The FFS Cup – Sponsored by FanDuel – Third Round Draw

This evening we reveal the managers who have made it through to the third round of the 13th instalment of our open to all Fantasy Premier League cup competition.

For this latest contest there are more than £1,000 worth of prizes for UK based entrants courtesy of our partner FanDuel, as well as £350 in Amazon vouchers to the top three managers at the end of the competition.

Last year’s winner I Casillas Winning’s score of 55 saw him overcome Tufs to set up a round three clash with Allezlechef. Just 10,000 places separates this pair in the overall rankings.

Gribude is another former cup holder to make it through. He beat Allgonepozzo in round two and faces Cok3y5murf next.

Ex-champ MCH also progresses, after seeing off Shem Bayley. He takes on community regular Rhinos in round three.

Sadly, the second round marked the end of the road for another former winner, Ninja Fit Saints, who was beaten 70-49 by Jurgen.

The highest scoring manager of the round and recipient of a £30 FanDuel credit was DaJoeyNdo Show, whose sensational score of 95 left Stoorey’s tally of 40 for dust and saw him leap from 346,603rd in the overall rankings to 57,443rd.

Teguh D Puncak, who he faces next, is unlikely to be worried though as he sits more than 50,000 places higher within the top 5,000.

The four next high scoring managers, who all receive a £10 FanDuel credit, were Captainjpd, Delt_eple, DJDave1979 and Dogba.

Andy85wsm, the competition’s only Scoutcast representative to make it past the first round, marches on. He beat Lardy to set up a third round tie with Anuliz.

Two other members of our moderator and contributor team also make it through. Greenwindmill will face Archie, while Stilicho squares up to lowlifegimpe in round three.

Other notable match ups in the next round include Lateriser12’s encounter with The TinMan, Parm’s tie with TommyJ and What the Fans Say community article writer Bolivian Seaman’s clash with Al Fresco.

The manager to draw the short straw in round three is 433,854 ranked Malvern Angells. He faces Dempele, who at 177th is the highest placed manager remaining in the tournament.

The second round results can be found via this link, while the full third round draw can be found here.

Good luck to those still involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

thinkin of bringin in Kane for Costa this week which will cost me 4 pts as I already brought in Walcott for Coutinho.

    Worth it??

Would you do Aguero to Costa?

Contemplating the same move myself, just want someone to talk me into it !!
I have Kane Kun Austin, & Haz/Alonso, aside from Chelsea's good fixtures i think the extra $$$$$ could be used to beef up squad for busy Xmas period with inevitable rotation & injuries etc..
Will be manys a hiding behind the sofa on a saturday though ...

It's very tempting! I would worry about spreading around the extra $$ though, may make it difficult to get Kun back in?

I suppose would have to cross that bridge when we get to it, can always go with the latest Allen/Moses/Zaha or whichever cheapie mid comes on the scene to get that couple of mill needed, and like others have said I think he will outscore Kun over the next few weeks anyway..

Could do that yes. I have one priority signing next week first though (Arnie to Siggy) so prob not worth a hit, so I might bring him in for the Sunderland game...and there's an outside chance that Kun gets rested against Watford the same week?

Could be a good move. I think which two out of Aguero, Costa, Kane and Ibra at which time will be key decisions going forward.

True that, I think I will stay away from Kane and focus on the other three...but that could also be a big mistake, especially if he bags a hattie this weekend with a lot on here captaining him!

This is the question. I was all set to get rid of aguero next week for Costa. Much will depend on my trust for kane to deliver as (c) in those juicy home fixtures upcoming. If he does the business against Swanaea this weekend I might just swap aguero for Costa next week. I Could really use the cash elsewhere.

Do we reckon Randolf (4.4) is a safe bet between the sticks for WHU going forward ?? They have great fixtures from GWk 16
Looking to finally offload Jaku in 2 weeks time, Pickford my other keeper..

Had argument on FB page the other day with ML guy that is 46pts ahead of me and said only 7 trades all season why he doing well. I've -8 in hits but over 2m better TV. I could overhaul 46pts in 2 good GWs

I doubt that the 2m will gain you 46pts in a couple of week. Not the Way too look at it imo.

I agree that the 2m can definitely help you catch you him in the long run

Team value is absolutely crucial, but not at the expense of points.

There's a careful balance to be found between chasing players for their contribution and, in turn, getting their rises and between chasing/risking hits on players to avoid drops/rises when the move really isn't all that helpful.

What the best way to get it higher? Why is it important?

In the second half of the season, high value can make the difference between being able to afford 5 premium mids and forwards and 6. Or it allows you to invest more heavily in the good defences down the stretch. If the premium options are all firing this can be an advantage.

Of course, it doesn't always help, particularly in season like last year when cheap options were doing very well, and there can be some costs to attaining it in the first half of the season.

By jumping on to bandwagons early, and selling when they're on the turn.
More TV becomes more SV which equates in you being able to spend more money on your team, as opposed to players who don't play the market who are limited in their future team selection.

        Ok gotcha.

I did Coutinho to Siggy before Coutinho dropped cos i want to increase value.

I haven't had Costa all season and if you started with him your TV would sky rocket.

Just target good players who will get you points, value will generally follow.

