Injuries

The Weekend Team News

David Luiz is set to turn out for Chelsea this evening. Yohan Cabaye remains doubtful for Palace’s encounter with Stoke, ‘Boro’s Christhian Stuani will be assessed for the trip to Everton, whilst Eddie How is keen to court caution with Jack Wilshere’s minutes.

Here’s the lowdown on the press conferences so far..

Dejan Lovren has recovered from the eye injury that forced him to miss last week’s clash with Leicester. Emre Can misses Liverpool’s trip to Chelsea tonight, though returned to training earlier in the week.

John Terry has been ruled out for the next 10 days due to an ankle problem. David Luiz is set for a second Chelsea debut tonight as Liverpool roll up to the Bridge.

Eddie Howe has revealed “there is no rush” to bring Jack Wilshere into Bournemouth’s starting XI as he allows the midfielder time to build up his fitness with minutes off the bench.

Swansea winger Nathan Dyer is set to undergo ankle surgery and will be sidelined for two months. Francesco Guidolin hopes to have club-record signing Borja Baston available for the trip to St Mary’s.

Christhian Stuani and Jordan Rhodes are both doubtful for Middlesbrough’s trip to Everton, Aitor Karanka confirmed yesterday. Grant Leadbitter and Fabio remain sidelined.

Mark Hughes is optimistic that Mame Biram Diouf and Glen Johnson will be available for Stoke’s trip to Palace after both returned to training. Xherdan Shaqiri is still sidelined with a calf injury.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed Everton have no new injury concerns for the home match against ‘Boro. New loan signing Enner Valencia is included in the squad and could be handed a debut.

Alan Pardew has revealed that Pape Souare will be out for up to six months after his involvement in a serious car accident last weekend. Connor Wickham and Bakary Sako are expected to be available for the visit of Stoke, though Yohan Cabaye remains “touch and go”.

Ashley Barnes remains Burnley’s only absentee for the trip to Leicester due to an ongoing hamstring complaint.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Joel Matip: "If an opponent tries to talk to me during the game, really, I don't give a f***."

Play Foster (v. West Ham) or Heaton (v. Leicester)?

Foster seems the better pick, but I reckon West Ham will be keen to avenge the bad result against Watford last weekend, while Leicester comes of an unfamiliar european midweek match. Play Heaton for save points?

You're just making it sound that way. You could also just as easily justifiably say that Leicester have just come off the back of a 3-0 win and West Ham lost to Watford, so Foster is the better pick...

    Foster,
    Shaw, Stones, Pieters,
    Hazard, Alexis, Payet, Redmond*,
    Ibra, Lukaku (c), Gray*.

    (Jakupovic, Capoue, Amat, Friend).

Firmino is an excellent choice. From watching them every week, I just expect Manè to go wild pretty soon.

I say it every week. Mane looks like an explosion waiting to happen.

yes he does, but Firm showed last week that he is also explosive. Besides, many don't have the 0.5m extra for Mane.

I may well go down the get them both route in a few weeks.

Well Iheanacho is in on my 1 week punt before activating WC.

Question is who to captain. I hate the play safe pick Ibra because of 63% ownership malarkey. Takes the fun out of the game.

    So who gets the armband:
    A) Sanchez (13.5% ownership)
    B) Lukaku (14% ownership)
    C) Iheancho (5% ownership)

    Thoughts appreciated

Ha I'm actually very tempted. It's currently on Sanchez but the home to Bournemouth fixture is so tempting for Nacho

    For the armband...

    Lukaku
    Kane
    Ibra
    Sterling

Cannot decide. Been on Kane all week but confidence is wavering.

    1. How do we feel about Deeney as an option with his good fixtures?
    2. Which defenders would best supplement Valencia/Baines? I'm thinking of getting Robertson, Collins and Amat. Is Amat the best 4.0 option and is Collins nailed? Westham/Hull rotate well for 4.5ers but maybe I am overlooking some other?
    3. Is having a 4.5 enabler risky for when one of my players doesn't play? Who should I look at for a 5th mid?

      1. Never went near him last year but always seems to pop up. Great differential
      2. Staying clear of West ham defence. 4.5m bit of a gamble as not many teams are keeping cleans. Holebas for attacking or wba cover
      3. My 5th mid is garbage doesn't even play

Do you think Aguero price will rise before his flag gets taken off after the mid week game?

    Morning folks,

who is better option (instead Barkley)?

    A. Antonio
    or
    B. Bolasie

I don't like Bolasie at all, I had him twice last two years and I had always the same feeling: disappointment. He has a huge potential, but I am not sure if he is good FPL option.

Otherwise, Antonio has scored 4 in a row and the question is: how many goals he can score his head this season?

      A for me.

Pre-empted this, fancy West Ham to bounce back. Barkley hooked at half time suggests he might not even start. Antonio in before the price rise and WC next week to get Bolasie in for Everton cover instead of Redmond I think!

Not both City. If it's a 1-0 you've probably lost out.
