The Big Numbers – Gameweek 31

With the previous Gameweek finally coming to its conclusion yesterday evening, we now take time to delve into the data. Amongst tonight’s topics are Chelsea’s stand-in striker and in-form wide man, the City midfield, Palace’s form players at both ends of the pitch and Villa and Arsenal’s clinical frontmen.

Seems like all parties agreed on a provisional date before outcome of the replay and lots of chatter about it being GW 34.

The fact it had already been discussed and will be announced tomorrow suggests GW34. I hope so.

With all the blanks in gw33 who are the keys to get in this week to cover both weeks?
Southampton are tempting but rotation seems to be an issue for me.
    CPal & Swansea maybe.
    Happy to have a punt.

Actually prefer Leicester to any WBA options, Berahino only one but think there's better options in Murray, Gomis & Pelle.

Get a goalkeeper who has a double in GW34. That's one key to getting an extra DGWer without a gap in your team for gw33...

      Cheap leicester players like Schlup...

Silva is one of the untouchables for me in current form, along with Ivanovic, Hazard, Giroud and Kane.

Aguero is droppable, depends on the DGW-ers I want..

no, let's say your front 7 is

            Hendo, Silva, Sanchez, Hazard

            Studge, Remy, Kane

you somehow need to work towards getting Giroud and Ozil/Ramsey

How do you then get that. You either sacrifice Sturridge or Silva

Well I can bench Hendo, Philips and Austin in GW33 and get rid of Hutton and Naughton (no blank but ruled out) in next 2 GW's allowing me to field 11 in GW33 without a hit.

Already have 2 Chelsea for GW34

So which teams/players to bring in - Schlupp seems obvious, but who else?

JK. Gw 34 is far better for us. Firstly it catches people on the hop without Liverpool or Hull players, secondly its immediately after gw33 that has just 7 fixtures and thirdly it allows you enough time to recruit for gw37 dgw.

Austin and Benteke were good options in a week where there were only 2 teams.

With 6 of your players likely to be Liverpool and Chelsea then hull not so much for me. Wouldn't mind getting one in maybe but not in any panic

I don't see how. Not if Liverpool-Hull is GW34 as well.

If both are GW34 I will probably have 9-10 DGW players in my team that week, as good a team as possible in GW33 with little wasted on the bench and 5 for the DGW in GW37. Would be the ideal scenario and one that I badly need after last week's disaster.

Bad enough to put my OR back to where it was in GW24. I didn't have a single DGW player. Catastrophic might be a better description. 😉

Captain Hindsight here 😉 but DGW should always be seen as an opportunity regardless of how unappetising they look.
Yes, it can be a damp squib but riding the wave when it pays off is the buzz.
When I look at my team, 8 players scored a total of 26 pts but team scored triple figures, luck yes but it's giving yourself the chance of getting lucky I guess.

              DGW players = Hope. 🙂

It's my first FPL season and I just totally undervalued the importance of DGW players. Mishandling the two DGWs probably cost me 60+ points.

It has been my biggest lesson of the 2nd half of the season. The biggest lesson of the first half was how to structure a squad right for FPL.

If you ask the question about mega fails, it's often bad DGW captain choices. I had Milner years ago, he was hot but injured early in first game & picked up 1 pt, the other choice was Dempsey and he scored handsomely over both games - I had Milner but that's the game for you.

for example my ML leader only has Zouma and Costa from Chelsea, no Pool. How does he get 3 x Chelsea (that will play both) and 3x Pool (who have a blank) in 2 GWs

      yup I think so

But given Arsenal play Hull in GW35 you may well want 3 Arsenal in for that. It makes it very hard to transition into, especially if you have Silva, Sturridge and Remy and low tv.

Kane plus 2 Arsenal and Pantilimon. Don't need City players. You can then immediately get one in for gw35

then it simply comes down to a choice for me

If Costa is fit I'll get him and Coutinho, if he's not then I have the choice or Remy and Ozil/Ramsey or Fabregas and Giroud

If dGW for Liverpool in GW 34

    GW 32
    Naughton to PvA
    Austin to Remy

    GW 33 - save FT

    GW 34
    -4
    Lescott to Skertl
    Eriksen to Henderson
    Silva to Coutinho

Gives me 3 Chelsea and 3 Liverpool

I have 2FT so I have to use one now..
    Which is better?

    A) Bellerin -> Schlupp (preparing for DGW, both will be on bench this gw anyway)
    B) Cazorla -> Fabregas (preparing for DGW..)
    C) Giroud -> Remy (preparing for DGW)
    D) Any other suggestions?..

    Team now is

    Panti
    Ivan Clyne Alderwield
    Hazard Silva STerling Cazorla
    Aguero Giroud Kane

not for me with their DGW in 37

Not enough GWs if Pool go into 34 to get all your Chelsea and Pool players in

GW34 wc then transition into Arsenal players, so maybe keep 1 in the wc team

Pool have great fixtures till the end of the season bar GW36

You'll be ditching the Chelsea forward anyway for an Arsenal one. Ant Leicester or Hull players you'll have can go and sit in your 3rd bench spot

              what's the problem?

  26. Puyol Pants Up

I know its early, but how would this look for a DGW team? (Assuming DGW 34 for Liverpool)

    3-5-2

    Davis
    Skrtel, Ivan, Terry
    Hazard, Silva, Coutinho, Henderson, Mane
    Aguero, Kane(Or someone else)

      Davis > Schm

      Aguero > Studge.

-Davis will probably outscore Schm with his single GW, (and better long term)
-Already have 3 chelsea and at this stage I prefer Ivan, Terry, Hazard
-I have 3 Liverpool players (Skrt, Cout, Hend)

If Pool DGW is confirmed for GW34 how does Eriksen & Austin > Hendo & Remy for free sound?

Only have Sanchez (and Pants) atm with a blank so can stash Hendo and still field 11 in GW33

Means getting rid of Erik with Villa at home although I've reached the end of my tether with him and would be getting rid the week after anyway

    Pants (Krul)
    Clyne Terry Toby (Dawson, Wolly)
    Haz Alexis Erik Silva (Cork)
