The Big Numbers – Gameweek 35

Our post-Gameweek members article assessing some of the top performers arrives once again this evening.

With many Fantasy managers now looking to wield Wildcards, we cast an eye over in-form and in-demand attackers and also assess some of the stand-out assets in defence ahead of Friday evening’s deadline.

    Gabriel Blind Yoshida Stephens Bavies

Is it worth making big changes to that line?
Could get in Huth, or Holgate to free up a few funds

    1) Eriksen & sane (have Kane & alli)
    Or
    2) Sanchez & albrighton

    Alternatives?
Don't see any mid priced midfielders I can potentially swap with ericksen

woah.... I'm currently on A, just stressing out about not having Costa... Seems like A is more balanced - i.e. three top 6 players, but B has Costa..

A real cause of concern for anyone still holding Swansea attacking assets:

"Ashley Williams: Everton defender will not do Swansea favours - Britton"

Or, to put it another way, former colleague believes that professional will not jeopardise his job by favoritising former over current employer in breaking news shocker.

Honestly, is this what passes for sports journalism these days? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39787525

I would expect him to say exactly what was in this article, in those words, in pretty much exactly that order, including such original footballer insights as:

        "He gives everything every time"
"It's a big game for us"
"We all know the quality he's got so it's going to be difficult to beat him, but hopefully on that day we can come out with a win"
"[hopefully I will be able to] give him a little bit of stick"

(British) Sports journalism today seems to have little actual analysis, plays to the gallery and is jingoistic.

This Euro 2016 preview calling for Walcott to lead the line for England as he is would do great was particularly amusing

      http://bet.unibet.co.uk/football/premier-league/arsenal-man-walcott-could-be-perfect-centre-forward-england-win-euro-2016

In fairness to the sports journos interviewing the players is a nightmare and that is just the ones with an OK command of English as thier first language.

Jeff Shreves : Happy with the result does the manner of the close win really show what show what Spurs are about this season?

Kane: 'Well obviously at the end of the day'

Then there are the guys with little or no English

      Aguero: Happy

      Costa: Happy

      It is riveting stuff.....

The Stephens v Holgate dilemma is my final quandry.

    Stephens Holgate

Number of potential games 4 2

    Likely to start 3 2

    Likely points 3-8 2-8

I have them both in the wildcard at the moment so stephens price increase is not relevant

Both will be on the bench for me this week.

    Agüero / Kane / Lukaku

When would you play Huth ? You will only be playing 3 defenders in the single game weeks - who will you bench in DGW36 Gabriel or Soton boys? In GW38 they all have good fixtures and arguably better than Leicester. You might as well just get Holgate and save the cash

Which alternative will score the most from now till the end?

    a)
    36: Gabbiadini (Liv, ARS)
    37: Gabbiadini (mid, MAN) + Kingsley (sun)/other 3.9
    38: Gabbiandini (STO), Yoshida (STO)

    b)
    36: Yoshida (Liv, ARS)
37: Vertonghen (MAN, lei), Anichebe (SWA, ars)

b also implies Koscielny instead of Monreal all the way

        Yeah I know it's a bit messy

But it's basically whether I go 3-5-2 with Anichebe, affording both Koscielny and Vertonghen at the back or if I go 3-4-3 with Gabbi (AOA this week) but only Monreal and a 3.9 defender

    Caballero Cech
    Gabriel, Yoshida, Stephens, Holgate, Alonso
    Hazard, Sanchez, King, Alli, Albrighton
    Kane, Jesus, Gabbi.

Trying to get a secured Arsenal def as well as a Spurs def. Considering between:
    A) Gabriel, Yoshida, Gabbi (0.0 itb)
    B) Monreal, Davies, Anichebe (0.6 itb)

Trying to get a secured Arsenal def as well as a Spurs def.
    - Pretty sure Monreal will play 4/4 of the games, doubt Gabriel will play 4/4.
    - Doubt Davies will play 4/4 (Rose coming back), but Vertonghen is too ex.
    - Gabbi inconsistent, but you can't get anyone better in that price range with 4 GWs.
    - Reckon Anichebe won't do anything.

I don't see it as a problem, because strengtening the squad elsewhere will protect against Sanchez getting double figures at least, if the arsenal manage a couple of clean sheets

Certainly Jakupovic has a greater chance of a CS than Caballero this GW....

Use next GW's free transfet to make that move, instead of during WC this week??

Nah, just as likely for a clean sheet imo.. I'd rather Caballero now and have the FT next week

Palace have defeated Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea recently though. They seem to turn up for the big games

Waste of a FT that you may need imo..

I wouldn't expect that a Hull clean sheet is guaranteed because Sunderland have been relegated

WC'd last week and it was my worst GW rank of the season! Have used my 1 FT on Benteke -> Jesus...

    Is this team G2G?

    Caballero
    Yoshida* - Monreal* - Alonso
    Sanchez (c) * - Ozil* - Hazard - Sane
    Jesus - Costa - Gabbi*

    Pickford - JWP* - Blind - Holgate

    0FT, 0.2 ITB

    * = DGW players

Point in play. You got 3 Arsenal players all because they had an extra gameweek than Spurs whereas of you'd gotten 3 Spurs players, it probably wouldn't have been your worst gameweek.

      Why no Spurs anyway?

Wanted to get the Arsenal players in now for the back to back doubles, was hoping we could get something at Spurs, Sanchez + Ozil double up a nice differential if it comes off etc etc.. It wasn't to be 😛

Hopefully will improve in the next 2 GWs..!

    Okay, final question!

    A) Yoshida, Pickford
    B) Stephens, Caballero

    Would be for second keeper.

    Current XL for this gameweek

    Heaton
    Davies, Yoshi, Gabriel, Cahill
    Alli, Sane, Hazard (c)
    Costa, Benteke, Jesus

    Willy,- Baines, Zaha, Obiang

Really thinking about play with 5 in the back with Baines and bench Benteke, madness?

No Crystal still got something to play for + they seem to score against big teams lately and City defence still not really proven worthy

almost certainly but one thing i would be concerned about is pep didnt want him to play the full 90 mins at the weekend and he did. he's definitely not fully match fit.

On WC and BB in 37. Please choose one:
      A. Vert + Redmond
      B. Huth + Pedro
      C. Holgate + Sane (would also need to find 0.1m from somewhere)

      Cech, Pickford
      Alonso, Monreal, ..., Yoshi, Stephens
      Sanchez, Hazard, Eriksen, ..., King
      Kane, Jesus, Anichebe

Chasing 30 pts in ML. No WC.

      Heaton, Jakupovic
      Valencia, Davies, Robertson, Stephens, Wilson
      Sanchez, Hazard, Alli, King, Carroll
      Kane, Vardy, Jesus

      Plan:

      GW36: TC Sanchez

GW37: BB (Valencia -> Cahill, Wilson -> Holgate)

      Does this seem wise?

Reports of a 1cm term in his calf muscle, expected recovery time of 3weeks. Doubt we'll see him again!! At this stage of the season, he won't be pushing himself to get back challenging for a start, he'll take it easy and enjoy an early summer holiday
