Is Tom Davies another case of a player looking better than he is because he wears low socks?

"Chelsea striker Diego Costa was back in Chelsea kit today but trained alone, the Daily Mirror reports.

They have pictures of what they describe as a "forlorn" Costa going about his business alone at the Cobham training ground.

The rest of the first-team squad were given the day off after Saturday's 3-0 win at Leicester.

Costa had a dispute with a Chelsea coach over his fitness last week."

    Hmmm doesnt sound great!

He will surely have to serve a bit more time out of the first team after his antics Conte would be sending out the wrong message to the rest of the team if he left him straight back into the first team

I think he might have to earn his place back that is the way i would play it anyway if i was Conte

Starting to think the WC for the double is a bit of a fallacy. I can get the same team as a wildcarder with a 20-30 point hit so the WC is only worth that much. Why wouldn't you play it now for the fixture swing and bring in a players for a number of games as opposed to 1 week?

Played mine early last year. Come DGW time I still scored really well due to Sanchez triple (C). I do think it's a bit over-hyped.

      1. Crystal
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 3 months ago

Aren't the double gameweekers usually the ones with blanks the week before or the week after? So if you WC to 15 DGW players it's inevitable that a few will have blanks.

Anyhow I guess my point is the WC isn't worth 150-200 points as quoted by some it's just the points hit which are probably in the 20-30 region

Yeah it's possible before and after there could be blanks.

It's certainly not worth 150-200 points, that's just the totals we got last year but so did others that didn't wildcard.

if it makes your team better now and gains you pts then I say play it. The fear is the dgw but with a few hits you could get a decent team.

I saw s lot play it this week and score close to a 100 or over which is quite a significant swing, obviously you still have to play it right

Some who didn't play it got near 100 points though, and lots got rid of Alonso on a WC. I would hold on to it unless your team is a complete disaster. OR shouldn't be a factor IMO.

You have a couple of gameweeks to get the important players for double gameweeks anyway...

I burned myself last season - WC for double gameweek 11 players....then came the injuries and had to fix the team taking hits

I would play WC now and get ahead

          • 9 Years

I don't get the "get ahead" comments I see often with regards to WCing - if that's a tactic, why not just blow BB and TC now as well? It's just paying Peter to rob Paul.

I normally save my WC but used it last week and got over 100, I have a much better team going forward and I'm glad I played it.
Last year I destroyed my team with my wildcard in preparation for bench boosting the week after. I lost 48 points in the game week before - should have left my team how it was and then taken 10 hits instead of wildcarding.

        1. Crystal

    7. GoonerByron

From memory last season, I would have got 9 out maximum in GW37 DGW with no hits.. I used the WC to get 15 so would have cost me around 24 points in hits.

Not saying one way is better than the other but as long as your team is reasonable now I can't see any point in using it before the DGWs.

      1. Snevitz
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I agree, however if you want to make 6 changes I don't think there is anything wrong with using it now. I don't think people should hold off using it as I have made an extra 30 points in one week, if the players that I picked are correct then this should increase in the coming weeks.

    8. Shultan
      • 8 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

It realy depends on your team, I'm happy with most of my players! If you want rid of 7/8 players go for it! If it's 3/4 then I'd use FT & hits
Got rid of origi & ake with 2 FT, still have costa & holebas & Evans who I want rid but waiting on more news on costa & not caring about TV. Will take a -4 hit if need to & bench one

    9. Ghost10
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

I still think it's a pretty good tactic to wait and use it before the bench boost in the DGW.

I would be wary of picking 15 DGW players however, especially with what happened last season when a few SGW players outscored some DGW players. My thinking is to build around 3-5 SGW big hitters like Aguero, Kane, Sanchez, Ibra/Hazard (if some of them have a double then even better) - guys who are capable of getting you a 20-pointer on their day – and then fill the other 10-12 spots with hand-picked DGWers. Also, it gives you more time to improve TV further, if necessary (even though prices will also likely have increased proportionally).

