The Technical Area – Liverpool’s Attacking Trio

Few could have predicted the distribution of points from Liverpool’s midfield with any confidence heading into Gameweek 1.

Some of us – unnerved by Philippe Coutinho’s absence through injury and rumours of his possible departure – even abstained altogether, writing off the investment as too much of a risk.

Yet those who gambled were rewarded with points. Goals from all three primary options in the Liverpool attack – Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino – during Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Watford confirmed the potency of the trio.

In this week’s Technical Area, we will be looking into the performance of each of these three players, analysing their goalscoring threat, positioning and chance creation potential. Though much can – and will – change as more data becomes available, here’s our breakdown of who impressed us most in the season’s opening Gameweek.

As an Australian I really really wanna get Mooy! I think Mounie is a better pick though.

Seen most suggesting Ince over Mooy?

What's the reasoning behind this? Haven't seen Hud play yet. Is it just him being in more of an attacking role? I've gone Mooy on set pieces.

Ince 5 touches inside box and 1 shot in the box on target (which should have been buried)

Mooy is on most set pieces including direct free kicks and maybe even pens. He was on most corners and ended up making 7 crosses 3 of which successful leading to 1 assist.

Rafa's toon might sit deep and negate Ince space to run into but this would suit Mooy as he will be pushed further up to pick the lock for Huddersfield which he so often does for the team.

I think both are solid picks with the upcoming fixtures, but atm, I favour Mooy.

What is people thoughts on Carroll / Loftus-Cheek rotation?
Frees up money to be used elsewhere.

What are our predictions for Tottenham vs Chelsea?
We all know about the weekend games and the stark contrast in performance between the two clubs.
Tottenham look at almost full strength and are continuing on from last seasons form. Chelsea looked very depleted before kick off, just looking at their bench made me chuckle.
With Costa getting fat on a jet ski whilst being licked by his chipper looking dog, Bakayoko, Pedro and Hazard injured and Morata not considered fit enough to start they looked thin. Now add the suspended duo of Cahill and Fabregas and they look anorexic.
Away from Stamford Bridge and up against a firing Spurs, could this be pretty bad for them?
Or do you see Conte parking the bus? If so can they still keep out Kane et al?

I wouldn't say Spurs are as good as you are making them out to be. Only really won on Sunday so easily because of the Newcastle red card. I could see anything happening on Sunday. Don't forget Chelsea starting 11 still very strong. If I had to guess I would say 1-1 or 2-2, and that's coming from a Spurs fan.

Draw or Chelsea win. Spurs looked very flat till the red card against Newcastle, couldn't break them down. Fullbacks are so key to their system and they are pretty light there. Early RC for Chelsea just made them lose their heads, that's not the Chelsea that will be against Spurs. In the second half when Morata came on, they looked very good. Even when they had 9 men. Morata was brilliant. I don't think Spurs will beat them.

Fantasy Gold from FFS's very own Prophet extraordinaire.

I am the man who brought you the Mounie.

I have this week introduced you to the Timothy Fosu-Mensah (The best 4.5 in the game and will be a must have player by week 6)

Everyone is talking about me "Who is this newbie?" "Where has he come from?" "Why doesn't have have a silly little avatar like the rest of us?"

Well I will tell you. I am the Messiah of Fantasy Football, and I am about to give you another player who is absolute gold.

    That player is...........Marko Arnautovic

From now until week 12, Marko Arnautovic will become a must have player and you are going to see points returns that see him occupy the top 15 players overall in the game come week 12. This man is going to explode and if you don't get him in this week or next, you will very much be chewing on the carcass of an Ostrich, whilst myself and my followers are working our way through a 9 course meal in a Marrakeshian roof top restaurant.

So follow what I say, do the right thing. Think big, think Marko.

A prophet doesn't need to link his team, his followers must have faith that it exists and trust in the prophets words.

I am here to educate and to help only, now if I happen to develop a large enough following that warrants me setting up an instagram/facebook/twitter page whereby advertisers may see it fit to pay me some paper, or my followers donate money to my being able to quit my job so I can focus full time on my Fantasy predictions.

        So be it.

            You're quite odd.

I have just realised what you've been going on about with "accounts" at first I thought you were just simple. Being new, I'd no idea what you're on about, but I have now realised you are seeing my posts have likes and are offended by it, so are accusing me of faking accounts and liking myself.

Being new, I am still unsure as to how you can see how many likes I have had as I can't myself, but I must be doing well for you to experience your time of the month over it.

So you have in fact graced me with your words and for that I thank you.

Hey Man... classic doler behaviour, to accuse the guy you're giving all the attention to and trying to bring down to your level...of giving you the attention. Classic peasant behaviour. As a life long prophet and leader amongst men, I've seen it often. It's one level up from "I know you are, but what am I"

But hey, as I am basically Jesus in this debate, and you are the sand beneath me. I am going to right now, simply left my leg, remove my sandal as it were and gently shake and pat you (the sand) back out on to the ground, put my sandal back on. And carry on walking.

Than you, That's where I am at the moment- I think Chelsea will Score and expecting more attacking points from BD immediately is probably a tad greedy.

Ok can anyone give me some insight on Son, why did he only play 2000+ mins last season?

Spurs played with three at the back most of the time, so only two offensive midfield spots (Alli and Eriksen)

Xhaka going up has killed my plan of Zaha + Gabbiadini to Xhaka and Fimino :'(

      You don't want Xhaka anyway.

1 GW does not make the player. There are others worthy of consideration at 5.5m

Just look into a mirror and do the old Jedi mind trick: "This is not the Tadic you're looking for."

But those 23 points from a couple of seasons ago still haunt me, too. The goals! The passes! The abs!

Looks like we're going to have to ship Zaha then. I was resigned to keeping him before the latest update.

Zaha injured, how annoying. Scuppered my plans of saving a FT. Probably will do Zaha > Atsu so that I have money available to do Jesus to Kane if needed.
