The Community Round Up

Chips dominated much of this week’s discussion as triple captains and bench boosts proved pivotal in double Gameweek 37. Our community articles assess how the savvy use of chips has already helped Fantasy Premier League’s most experienced managers, while our hot topic posters consider which other chips could be created for next season.

Gameweek 38 came under scrutiny in this week’s discussions and in a recent Members table. We look back at those, whilst taking another scan of our community league standings to find out who is clinging onto first place ahead of the season’s final set of fixtures.

The Community Articles

Bench boosting in Gameweek 37 proved crucial for the Fantasy football veterans being tracked by Kavali. His penultimate look at their rise up the rankings also reveals the mixed fortunes for those who used their triple captaincy chip on a West Ham player.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or perhaps some early thoughts on Euro 16 brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With just one Gameweek to go there was plenty of advice on hand for ensuring the season finishes on a high. In our hot topic on early Gameweek 38 planning, Arsenal and Southampton players are firmly on the radar. Meanwhile, Andy85wsm took a look at some of the best differentials on offer for the final set of fixtures.

Balders weighed in with his Gameweek 38 stat attack, and Ruth NZ chimed up with a timely warning on taking final day hits. Meanwhile, we quizzed you for your fondest memories from the final day in previous seasons.

Earlier in the week there was an end of term feel to the discussions this week with many of the community already looking ahead to next season, assessing potential rule changes and key players to draft in.

Bonus points for Bournemouth’s Charlie Daniels but not for Sunderland’s goal scoring striker Jermain Defoe reignited the debate about how these extra points are allocated in the Fantasy Premier League.

With most managers having played their chips, the community took stock of how bench boosting, tripling captaining and all out attacking fared in their inaugural season as well as suggesting new chips for FPL to consider introducing for 2016/17.

Key midfield targets to draft in next term also came up for discussion, while Bedok asked whether we’ve seen any flashes of brilliance at the tail end of this campaign that could get close to replicating the value offered by Riyad Mahrez this season.

Elsewhere, Careless Genius’ hot topic on how important it is to look beyond underlying statistics and see players in action inspired many of you to declare the new season resolution to watch more football.

There was also a degree of hand wringing as, following on from our Scoutcast post-mortem of our season’s biggest blunders, we also asked the community to reveal their major regrets.

Along similar lines, Jaffalicious! opened a vast can of worms by calling on the community to look back at their Gameweek 1 lineup, allowing some to take a pleasant trip down memory lane, while others were left red-faced at some of their early season decision-making.

The Members Tables

Fruitbat has tailored our own goals imminent table to focus solely on midfield options. This also has a global filter, with last two and last four matches the best indicators of potential success.

Going into Gameweek 38, my tables on the best and worst defences and attacks may also prove useful when assessing where rare final day clean sheets may come from.

The Community Tournaments

In the FFScout moderators and contributors league, second-placed Evs has a 34-point mountain to climb to take first place from long-time leader Andy.

The Going Out With a Bang league, which is used to assess how the chips are being used for the season run-in, continues to be topped by Daniel Kemp. League organiser Kings of Lyon has also provided an update of how Gameweek 37 panned out for those taking part.

With a score of 125 points, James Ollerenshaw climbed above Ralf Buckenmaier to take an eight-point lead at the top of Red Lightning’s Top 10k Any Season . In Red Lightning’s January to May there was no change of the top, with Sam Isaacs going into the final set of fixtures with a three-point advantage over Burhan Samaan.

Lucy was crowned champion of Jaffalicious’ FFS UEFA Champions League. She defeated HVT 93 to 89 in a closely-fought final.

Bowstring the Carp’s Double Gameweek Yes/No challenge was won by Cruicky, who managed nine out of 11 questions correct. He has also set a similar challenge for Gameweek 38.

Elsewhere Saniul clings onto first place, just two points ahead of Back on the Horse, in the Long and Winding Road main league going into the final Gameweek.

Spectrum and Newton1982 won Balders’ Wimbledon Doubles final in straight sets against Still Unsure and Mr Alex by 197 points to 174. Both Spectrum and Newton took hits to bring in Eden Hazard whose late goal on Wednesday sealed the tie.

Finally, Miroslav Janac won TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing competition, which attracted 3446 entrants this year. He also goes into the final Gameweek of the season in the top 500 in the overall rankings.

Finally, if you’re seeking to indulge in the Euro 2016 Fantasy games, we’ve launched a league in Uefa’s official offering. We’ll have much more on that game and Euro 16 from next week.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

No Rojo or Januzaj for Man United tomorrow.

"Adnan Januzaj and Marcos Rojo are the only absentees from the 18 players who travelled to West Ham in midweek, with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson expected to slot in at left-back."

United squad: De Gea, Romero, Valencia, Varela, Smalling, Blind, Jones, Borthwick-Jackson, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Mata, Lingard, Memphis, Young, Rooney, Martial, Rashford

You realise that it doesn't predict scores for a particular GW. The reason those players are there is because they haven't scored recently.

If Payet wasn't at training and if he didn't get on the team coach for Stoke, that all but confirms he's out imo.

          Might as well.

    17 points outside 10k

might have to go Mane, he's the one with the potential to get that

Amidst recent rumour, the Express are now reporting that
Dimitri Payet will miss West Ham's visit to Stoke.

Remember martial rumours with no confirmation from official website or LVG?
Got hamstring and will not play against WHU, he start and scored a brace.

Any chance like this for payet???
    Hope he is fine.

    Mane or Tadic?

    So, now that's serious decision.

    A) Sell Payet and Rooney to Mane and Rondon for -4, start Redmond and have Lanzini as 1st sub.
    or
    B) Sell Lanzini and Rooney to Mane and Rondon for -4, start Payet and have Redmond as 1st sub in case Payet starts.

    Help please?

i'd want to avoid a hit in the last gameweek unless it was absolutely necessary.

i certainly wouldn't be selling Lanzini or Rooney this week for a -4.

Rooney plays as DMC. And want to have a fun for last GW. So A or B?

Reading the article I thought 'own goals imminent table' that's pretty niche, Richard Dunne still knocking about?

Payet and Coutinho to Ozil and Mane woth -4?

Likely no GK (Migs/Henn) and only 5 point lead

Trying to work out who my rival bought in from his TV change

Sorry for being thick. If he bought a player at 7.7 and he is now 8.6..does that mean his sell value for my rival is 8.1. I just want confirmation really

GTG, have Noble coming off the bench if Payet doesn't play.
Worth a -4 anywhere? Maybe in defence?

    Cech
    Cresswell Bellerin PVA
    Milner Sanchez Payet Mahrez
    Kun Kane Martial

    Robles Noble Simpson TFM .
