    Valdes, Jaku
    Valencia, Brunt, Jones, Pieters, Kingsley
    Sanchez, Eriksen, Phillips, Stanislas, Allen
    Ibra, Kane, Anichebe MITB: 6.2

Should I get Lukaku for Anichebe and not be able to get a premium defender, or upgrade Allen to Coutinho and then upgrade Kingsley to Walker the following week?

He has yeah, but really annoyed with his 3 bonus points when they get a CS. 4 double figures already and one 9 pointer. It's killing me in my ML. I'm getting him and playing him till the end of the season.

Last time he had 2 saves and 3 bonus points. Come on... All he has to do is get a CS. Of course he's the one who saves a penalty kick also not Foster. 🙂

Mind made up, but thanks for the input. 😉

Oh boo. I can't remember my DGW score, but think it was around 170.

Toby was another who scored that week. I possibly had Moreno too 🙁

Never did the maths, but I'm sure I was only marginally better off from the WC after the DGW.

I got 180 without a WC, you can easily change your team around and get some DGW players in if you plan your transfers a few weeks in advance.. Playing your WC around 1 week is a bit of a silly tactic IMO, as then you're stuck with a bunch of DGW players who could be useless going forwards.

    3. Licious Lizard

Personally I opted for the option of TC in DGW 34, WC in 36 and BB in DGW 37.
Managed to only get green arrows from GW 29 whilst preparing for the DGWs a bit - apart from a red in GW 38. (From GW 29 60Kish to a final OR of 5K-ish
      DGW 34 score: 151
      DGW 37 score: 107.

WC'd GW33 and got 67 points, followed by 159 in GW34 after bench boosting (whet from 73k to 29k)

    8. Pasqualinho
      • 14 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

Yes - but there were 2 big WC+BB opportunities due to DGWs last year - GW32/33 and GW36/37. I TCed on one of them and WC+BB the following week on the other - and I don't think there was much in it score-wise. The main thing that isn't being discussed is the compromises you have to make in other weeks to prepare yourself for the DGW if you're not wildcarding - of course you don't need to worry about these with a WC.

      1. Licious Lizard
        • 11 Years
        7 years, 3 months ago

But the thing that swayed me last year was the fact that the DGW 34 players had a blank afterwards and not particularly good fixtures if I recall. When WC'ing in GW 36 and BB in 37, you only had 1 week left with a slightly damaged squad.

        1. Pasqualinho
          • 14 Years
          7 years, 3 months ago

Very good point. It's not just the weeks before the DGW that are important - it's wise to look at the week/weeks after too. But everyone is in that boat whether they've WC specifically for the DGW or got there with multiple GW transfers.

          1. Licious Lizard
            • 11 Years
            7 years, 3 months ago

Yep. I think last year it ended up being pretty equal overall between the two main strategies, but it won't necessarily be the same this year. I really loved the planning last year trying to maximise every GW while planning for DGWs, blanks and chips.

Going to be interesting to see how it all turns out this year.

      2. Crystal
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 3 months ago

I scored more in the previous season without a WC in the doubles and that was despite a -16 hit. All the WC does is negates the hits to get the players in so you could say it's worth maybe 20-24 points which isn't a lot

    9. Now I'm Panicking
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

Not really answering the question, but last year there were mass blanks in GW30, and some people didn't plan well enough to be able to field enough DGW players in GW34 while having 11 in GW30 as well. This led to mass WCs GW33 as these people had no other option to maximise the DGWs, and therefore totally dismissed the fact a GW36 WC was a viable option as they had a blinkered point of view based on their own FPL team limitations (one mod who I won't name was particularly abhorrent).

The trick is to keep your options open, and don't listen to the biased masses when it comes to DGW time. There may be a few viable options - if so, go with the one you can do that less other people are doing - could give you a massive boost if chasing. If leading though, probably best to go with the popular option.

You can not bench a player like Rose if you own him especially against a bad defense

That's my thinking, but benching both Yoshida and Chambers doesn't feel right... (Brunt and Baines my other two defs)

Only have two playing defenders (played AOA this week):

    Grant (Mannone)
    Rose, Alonso, AKE (Amat, 3.9)
    San(c)hez, Haz, Alli, Phillips (SNODDY)
    Kane, Ibra, Defoe

I think a hit is appropriate here and am planning Snoddy & Ake >>> Baines and Davies (bench fodder) -4

    Any in agreement/disagreement? Any alternatives?

Correct. Can sell Ake for 4.2 and Snoddy for 5.6. Leaves exact money for Baines (5.5) and Davies (4.3)

Seems like a good idea then. You could consider an alternative route and do Ake -> Yoshida/Holgate or even Amat -> Colgate if you can afford. I know they are both risky options, but it will save you the hit.
That being said it depends on whether you want to keep Snoddy and how badly you want Baines.

Not fussed on keeping Snodgrass during these four horror fixtures, especially with Phillips' good fixtures. Am hoping Baines pays for the hit over the coming weeks with fixtures and penalties. Thanks!

Am liking Amat to Holgate too actually, thanks for highlighting. Definitely need to improve my bench strength. One for when I have a spare transfer (as if that will ever happen)

Do it. Only a -2 if Ake doesn't even make the squad again. Plenty of attacking potential for Baines this week too.

Really interesting documentary about Mauricio Pochettino here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksa2ZweUXTY

Favourite bit is the part about young players and how he doesn't like loaning them out because he's the best coach that can nurture the talent and sending them to a different club means they'll get managed by an inferior manager

Would probably rather sell Pieters than Evans if Evans is fit for the weekend. Good fixtures for WBA and pretty tough for Stoke.

Definitely an options as well, but Barragan could also be fit this weekend. And would prefer a Boro defender over a Stoke defender in the long run with fixtures.

Of course it depends on who's fit, but I can't see many points for Pieters in the next 10 gws or so.

Alonso a far, far better pick than Lovren. Pedro and Coutinho is tight - only because Pedro isn't nailed (once Costa returns him and Willian fight for the same position) and Coutinho has a history of relapsing when returning from injury. I'd go Pedro short term, Coutinho long term. Stay away from Liverpool defence though

    Via BBC/Mirror -

Chelsea striker Diego Costa was back in Chelsea kit today but trained alone, the Daily Mirror reports.

They have pictures of what they describe as a "forlorn" Costa going about his business alone at the Cobham training ground.

The rest of the first-team squad were given the day off after Saturday's 3-0 win at Leicester.

Looking to "spruce" it up a bit - make sure it's more consistent (you may have noticed that none of us had names under our webcams last week - that part of hangouts isn't available).

Should be able to show graphs and stuff that we're talking about as well so once the goal imminent table is mentioned it can be brought up on screen as required/needed/wanted 🙂

Not sure if or when all that will be done, we'll see.

If 3 up front Defoe & Lukaku

Aguero is not even close to consideration (yet) with a City that doesn't shine and a manager that might bench him now and then

So then you have Diomande that might score a goal or two this season

Yes but in FPL magnificent players doesn't get points...

Kante was the best player in the league last season...but in FPL he was just another 2 points a week

Pogba cost 8.5m, so he competes with similar priced and lower priced mids.

Alli, Eriksen, Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling, Phillips, Antonio even Milner (plays defence!!!!) and Siggy outscores him
