City Enjoy Potential Double Gameweek 27

Manchester City have this afternoon announced news that potentially sets up a double Gameweek 27.

The Premier League fixture bulletin published by City confirms that, should City progress past Huddersfield in their FA Cup replay, their fixture with Stoke City will shift back from March 11, to March 8.

This would move it from Gameweek 28 to within Gameweek 27. Pep Guardiola’s men would, therefore, face a trip to Sunderland, paired with that home tie with the Potters – a hugely appealing double header.

Mark Hughes’ side, meanwhile, would host Middlesbrough prior to visiting the Etihad.

The news completely transforms the current landscape of fixtures and impacts our short-term strategies.

City will face Huddersfield in their replay next Wednesday and, should they progress to the last eight of the FA Cup as expected, the double Gameweek 27 will be confirmed.

This will immediately promote their assets – particularly in attack – and likely re-align our plans ahead of Gameweek 28.

Certainly, City’s display in last night’s Champions League win over Monaco serves as a handy showcase for the form of their attacking talents.

With Gabriel Jesus now stuck in the treatment room for two-to-three months, Sergio Aguero retuned to form with a bang and his two goals and assist against the French outfit will have many now forging plans for his acquisition.

Should City progress, the allure of handing Aguero the armband in a double Gameweek will prove irresistible for many.

The performances of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on either side of the Argentine last night won’t have gone unnoticed either.

Both bagged a goal and assist against the Ligue 1 club and, with form very much on their side, offer more budget-friendly options at £7.8m and £7.5m respectively in FPL for those who may baulk at Aguero’s £12.7m price tag.

Serving up a goal or assist in eight of his last ten league outings, Sterling has proven to be one of the most consistent midfield picks in recent months, while Sane’s two goals and a pair of assists in five underlines the German’s improved showings on the flank.

With Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and spot-kick taker Yaya Toure also vying for our attention, there’s plenty for us to consider if City can clinch that spot in the last eight next midweek.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

all the casuals have an advantage over us especially the ones who are now inactive as they will have had aguero from beginning of season as well as other city assets

If they had Aguero from the start they're probably at like 2m overall

Am I right in thinking City would play 6 games in 18 days? If so rotation is going to be a huge factor

March 1 FA Cup Replay vs Huddersfield
    March 5 @ Sunderland
    March 8 vs Stoke
March 11 FA Cup QF @ Middlesborough
    March 15 UCL RO16 @ Monaco
    March 19 vs Liverpool

Does he need to though to make the assets interesting? Both fixtures would be good and if the players you buy play over 100 mins they could be grand investments.

I had wanted Mane this week but if I get Firmino instead I'll have the exact money next week to do
De Roon & Kane -> Sterling & Aguero next week

Makes sense? or find another route to getting Mane in

True, but transfers already made this week may have been different, if we knew the DGW was coming e.g Firmino instead of Mane to free up cash for City players.

Rolling an FT to use in GW27 may also have been possible.

I wish I hadn't transferred out Agüero and kept Zlatan, but it's impossible to predict that Jesus would get injured and City would get a DGW.

It doesn't change much. It pretty much means I'll have transferred in Lukaku, then out, and then in again over 3 GWs. I'll also have 9+Stanislas for the DGW instead of 11.

Doing Sanchez + Kun > Mane + Lukaku (-4) this week gave me an insurance in case City gets knocked out of the FA cup. I'll have Zlatan for captaincy in GW27, and can transfer in Sterling for Stanislas for GW27. I can then transfer in Agüero for Zlatan for GW28 and field 11 for GW28. So there are still scenarios in which my moves are the optimal moves imo.

I hate this game at times

Was tripled up on MUN and ARS plus have Cedric and Amat, so I offload them as I go and now I have Mkhitaryan (was gonna bench) and Carroll injured. Rivals with Stoke and City players get a DGW to rub salt in wounds (I have none of these)

With regards to the popular Sanchez > Mane move, which is also on my list, I don't think so...Mane still has no blanks while Man City is off gw26. So, I think the right move is still to Mane now.

With regards to forwards, I think some may indeed alter their plans. I have already sold Ibra to Lukaku. Now, instead of being tempted to get Ibra back for that fixture, I will sell Kane to Aguero, and maybe also one of my two Spurs mids to Sterling, Sane or Silva, and then figure it out from there.

My goodness, I think I need to sleep over this nonsense. Siggy, Mane, Costa, Carroll, Kane all expendable for Kun. So much for planned moves.

Costa could easily score a brace v West Ham & Pep plays Kun at left back or drops him to play Zabaleta up front or such... Relying on Pep has the potential to go so wrong

When would be an optimal time to wildcard? Is it down to fixtures or how you're team is set up (or unset up)?

Let's say you would only have 3-4 players playing in GW28 would the advise be on a potential GW27 WC to now accommodate the City announcement? Or is it best saved for the later stages when fixtures come into play? Should you hold it out despite an ill prepared team in GW28?

I believe the WC should be saved for the later stages, and to be played just before the bumper double GW (likely to be GW 37).

This is what i did last year, probably the best choice. Wondering whether its worth sacrificing a terrible GW28 for it, as i'm sure a few managers will be going into that week with only a handful of players

Very tough one here, really can't decide so help would be appreciated. Will try to offer input for other people also.

          A) Play Funes Mori (already have Baines), Barnes (hul) and Siggurdson (che)

          B) Sanchez --> Mane and bench one of the above. If so which one? Considering I already have Coutinho, and I am now trailing in ML and OR.

          Thanks a lot.

            First draft of plan—

            GW 26 Sánchez to Mané
GW 27 Kane/Ibrahimovic to Agüero (and maybe Eriksen/Alli to Sterling for a hit)
            GW 28 Agüero to Lukaku
            GW 29 Sterling/Eriksen/Alli to Sánchez

            City rotation is concerning mind.

I would like him. He has been my bane this season, those four goals and the hattrick did quite a lot of damage.

                Second draft.

GW 26 Sánchez, Ibrahimovic to Mané, Lukaku
                GW 27 Kane to Agüero
                GW 28 Save
GW 29 Agüero, Eriksen/Alli to Kane/someone else, Sánchez

                I think I prefer it.

Makes sense in theory but week to week without wasting transfers seems best as all sorts of things can happen; price changes, injuries, suspensions, gameweek DGW/BGW

Might get Aguero in but not TC for the DGW (if it happens), let's not forget about Nacho, he might get a game

Costa better fixture but can then leave out. Lukaku worse fixture but probably want back in.

              Draft league problem...

I need to lose one this week as can't carry both:

              A. Rose
              B. Blind

Very good chance I will lose whichever one I drop from the rest of the season.

This week - Sanchez and Stanislas to Mane and Firmino free
GW 27 - Eriksen, Alli and Ibra to Siggy, Sterling and Aguero -8

              Any good?

Then might do pieters to Mawson gw 28

This probably dictates whether I take a -4 hit this week...I guess it's just a case of which one plays both games but:

Sane OR Sterling? Do you think there is much difference?
