Free Yahoo FFS Holiday Cup

Fantasy Football Scout have teamed up with partner game Yahoo to set up the inaugural Holiday Cup contest.

Free to enter, this is a single-entry contest and there’s a total of £500 up for grabs in the contest, which takes place over the next four Gameweeks.

Scoring will be cumulative over the four rounds and your one lowest score will be dropped – that means you can afford to have an off-day and still profit.

The top 20 overall will earn winnings, with £50 going to the manager at the summit.

And the top 15 entries per round also receive prizes, with the top scorer from each of the four Gameweek rounds winning £10.

Crucially, it gets underway on Saturday December 23 at 12.45pm, when Everton entertain Chelsea at Goodison Park and finishes on Wednesday January 3, when Arsenal host Chelsea.

This means that, over the span of Gameweek 19-22, there are two Premier League matches excluded from the Yahoo FFS Holiday Cup contest – Arsenal vs Liverpool on Friday December 22 in Gameweek 19 and Spurs vs West Ham on Thursday January 4 in Gameweek 22.

The starting times of each round are as follows:

Round 1 – Saturday December 23 at 12.30pm
Round 2 – Tuesday December 26 at 12.30pm
Round 3 – Saturday December 30 at 3.00pm
Round 4 – Monday January 1 at 12.30pm

Please remember that Fantasy managers must select a new team for each Gameweek before the round gets underway.

To get involved, click here.

We’ve previously published a Strategy Guide on the Yahoo game, though later in the week, we’ll also offer analysis on some of the overlooked players who have fared well in their Opta-driven scoring system to help you further.

For those yet to register, you can open an account and get started immediately.

You must be over 18 years of age, resident in the UK, and of legal capacity to register with Yahoo Daily Sports and open an Account. If you sign up, please always play responsibly.

Nah, don't do it unless you need a captain/desperate for City attack. Both are great options so isn't necessary.

Me too, a 70 minute 3 pointer with Bernardo Silva coming on for the last 20, but you can also see a goal and assist for 13 points, so it's tough... feast or famine sometimes with Raheem.

TBF I can vision a captain blank for any player in the prem in any game. They've all had their fair share so far. Even Salah the only time I captained him, he missed a pen.

He's only blanked in 2 of 11 'easy games' he's played a fair amount of mins in and hasn't been benched since WBA, 8 games back, that's just pessimism

Perhaps but he comes with (some) risk. City looked unbelievable against Spurs but they have had a few wobbles against teams who sit very deep with 9-10 men behind the ball. I know United are no City but Bournemouth frustrated United at Old Trafford. Sterling is a great option but with Pep there is always a risk of slightly limited minutes which is worrying for a (C) option.

the up side far outweighs the downside ... I've had several captain score 1 point (Hazard, Morata, Sane) and loads of 2 or 3's anyway

Which individual performance from a player this season in FPL has been your highlight so far?

Mine has to be that Valencia goal, CS and max baps in GW5 when I was having an awful GW.

Getting Morata in the week he scored a hat trick against Stoke comes close too

Rooney's first half performance against West Ham was the best performance I've seen in 'real life' from an Everton player in a loooong time. In fpl terms, he bagged a hattrick too, so if I pretend I also had him in my time at the time, it ticks all boxes.

Coutinho´s 18 pointer vs Brighton, bought him in prior to that match, so both a instant return and a huge one too. Fabianski 9 pointer when i have lost faith and was about to leave him, which i shouldn´t have done retrospectively seen, and i know 9 pointer but keeper is the my nightmare in fpl since i started, never seems to get them right, tried every tactic form here to eternity but whoever is my goalkeeper they seem to ship in goals. Especially that one shot on target they have all match kind of thing, so now i went de gea so United fans should be worried, as we saw yesterday (about to get cs and bonus but what happens, they conceed).

    De Gea
    Ota Kabasele Ogbona

    Kane or Sterling as C?

