Fantasy Premier League 2017/18 Is Now Open

After teasing us with a list of player prices and the revelation of a new Free Hit chip over the last few days, Fantasy Premier League has finally opened for registration ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Launched a week earlier than last year’s July 19 date, we now have 30 days to assemble our 15-man squads before Arsenal and Leicester City get Gameweek 1 underway on Friday August 11.

A quick look at the Player Price list shows that Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez are the priciest players on offer at £12.5m and £12.0m.

Kane’s average of 7.5 points per match (ppm) was more than any FPL regular last term, while Sanchez – who remains a midfielder – clocked up 6.9 ppm on his way to topping the charts with 264 points.

Last year’s most expensive player, Sergio Aguero drops from £13.0m to £11.5m – the same as Romelu Lukaku – with Manchester City team-mate Gabriel Jesus offering a cheaper alternative at £10.5m.

Meanwhile, City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is one of just three midfielders priced in double-figures. The Belgian comes in at £10.0m on the back of 21 assists in 2016/17, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard listed at £10.5m.

As we discovered yesterday, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is now re-classified as a forward – at £8.5m, he offers a cheaper route into the Reds’ attack than midfield trio Sadio Mane (£9.5m), Philippe Coutinho and Mo Salah (both £9.0m).

At the back, Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is the most expensive defender in the game – the wing-back comes in at £7.0m after averaging 5.7 ppm in his first season at the Bridge.

As always, we’ll roll out a series of Player Price List articles over the next few days, breaking them down by classification and cost.

In the meantime, enjoy delving in and getting those opening squads built.

I know he is expensive, but is Van Aanholt worth a punt at 5.5? De Boer loves to attack

Which 6m+ defenders will be worth the money? At the moment I'm only considering Milner, Kolasinac, Valencia and Azpi

From what I've heard about him, Kolasinac could be a bargain.

Arsenal seem tighter at the back in the 3421 formation.

Both Wenger and Ox see him as a midfielder. Also, not sure why people are so sure Arsenal are gonna play 3 at the back this season. Pre season will be a good indicator.

I seem to have missed this news. My bad.

Regardless, you could also Kolasinac isn't nailed. It's definitely possible that Kosc/Mustafi/Holding play central with Monreal at wingback.

First reaction to the new prices is that the price difference between top ROI defenders and what used to be budget options has been narrowed. The price gap between the two might be worth investing this year.

    1. Skyarm

It is unsure at the moment. Darlow played for nearly the entire season but Elliot played the last couple of games. Whether this was because Rafa knew promotion was guaranteed or whether the number 1 goalie changed is unsure.

Promotion wasn't guaranteed when Elliot got back in the team - he's first choice ahead of Darlow.

The question mark really is whether Krul (who is still at the club despite not being in the FPL squad list) or a new signing displaces him. Monitor preseason basically.

    Hi.

    Is this team any good?
A bit worried about 3 spurs players.

    Foster/myhill
    Alder/lindelöf/holgate(naughton/dunk)
    Alli/Pogba/Ramsey/loftus-cheek/Redmond
    Kane/Aguero(Deeney)

    Is Holgate a starter??

I see no Alexis love here and I understand it is because of uncertain future. But lets say he stays at Arsenal. Is he a no go at 12.0? Or will he punish non-owners in a hard way?

Problem is, at 12.0 he needs to deliver massive points regularly for the outlay to be justified. The punishment threshold becomes much more comfortable.

    Value city!

At first glance Tadic @ 6.5 has got to be the pick of the bunch, Rooney @ 7.5 could be a bargain.

Plenty of cheap 5th choice / rotation players at 4.5

    GKs @ 4.5: Foster, Begovic & Hennessey
DFs @ 4.5: Tomkins, Yedlin, Naughton, Ogbonna
    Mids@ 4.5: Loftus-Cheek, Carroll

    So many options xD