The only method I think you can customize your team in this way, without taking 20+ points worth of hits which negates the advantage, is by using the wildcard.

Just my thoughts – guess we’ll only see how it plays out afterwards though. At the end of the day, the aim is to give yourself enough of a chance to get 30+ points advantage on most in your mini-leagues who’ve already used their chips, and I feel this does that to a pretty good extent.

I didn't go for 3 Spurs in time for WBA because I didn't think it would be a good idea for Man City, so kept it at 2. I'm still kind of sticking by that principle as I don't expect Spurs to get a hatful this GW but I must admit I'm not quite as bullish about it as I was.

Cedric out for me. Good player but not fantasy wise, too much rotation under puel this season. I'd do him to baines, or stones I guess, or holebas, haha yeh the defence does need some work. I think stones and baines are more nailed though.

Pickford and Allen -> Jakupovic and Iwobi worth a -4?

Won't be able to afford once Jakupovic goes up. But also have the problem of having to play Pieters (MUN) this week and possibly Amat (LIV) or Mee (ARS) if Evans isn't fit. Is this the problem I need to address?

Bench grant, Amat, jones, then toss up between Phillips and stan but I may bench Phillips as Stan is on pens. I'd def consider Aoa chip if you have it and bench rose too. I'd captain Sanchez if you are doing well but Pedro is a great punt if you're chasing and costa is confirmed out

You don't realy need to own cover a certain team to do well. There's a guy in my ML who hasn't owned chelsea players at all & doing well (has spurs). Another who hasn't owned sanchez at any point & doing well (has 3 big hitters in defence). By well I mean inside top 50k, which at this point in the season I think is OK since they have all chips & WC & decent team

All this talk that Carroll's goal is better than Giroud's is really annoying me. Not even close imo. Giroud all day. How often do you see a goal like that, plus it was a good team move. I've seen hundred goals similar to Carroll's.

I kind of agree. Carroll's goal was special with that much power and precision. Girouds goal was even more extraordinary though. If he hadn't ruined his accomplishment by celebrating himself the next game instead of chasing a win ...

I see what you're saying and agree that Giroud's goal is more out of the ordinary. It's just a toss up between uniqueness and execution in terms of who's is best. Both are great!

      I will eliminate...

      Lukaku (not consistent enough)
      Giroud (Ankle injury / uncertainty)
Pedro (wouldn't but could be a differential)
Alli (City might find out how to defend after loss at Goodison)

So then it's Ibra or Sanchez

      Stoke has conceded 33

      Burnley has conceded 31

So flip a coin on those two

Lukaku, Everton are on fire and play against a weaker team.

I've just released that Jak played at the weekend, has Marshal been dropped or was there another reason for him not playing ?

Hull's next 4 fixtures are horrible, but with home games against BUR, SWA, MIDD and WHU in the next 10, it's could be a useful having him as a cheap playing backup keeper, especially if one of those game coincides with a DGW.

Could be dropped but McGregor back in a few weeks. They'll then have 3 great keepers.

You mean they'll still only have one great keeper? #jakutruthersunite

I would have him or Ozil before Sanchez at the moment

Until Sanchez scores hattrick and you loose ground to everyone who has him....

Alexis Sánchez - Last 4 games.

Goal attempts - 24 (Most in the league)
Attempts in the box - 16 (Most in the league)
Attempts on target - 9 (Tied #2 in the league behind Kane, alongside Ibrahimovic)

        Why?
Sanchez is nailed on, has higher average in the last 6 weeks and is the highest points scorer in the game. He's the player closest to reaching essential status this season.

I think the other two players could cover him now and are a lot better cheaper

Sanchez highest ppm in fpl, plays every match, best minutes per goal of any midfielder (outside of Barton's walkon the other day). If Giroud is out he'll probably go back up front. Can't see past him Sanchez tbh.