Thoughts on Firmino, Carroll and Monreal -> Bony, Sterling and Otamendi for a hit, already got Salah and Coutinho, but no City at all.

For -4 only it could be OK. Haven't watched SWA, so not sure how Bony has looked, but if he has looked good, then could be a nice one. Sterling/Otamendi should outscore Firmino/Monreal long term I think...

Looks good but I wouldn't touch Bony. Swansea are very poor and he's likely to miss minutes over Christmas. I'd look at going cheaper for the striker to have spare funds available for future transfers.

Maybe easier to do Coutinho > Man city cover, Firmino just as good and more choice of mids than strikers at the mo

I'm not a fan, Firmino will score a lot more than Bony. Hopefully Sterling is playing too well to be dropped, but if he's rested you could lose points short term.

Want a cheap defender that cover at least weeks 20-22
Liverpool and HUD seem the best fixtures these weeks.

    Robertson nailed?

    1. Ibracadabra
      • 14 Years
      6 years, 4 months ago

Yes but Milner can do a job there in a busy Xmas rotation period where Klopp will rotate. Good news for Robertson is he stayed stuck on bench most of season behind Moreno so by that logic shouldn't be as fatigued in the Xmas period as he is just coming into peak fitness imo.

    Hennessey / Speroni
    Christensen / Jones / Lowton / Kenny / Mbemba
    Hazard / Salah / Silva / Zaha / Richarlison
    Kane / Firmino / Niasse

    1FT, £1.8m ITB

Planned transfer this week was Zaha or Richarlison > Pogba, but now have the issue of Silva to contend with, and I want Sterling as captain. Still want Pog though. Also thinking that Mbemba > WHU defender could be good, giving me 4 or 5 playing defs for the winter period, especially as Everton & Burnley rotate poorly.

So I've got the exact cash for:
    Mbemba, Silva & Zaha > Ogbonna / Masuaku, Sterling & Pogba (-8)

    Thoughts? Cheers

With a lack of premier forward options I wouldn’t; and an upcoming double looming.

I just think selling him is asking for trouble, I can’t waste a transfer bringing him out then in again

How about the greater likelihood of Ogbonna playing both games in the DGW? I was giving this some thought and wondered if this might be the case. Full back v wing back...

possible, suspect Moyes will go more defensive vs Spurs ... so Masuaku may be rested
If he only gets a CS vs West Brom that's good enough

Which of Ogbonna or Masuako is more likely to stay in the team wrt other injured defenders returning (Fonte and Zabaleta)? Zabaleta seems closer to returning than Fonte - so does that make Ogbonna a better choice longer-term?

Not Morata. Look at his scores since back from injury. You really want to spend all that money doubling him and Hazard?

    Playing SKY game....

Thoughts on Tarkowski receiving a 3 match ban?? If it's more than likely may transfer him out for Kenny and squeeze an extra match in tonight. Trying to preserve transfers however.

3 games is a long time in Sky and there's a lot of value in defence, definitely get rid of him.

Hoping he gets banned tbh, got him in auction league and these next 2 games look tricky before I can get rid. Done amazingly for me though.
As far as sky game goes, you want to get rid for the fixtures anyway so yes, get Kenny.

Have an attack of Kane Morata Hazard Salah Sterling Richarlison...

For now Kane stays, I am more questioning the Chelsea double - yes they still have the nice fixtures, but with Conte rotations I dont feel encouraged. Especially seeing how having even three Liverpool attackers is giving the profits currently. United also springs to my mind because Lukaku has already started banging and with Pogba back the two of them may also be the better alternative soon.

    Your thoughts please?

3 pool is asking for trouble. For every week they score 4 against Bournemouth they'll draw nil nil against West Brom (well I mean they won't but you catch my drift)

I doubled up on Hazard and Morata myself but got rid of Morata when he was declared injured. Was worried he'd come back to bite me on Saturday but he didn't. Chelsea's inconsistency turned me off to doubling up so I'm keeping Hazard for now ...
