Sky Sports Focus – Fantasy Football Scout League Details

As we mentioned yesterday, the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game is now up and running ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

After winning top spot in the League of Leagues for the past three seasons, we’re looking to defend our crown once again and hope to make it four times running this year.

For those playing the Sky Sports game, we’ve set up an official Fantasy Football Scout league – the name is FFScout and the pin number to join is 8009000.

Last season, we handed over a cool £1,000 to the Fantasy manager who finished at the summit of the Scout league and hope to offer prizes once again this year – which should be incentive enough to assemble a team and get involved.

Over the next few days, we’ll be rolling out Player Price List analysis articles, breaking down the options position by position and offering insight into each player’s potential.

Once the season gets underway, we’ll be bringing you hints and tips in our weekly Friday afternoon “Sky Sports Focus” articles, analysing the market trends and looking at transfer tactics for the Gameweek ahead.

Our regular contributor d1sable will again be at the helm to offer his expert advice – he’ll be looking for yet another top 100 finish after a storming end to the previous campaign.

We’ve set up a new community article to exclusively deal with Sky Sports Fantasy teams. Those looking to get involved with the discussion should click this link.

what do you guys expect from Yaya this year in terms of pitch time and positionning on the field?

Like with past seasons, depends alot on how often Aguero gets injured as he gets to take penalties. Otherwise, i expect him to chip in with a 4 or 5 goals perhaps, but barely getting assists. Overall, wouldn't touch him, with a more temptng option priced .5 higher, imo

I guess it involves a lot of nodding and smiling when the customer speaks and then pointing to the most expensive item.

Is that the tactic you use when talking to Mark on the Scoutcast? Smile, nod, and veer him towards Yaya Toure.

Club like that has got to have a set of rentals or something that you can use here and there. I worked at the Beavercreek Golf Course out in Colorado, and I was always able to use a set of the rentals when I went out to play about once a week. Since you work at the course, you should also get to practice for free, perhaps. Maybe go to a local thrift store (if you have those where you live) and see if you can find some secondhand clubs for sale. If nothing else, get a putter and sand wedge and chip and putt around the practice greens. You could also start dropping hints to customers/club members about how you are in need of a set of clubs. Do it casually and such. Maybe the right guy will come along who has an extra set or some extra clubs that he would give you. (sorry this is long)

Cheers for the advice. I've been to the driving range a few times and borrowed my friends driver. I'm so bad at driving. But my iron work and putting is pretty good for someone who's never played.

Ha ha. I'm pretty much opposite. Good off the tee, a bit of a disaster after that. My putting especially is bad. If I could fix that, I'd lower my score by several strokes a round at least. Still have nightmares about three-putting a par three after I stuck the tee shot about 3 feet from the hole! Argggghhh!

A great idea would be to hit up one of the club pros for a quick tip session on driving. There are several key things to do if you don't want to end up spraying your tee shots all over the place, like Tiger Woods.

Just done a 7 way rotation ( 1 anchor of Chelsea Def) to find out what is the most effective/efficient GK/Def partnership for the 1st 8 weeks. The final results are based on price/points per game/ difficulty of opposition/ home record and away record last season and the best possible Home/away rotation.

    GK:
    LEICTER: S'land H, 2 3 , B;mouth A, Villa H, 6 , Arsenal H, 8
    S'LAND : 1 Norwich H, Swansea H, 4 5 B'mouth A, 7 Wham H

    DEF: (Assuming Chelsea Anchor)
    Chelsea: Swan H, City A, WBA A, Palace H, Everton A, Arsenal H, Newc A, S'hamp H
    Lpool : 1 , B'mouth H, 3 , Wham H, Norwich H, Villa H, 8
    Bmouth: Villa H, 2, 3 Leicter H, 5 S'land H, 7 Watford H
    W ham : 1 , Leicter H, Bmouth H , 4 Newc H, 6 Norwich H, 8
    Norwich: Palace H, 2 Stoke H, 4 B'mouth H, 6 7 Leicter H

That's a pretty back 7 for the starting 8 games.

        Simple terms: (refer above)

        Leicter GOOD Gameweeks: 1 4 5 7
        S'land GOOD Gameweeks: 2 3 6 8

        Etc

He often does during the tricky away games where Mourinho likes to park the bus e.g. City away GW2 he almost certainly will. Since Chelsea start with tough fixtures, I think it makes Fab a good shout...

