchez looked drained in last match and will be rested at some point, RVP was also hauled off after 60mins in the last but there is always a chance of goals so I would probably go Fab. I have armband on Costa.

      Hazard (c) Silva (vc)

If Hazard is injured, he won't be in the squad. It's a massive game for Chelsea so if he's fit he starts. Hazard's home form and penalty duties make him a great option. If he misses out, I'm happy to captain a nailed on Silva, against a faltering WBA side, who looks set to benefit from City's new formation.

Sterling (giroud vc) because Liverpool have created over 30 chances in the last two games (utd, ARS) and Sterling is leading the table for shots on target the last two games. Only the last two games are relevant since Liverpool played a completely different tactic and formation before the United-game.. and bookies have Sterling to score at evens

Cazorla: mix of goal-scoring potential and assists, under Arsenal's current system. Arsenal's top form player in an easy fixture.

Van Persie: terrific form, and if his sodding stupid manager can leave him on the pitch, should get at least one.

van Persie(C) - After playing only 60 mins last game, he is likely to start imo. Also, Newcastle are in a bad run of form, and van Persie has 3 double figure hauls in his last 5 games. Hattrick incoming 😉

Bony(vc) - Nailed to start, consistent home form. Reliable VC.

      Bony(C) and Fabregas(vc)
Bony cause he's been rested and is at home to Villa
      Fabregas for his consistency
even though i have Sanchez (think he'll be rested and isn't in great form), Haz(don't want to risk him not starting), Costa (been burnt enough times) in my team

Way too early to tell, I usually decide 3 seconds before deadline.

      (C) YYT and (VC) ADM for now, probably will captain Di Maria. Would C Sanchez of course, but too scared to do it.

Giroud - Great fixture, somewhat inform, takes a lot of shots

Vice captain - Sanchez. If Giroud doesn't play surely Sanchez will. He may be looking tired but this is a fixture he'll dominate in with his pace.

Hazard (c) - his form is really on the rise and he's a big game player (this is now a big game). Yaya VC for reliability.

There are others I would captain if I had them (Giroud particularly), but I don't see a big enough swing to justify replacing Costa before a home game.

      Giroud (C) and Yaya (VC)

      Giroud (c)

Can't see Giroud being rested over the likes of Welbeck or Sanchez. QPR is a plum home fixture for Arsenal and Giroud's stats are very reasonable. Gone for YYT since I'm confident he'll play although I may still switch vc to Costa.
