PlayON Picks – Gameweek 5 – Free Entry, £250 Pot

Our Friday lunchtime regular comes round once again, as we scour the PlayON player price list ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45am deadline. As usual, we offer a couple of picks per position, with an essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

This week PlayON have a FREE ENTRY, £250 Guaranteed Pot on offer, as well as their usual £1,000 Guaranteed Pot for a £5 entry. In addition, there is a £250 Guaranteed pot for each of their daily games on Saturday and Sunday – See the Guaranteed Games Here

Goalkeeper – Vito Mannone
If you fancy a flutter, the Black Cats stopper could be on course for a first shut-out of the campaign. Mannone – who sets you back just 7.2m – rolls up to face a Burnley side that has scored just once so far; with star striker Danny Ings sidelined due to a hamstring injury, the hosts may well struggle for goals again. A promising start to the season saw Tottenham’s defence serve up back-to-back clean sheets before conceding in the subsequent two. Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping for a return to that earlier resilience as Spurs welcome out-of-sorts West Brom to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon – Hugo Lloris also comes in at 7.2m in this week’s PlayON Player Price List and faces a Baggies side that have failed to score in each of their last three matches.

Defender – Kieran Trippier
Burnley’s right-back looks one to watch this weekend. The newly-promoted side have recently upped their resilience and kept out both Manchester Utd and Crystal Palace in the last two matches – as evidenced by our selection of Mannone, we’re expecting their home clash with Sunderland to be a tight affair but if Sean Dyche’s side can find a way past their opponents, Trippier – who managed twelve assists in the Championship last season – is the man most likely at just 7.5m. A home encounter with Crystal Palace offers Leighton Baines (8.1m) a chance to continue the form that has served up a goal and two assists in his last couple of appearances across all competitions. As results improve for Roberto Martinez’ side, the left-back’s points potential at both ends of the pitch may well prove crucial against an Eagles side that shipped three in their previous road trip under Neil Warnock.

Midfielder – Stewart Downing
West Ham’s in-form midfielder offers an under the radar option as he prepares for the visit of former club Liverpool. In spite of a number of new arrivals, the Reds still look far from convincing at the back and with a goal and assist accrued already, Downing looks a decent shout at 8.6m. We’re heavily backing the Toffees this weekend for the home clash with Palace. Kevin Mirallas welcomes the Eagles in a rich vein of form and has now scored in each of his last three appearances – the Merseysiders warmed up for this one with a 4-1 Europa League thrashing of Schalke and, at 10.3m, the Belgian looks too good to ignore.

Forward – Radamel Falcao
The Colombian arrives at Old Trafford with a phenomenal record, scoring 104 goals in 139 appearances for his previous European clubs. Introduced to the proceedings as a sub last weekend, Falcao takes up just 10.1m of your budget and while he’s by no means certain to start, could still wreak havoc off the bench as the Red Devils roll up to Leicester. Rested for Tottenham’s Europa League exertions last night, Emmanuel Adebayor international will be fully refreshed for a plum home clash with struggling West Brom. Available for 10.6m, the Togo international has already delivered a goal and two assists in his first four fixtures and will fancy his chances against a Baggies backline that has conceded at least twice in three of the opening four Gameweeks.

Head over to www.playon.co and get picking ahead of the 10.45am deadline tomorrow morning.

There is one FFS tweet, "Everybody is ready to play, Diego is not in the best condition but he will start. If he plays he won't play against Bolton". So I assume that is all that is needed

I really wish they would set the tweets to show when you are in an article as well as on the home page, upvoting if you agree may bring it to their attention.

I'm ruling out Aguero and Costa as it will be low scoring
Scout cast point about Balotelli having a negative effect on Sterling is valid, which only leaves Ramsey as a heavy-hitting captain choice...

I wouldn't get him for that either. I'm just saying this week is one of the 'safest' weeks to choose someone like Baines. After this week it will be back to default options like Costa.

No, I want players on my bench to score well as well.
It means that they are on form for when you do play them and that their price will keep increasing.
No point in having crap on your bench just so you feel better looking at 1s and 2s on there.

Hmm both are good options maybe both if the transfer is free and then captain costa/Naismith. If not free then the second option

get rid of Krul and Terry ?

Get rid of Terry, mcgeady, Bojan and Bruce. Not necessarily at once but they need to go. Consider baines Coleman Ivanovic Moreno Lovren duff for defence. Naismith Welbeck Pelle for forwards. Schneiderlin chadli for midfield.

So Chambers is expected to replace Debuchy?
Do they have any other RB options?

Benylin or some such player. Played in the Champions League midweek, probably because Chambers was still suffering from illness.

The young lad who played in Dortmund. But it'll likely be chambers

It's just a matter of weeks vs. months he'll get the spot though so, perhaps holding off one week to see how Debuchy's injury pans out would be best.

I plan to take the WC next GW. For this GW only, would you do which of the following?

      A) Moreno + Lukaku (C)

      B) Baines + Lukaku (C) for -4

      C) Baines (C) + Lukaku for -4

      D) Coleman + Lukaku(C) for -4

      E) Coleman (C) + Lukaku for -4

      Think I'll bench Naylor

      Shackell has a nice fixture

I have to play Caulker even though a set-piece goal v Stoke seems unlikely.

Clyne and Naylor play each other but I can see both teams scoring so on that basis Clyne's history of attacking returns away from home swings it.

      Dear everyone,

It took 4 weeks & a net loss of £0.6mil along worth 8pts to get to this point, where I feel comfortable enough to say I'm wrong but, more importantly, I'm sorry.

      Goodbye Mata.
      Hello Fábregas.

      Yours truly,

This isn't a knock on Mata per say.

And, unfortunately, only his goals / points from this season count towards our totals.

In the end, his rotation risk & Fábregas' superior play have won out.

I'm wrong & it feels good to admit it.

I've 1.5 in the bank and one free transfer.

        I don't speak yank 😉

You've got two defenders who are less likely to give you returns than others for under 5.

I'd be looking to ditch Caulker or Colo, preferably the latter