Only problem is I don't want to downgrade Walcott due to his goalscoring prowess, and may potentially be played up front too. So it's either Cesc + Lukaku or Hazard + Wilson. I prefer the first pair, but some more opinions?

Yeah, but call it right, or not far off, and that spot is very profitable...

Naismith > Sakho > Austin > Berahino > Kane > Vardy...last season...and most FPL teams did quite a few of those swaps...

Yeah but I'd use that spot as Sakho's spot - he's my cheap third striker. I need a decent second.

But it's true....how many of us keep the same player in that spot for the season....virtually none of us...if any

I wish I had last season

i started with Austin in that spot

It would have yielded far more points than swapping around between the Berahinos and Naismith's of the world

Yeah, not bad mate. That's defo challenging but I've found out that if you want to stick with both Aguero and Rooney then you need a 5.5 striker and 2 cheap mids.

                something like this is do-able

                Henessey/Ruddy

                Ivan, Souare, Francis, Huth, Coates

                Hazard, Walcott, Cabaye, Ritchie, 4.5

                Rooney, Deeney, Kun

                        yeah but see below Jaf

if Kun is out GW1 I think you can wait until GW4 at which point Theo may be a dead duck anyway so you could start with Theo and Ozil/Rambo then lose one of them GW4 to fund a mid priced striker out for Kun

                        I've seen

I'm also not overly keen for 3 reasons

                        a) Sakho
                        b) Ritchie (don't want hom and Wilson)
                        c) lack of flexibilty, If you want to jump on a mid priced bandwagon you'll struggle with those 2 up top

Not necessarily bad to have 2 mid priced mids just think you don't need to start with them if Kun is out GW1

Here's a draft I was keeping for later:

                        8.5m
                        Ivan Kos Francis Huth 4
                        Hazard Silva Ramsey/Ozil Chadli 4.5
                        Aguero Deeney Wilson

I reckon this is pretty strong. You could downgrade Silva to Sterling and get Walcott for Rambo which would give you 0.5 to rotate keepers or get Fabianski/Panti.

I agree there won't be much flexibility wiht the forward line, but hte mids and defenders are strong.

see I think if you just stick to the one big defender you get a better spread so something like

                        8.5
                        Ivan, Soaure/Ward, Huth/Morgan, Coates, Francis

                        Theo, Ramsey/Ozil/Silva, Haz, Ritchie, 4.5

Deeney, Rooney, Sakho (or anyone up to 8.5)

Come GW4 you then decide if you want to keep Rooney or Silva (if you go for him over double ARS mids/Mata)

That's another draft I have. Going with Ivan and 4x4.5 gives you a front 8 of:

                        Hazard Silva Walcott Mane 4.5
                        Aguero Deeney Wilson

                        Or: Mane>Chadli, Wilson>Sahko.

Problem is no Utd, which is why you may want a Utd mid instead of Mane, which required Silva or Walcott to be downgraded.

what is possible though is to start with one bigger mid than say Cabaye and downgrade in GW4 to fund your mid priced striker to Kun (so could get a Mata/Cesc.Ozil type)

This is more or less what I have done: Haz, Kun (assuming he starts), and Ivan, and build around that. From other fantasy games, I have seen that it's good to have the clear studs at their positions, and then have a group of "value-based" producers surrounding them. I also learned last year that it is important to spread the wealth a bit at all 3 positions. I am currently on (and it changes by the minute):

      Schmeichel, Fabianski
      Ivan, Kos, Morgan, Prodl, Francis
      Haz, Ozil, Chadli, Ki, Wanyama
      Kun (Costa), Benteke (Sakho), Deeney

Will the Ayew signing affect him somehow though?

Ah, good point. If that is what we see in pre-season, then I will downgrade either Kos (A. Williams or Cedric) or Benteke (Sakho) and bump Ki to Ritchie.

Fair enough, always good to have a plan B.

Thanks. As many have, I'm toying around with various configurations, but my overall strategy centers around selective big hitters. By leveraging the excellent wisdom of the community, it provides a quite few options depending on injuries, etc.

Just to clarify earlier post re Walcott, Gibbs and Oxlade Chamberlain looking similar, I was of course referring to referee Andrew Mariner sending off the wrong player and most definitely not some attempt at racist humour - I don't do that sort of thing!
