Sterling not taking a penalty in a European game for Liverpool just some that boy up for me,
He is not on the top level of footballers that everyone seems to think that he is,
First he's too tired to play for Liverpool and takes a holiday too Jamaica, was too tired to play against Estonia for his COUNTRY. And instead of stepping up like a boss tonight he piss his pants and let the team down imo. Who the feck lets Dejan Lovren take a penalty lol,
Sterling needs to grow a set.

      a) if you don't think you're going to score a penalty, don't take it
      b) he's so called holiday was a rest given by his manager - Liverpool have not lost a game in the league since
      c) name me one english player who puts his country before his club

also he's played the most minutes at lfc and of any 20 year old in the world, and he's an attacker. If you don't nurture progress and minutes, players will get injured a lot (Michael Owen)

He was tired so his manager Gave him a trip to Jamaica .. Wtf has football come too lol,
Rodgers should never of gave him that holiday.
Fergie would of slapped one of his players if they said they were too tired,
And not having the bottle to take a penalty just shows how much of a puss bag he is,

Pretty damning to say a front player of Sterling's apparent quality is not confident of scoring from 12 yards from a pen. I think it's more to do with b*lls tbh

Well you're having quite a go at Europe's best talent...simply because he didn't take a penalty. He could of been tired from playing 120 minutes or not mentally prepared to take it. If Lovren wants to take it, Rodgers is right to let him. Hitting a penalty from that distance is not hard. I can't believe some footballers miss the net.

Got nothing against Sterling but he is over rated because he is English. Great pace, average shooting, okayish passing.

He doesnt strike me as the kind of player that would step up and smash it in the net.

Why should Sterling take a pen cos he's an attacker??? Not seeing your point.

He's naturally not a good striker of a football and never takes any dead ball set pieces so what makes you think he would be good at pens? His main attribute is pace and that won't make him take a pen any better.

Mind you, Lovren taking one is criminal. He's worse than awful.

Disappointed to go out of Europe of course, but not gutted. I really wanted us to win it, like any other trophy, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise to focus on getting 4th. I've slated Lovren all season, and I think he's pretty rubbish, but it takes guts to take a 5th penalty as a CB. I don't see the fuss about Sterling not taking one, if you don't think you'll score, don't take it. He had a poor game, as did Sturridge, so I wouldn't have banked on him scoring.

Anyway, in FPL terms, Arsenal LFC MCFC not being in Europe means that Sanchez?, Sterling Silva Aguero are top options. They'll play Saturday to Saturday for the rest of the season too. I know we could same the same about ADM and United, but they're quite not so good 😉

there's a reason were out and its because of Rodgers, get top4 and leave. he will always flatter to deceive. the sooner we get a proper coach the better. At least he'll leave a very decent squad for the next coach.

He has a lot to learn in Europe, a lot. Team selections, rotations, tactics, how to approach home and away games. If we get 4th then he's entitled to another year. We as fans have to manage expectations too. We sold a world class player and had a net spend of 30m, with making 0 first team improvements (well maybe Can).

no he doesn't deserve another yr, it will end up being a waste. we're going nowhere were like arsenal a couple yrs ago. the players brought are all his the fact their isn't much 1st team improvement is down to him. we had over 100mil there's over 100 players that could improve our side he just couldn't attract anyone that isn't young or close to entering their prime.

Strange that. It's net spend with Liverpool but not with anyone else. 😉

I have seen many Liverpool fans on here and elsewhere talking about Chelsea buying the PL this season. Despite the fact that we have a net surplus over the last 3 transfer windows and have been living within our own revenues for 4 years now.

The Torres transfer in 2011 was the last one that came out of Roman's pocket. And that was the one that finally taught him that playing fantasy football was pointless.

Let's be honest. Chelsea where nothing until Roman came along.. That's why Chelsea in general have bought what they won.

Typical trite nonsense. In the 7 seasons before Roman arrived we finished between 3rd and 6th in the PL every season and qualified for Europe 6 seasons out of 7.

The investment he put in simply equalised the financial advantage United had enjoyed for 20 years and took us from a 3rd-6th club to a 1st-2nd club. I don't recall United being accused of buying success though.

People like you have a frozen view of football based in the 70s and 80s. Your team is now a weak Europa League level team ranked 40th in Europe. All you can do is to snipe at more successful and bigger clubs.

Finally, I used to watch Chelsea in the 2nd Division and even in the 3rd Division back in the dark days when we were trying to rescue Stamford Bridge from the hands of property developers. We used to get 20k crowds even then. To dismiss the history of another club at any level as "nothing" is unbelievable arrogance.

Liverpool were very much a lower league club till Shankly came along you know. Much more so than Chelsea ever were.

Utter nonsense. You were never title challengers until Roman came along and literally bought the title. Its deluded that you keep going on and on about the last 3 years ignoring how much was spent over the previous 7 or so years.

Shankly didn't have billions in reserve tho which is my point.. We won with what we had. If Chelsea had won a few leagues or champs league and then Roman came along then that would be fine but Roman did come along, spent millions and won it all. That's why it's hard for the Liverpool and United fans to accept Chelsea and City's success

Times have changed. Celtic won the European Cup with a team who were all born within 20 miles of Parkhead. Nottm Forest were all British and mostly Midlanders. That doesn't happen anymore.

Of course Roman gave us the clout to jump the final step. It couldn't have been done otherwise. But the same could be said of Walker's Blackburn. What sticks in the craw of Liverpool and Arsenal fans (amongst others) is that we have done it so well that we are now self-sufficient and aren't going to melt away as they'd like us to.

How much have chelsea spent the last ten years? You keep going on about the last 3 years but your success was based on heavy spending in the last 10 or so years. Chelsea wouldnt be where they are now had the FFP rules been brought in when Abramovich took over.

No. Maybe we wouldn't have bought Torres and Schevchenko. 😉

When Roman bought the club he wanted to play fantasy football. Schevchenko, Smertin, Zhirkhov, Torres were all luxury signings that he personally wanted to do. None of them helped us but there was no constraint on him doing it.

There is a very long history of this in football. The thing that riles fans of other clubs is that we have made it stick and turned ourselves into the 2nd biggest club in England living off our own resources and within FFP. The Liverpool fans, the Arsenal fans, they can't stand that. Because their frozen view of "history" says that they, and only they are entitled to that status.

As a man who has PVA and wisdom rotting in his team, what do we think of the move Terry -> Bertrand?

Also frees up the funds to bring in Eriksen for the double.

No wonder England does poorly. They don't support the players, they bash them at any chance.

Examples: Tonight with Sterling and Gerrard's slip...

At first I found Gerrards slip funny but actually felt a bit sorry for him quite quickly.

My issue was regarding all this contract nonsense and then not taking a penalty. I found that disappointing as I've been concerned with aspects of his attitude this season. I'm not going to bash him as a player, I think he is potentially a little overrated but then again I think nearly every young player is overrated, it is the nature of the game.

I'd be the exact same (and have been) if someone like Rooney was acting up, as I have been about players from Dortmund who get too big for their boots (as I watch Dortmund an awful lot).
