FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Cup XI and Members Cup V – Second Round Draw

This evening we roll out the second round draws of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as the fifth Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup.

There were mixed fortunes for our former FFS Paddy Power Cup former champions, with our team news man Demi’s score of 35 proving too much for past winner Wild Rover as he cruised through to the second round to face Brain Stem.

Gribude was another former champion to fall, with Snotgrass’s tally of 40 knocking him out in the first round. Toon_army_htl was the conqueror of reigning champion CMIFLFC, while former winner GoonerDave also missed out on a second round draw, after being removed by Blue Mooners.

That leaves three former champions in the competition after Jonty (that’s me) eased past Big Dolls to set up a round two encounter with Bahahahacelona and MCH defeated Aliminator to face Jonny in the second round. Donnellyc was another victorious former champion and he takes on I Just Did A Torres in the second round.

Other notable second round clashes include CB’s match with Mark, and Leaf’s clash with Paul.

Among our former Members Cup champions Trigg’s first round victory was the most eye catching. He saw off the top ranked FPL manager Dufflinks by the slender margin of one point in what was a low scoring week for many of the top ranked players. Trigg now faces Pdes in the second round.

Another former winner Fuzzy Dunlop was less fortunate. He fell in the first round to another community regular Jafooli, who now faces Mrben.

With Dufflinks’ departure, 12th placed Gratuzo is the Members Cup’s highest ranked surviving manager. Red5 who is ranked more than 400,000 places behind Gratuzo will be hoping to emulate Trigg’s success in claiming a big scalp in the second round.

The full draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI can be found here, while the draw for the Members Scout V can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

With these refs, any UCL game can be ruined at any moment. It's been awful recently.

Surely Clichy will start Saturday lunchtime vs West Brom with both Kolarov and Sagna starting tonight?

Always wanted to face an opponent I had heard of in the fantasy cup. It finally happened and I didn't realise the draw had even been made!

Brilliant news. Beat them and you have an excellent chance of being in the scout notes. I am playing someone from Uzbekistan in the PP cup but he looks to have a stronger team than me

Gazza is a bit of a knob as person but what a player. Posted this mainly for Gary Mabbutt, good player and an absolute gentleman, one of my heroes. Thought it deserved a mention.

It's really hard not to love Messi. If Neymar had got hit by Kolarov like that, he'd still be on the ground. Messi popped his head up to see what was happening with the ball.

It's an interesting question, because I feel it's so hard to compare players across different leagues/eras/positions. I also think footballing statistics are so lacking. There's basically goals, which I don't think tell the full story. Usually the short list is the likes of Pele/Maradona/Messi/Ronaldo etc, all of whom were great strikers/scorers, but are they definitively better than some of the best midfielders of all time? I really have no idea.

Still, I'll say Messi, from my limited field of knowledge.

I'm not arguing he wasn't, just saying C. Ronaldo fully deserves to be there with "Pele/Maradona/Messi"

I did, although I only saw him as Fat Ronaldo. Cristiano is amazing, and I guess he makes a lot of people's lists but Messi is better for me.