Team value is only important until you've used your second wildcard and then it's irrelevant. Never chase team value at the expense of points.

      5. bigbudgie
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 5 months ago

well obviously if you have a high sale value then, for example, at the next wildcard you have more in the bank to spend therefore you can afford higher value players and have a 'better' overall team - in theory. Sadly FPL points don't always work that way!

I lean towards Alli. I know Eriksen has set pieces but that hasn't translated into many points this season. Too many of his corners hit the first man. He has always annoyed me in fantasy football. Alli for me.

Similar situation in my ML. A lot of them don't really understand team value etc though which has always given me an edge. But the fact most of them only really make transfers in the few hours before the deadline means they don't take the same risks I do with early transfers etc.

Unimpressed last GW and no midweek game. I think he will start from bench unless he plays CB as people said last week.

Who do you think is the better buy: Costa or Kane with no Che/Tot midfielder.
IMO, no Tot midfielders are worth picking up, but Che has some interesting options (Hazard, Pedro, Moses). Do you think just owing Pedro from Chelsea would be enough or is Costa/Hazard a must from Chelsea?

I have doubts that Pedro is adequate Chelsea "cover".

So are you implying that Hazard/Costa is a must from Chelsea even if that meant not owning Kane?

I'd say Costa is the best Chelsea pick, then Hazard. If you're going cheaper I might look to Moses ahead of Pedro.

Would anybody do a -8 to bring in Sigurdsson for Allen (by getting rid of Kone too) if he looks to drop before the Saturday deadline? Would anybody do a -12 to bring in Cedric for Williams if they both look set to go up before the Sat deadline?

No. Allen has a great fixture. Wait a week.

Cedric for Williams is more reasonable.

If any of them change price, I can't do it at all. I am looking at the fixtures and my team would be set, injuries aside, until Jan if I can do the three changes.

If you'll be priced out of the team you want for the long-term then there is more sense to making those moves now.

My team will look like this if I do them:
            Cedric, Walker, Holebas, McAuley, Tymon
            Firmino, Sigurdsson, Pedro, Hazard, Sanchez
            Aguero, Austin, Anichebe

            Thoughts?

              So it's Williams, Kone & Allen -> Cedric, Tymon & Sigurdsson -12?

I definitely want Cedric and Siggy for their run of fixtures. Might be worth it long term.

Yeah but it is him or Anichebe and I have no guarantee Allen will be played as a 10. If Hughes says he will be at the press conference, I will play him. If it isn't mentioned, I'll keep Anichebe in my starting lineup

Beginning to feel like Sanchez > Hazard transfer at the beginning of last international break was a massive mistake.Lost value on him, he didn't drop much/wasn't injured, back up to 11.4, has as good a fixtures as anyone. Hazard 6 pts from last two, Sanchez 15.

Think the only solution is to have both...

The other point is that you'd save transfers in the long run if you hold onto 'season keepers' and captaincy options like Hazard, Sanchez and Aguero.

            G'day managers.

Have I selected the right bench set up and starting 11 this week??

            0ft / 1.3itb

            Heaton
            Alonso / McAuley / Cedric
            Firmino / Hazard / Sigurðsson / Snodgrass
            Kun (vc) / Austin / Kane (C)

Pickford / Pieters / De Roon / Friend

One goal and one assist so far, although I agree his stats are good. Can't finish for his life though.
Stoke good chance of CS, which I would rather have.

But is also playing the joint number 2 team for goals scored with a forward who on average has scored every 83 minutes this season.

Bet365 has the odds for a Stoke cleanie @2.25, whereas they have the odds for a Chelsea cleanie at a whopping 5.0

Anyway, Dingo, it is of course your team. Just trying to be the devil's advocate here. Don't own neither defences, but just don't think you should be blinded by the price or future potential of Alonso.

Probably Smith, as he had the biggest chance of attacking returns. Neither will keep a clean sheet imo.

I am keeping. Not the worst defender to have during tough fixtures, as Pulis will probably try to rely a lot on set pieces.

Definitely not the best fixtures but from now until GW 27 only 5 really tough matches...

Don't get me wrong, it looks like a good front 8 although I haven't checked how well Zaha and Ani rotates.

Personally I would would just prefer to have to big hitters in attack, as I can see all of Kun, Kane, Costa and Ibra being solid options in the near future. Having Austin and Ani in attack gives you very little flexibility.

Yeah it's that tradeoff isn't it. Mark made a comment on scoutcast about how hazard and sanchez were going to be the top scorers this season, and I figured if I had them both and Aguero, that should be a pretty solid attack. Of course the tradeoff is no Kane and no Costa. If I were to sell Aguero i could possibly get them both instead.

Yeah of course you can't have them all. I went with this front 8::
                      Sanchez, Hazard, Siggy, 5ish, 5ish
                      Kun, Kane, Austin.
I am lacking a pool mid, but I think they will struggle a bit compared to other options.

Yeah i actually would. Think the main 6 can be played each week for the foreseeable future. Either I'll have a decent 4th mid with some tough fixtures or two, who rotates well over the coming period. Currently still Snoddy and Allen, but ALLEN is a definite transfer out after Burnley match.

I have always played 3-4-3, although it has been a mistake so far this season. I think it will revert back to 3-4-3 being the optimal formation now.
