The Weekend Team News

Swansea’s Bafetimbi Gomis is set for a spell on the sidelines through injury. Enner Valencia is available for the Hammers. Roberto Martinez is optimistic on Romelu Lukaku’s fitness ahead of the weekend. Brown Ideye has emerged as an injury concern for West Brom. Mario Balotelli is back in contention for Liverpool, while Mikel Arteta remains on the sidelines for the Gunners.

Swansea will be without forward Bafetimbi Gomis for around four weeks with the hamstring injury suffered against Everton. Meanwhile in more positive news, Garry Monk has confirmed that both Nelson Oliveira and Jefferson Montero are back in training to boost the Swans attacking options ahead of the weekend.

Alan Pardew revealed earlier this morning that Palace have the same squad as last weekend and reports no new injuries, which indicate Pape Souare has recovered from the knock that forced him off during the 4-1 win at Sunderland.

Roberto Martinez has revealed that Romelu Lukaku is looking good in training, and is optimistic on the Belgian’s chances of featuring at the weekend, should there be no further problems. Leon Osman is a doubt with the groin injury sustained against Swansea, though Martinez believes that the midfielder could recover in time to play at the weekend.

Enner Valencia is back in contention for West Ham after recovering from the foot problem that forced him off against Stoke last weekend.

Ahead of the FA Cup meeting with Reading, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere is available for selection, though fellow midfielder Mikel Arteta remains on the sidelines through a lack of match fitness. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is two weeks away from a return to action.

Tony Pulis has confirmed that forward Brown Ideye is a doubt to face Crystal Palace after sustaining a knee injury in the week. Elsewhere, winger Callum McManaman is available for selection once more, having turned out for the reserves in midweek.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has again ruled Filip Đjuricic out of the weekend, though will welcome back defender Florin Gardos to the squad after overcoming his injury.

Sean Dyche has received a boost with news that both Ross Wallace and Steven Reid are set to be welcomed back into the squad having recovered from their respective injuries.

Mario Balotelli is in contention to take part at Wembley this weekend, having made a return to full training this week. Adam Lallana though, is expected to miss out once more as he battles with a groin injury.

Hull’s Gaston Ramirez is expected to make a return to training next week, having recovered from a recent hamstring injury. The Uruguayan was ineligible to play against parent club Southampton last weekend.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

      Hard to say but i´m guessing it´ll come from the Everton team. Baines/Coleman or Lennon/Lukaku.

        I remember buying Baines for QPR at home, even though I didn't want him in my team long term, that was a disappointment.

      Depending on what I decide to do tonight, I could be hoping for a Cambiasso haul, he might not be the most attacking or young player, but he is world class.

      1. Ruth_NZ
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 15 days ago

        They call him "Cuchu" (Old Man). 🙂

        He used to be world class (or near to it) though I'm not sure he is any more. But he still has a real touch of class. A good pick for the DGW if you have a midfield slot free I reckon.

        The problem with the DGW is that Costa is out, Sturridge is a lottery in terms of gametime and Remy, while I think he will play (and probably start) both DGW games, has a limited future after that because Costa could be back for GW35 or 36. It's therefore hard to pick any Chelsea or Liverpool strikers and that puts pressure on the midfield slots.

        I will probably be 3-5-2 in GW 34 with a midfield containing Sterling, Henderson/Coutinho, Fabregas and Hazard. That leaves one slot - either Silva if I decide to keep him or Cambiasso if not. I haven't decided yet but I don't really want to lose Silva at home to Villa and with a home game v QPR following in GW36.

          I have to replace Moses, I could do it next week if I sell Sánchez instead, but ultimately I want to keep my team closer to what I would like for the rest of the season. Cambiasso is just a lot more inspiring than Fletcher or Cork. I could stretch up to Mané, Bolasie or Puncheon, but it would put my DGW plans in jeopardy.

          I am slightly concerned about Rémy, as according to Mourinho Costa could be back in training next week and is progressing well. I don't really trust what he says though. 😆

          1. Ruth_NZ
            • 9 Years
            9 years, 15 days ago

            Yep, the Remy/Costa situation is going to run and run.

            It will be made easier for FPL managers if Chelsea win and Remy plays well tomorrow. That would mean the Arsenal game can't hurt them really. Only if Chelsea take less than 2 points from those 2 games is there a potential problem.

            Costa was rushed back last time and I don't believe Chelsea will take the same risk again unless it's really necessary. Hamstring recoveries are notorious for recurrence unless allowed to heal fully as we saw 2 weeks ago.

            Moses to Cambiasso looks a good move. I have a wildcard so my situation is different but I am still considering Cambiasso anyway. The big benefit of a wildcard is the ability to adjust right up to the deadline next Saturday so I may be tinkering for a while yet. 😉

              Well Rémy was a let down, at least I bought in Duff so I would have a player on the bench, and Cambiasso did the business!

      You could bring in Schmeichel to give yourself a DGW keeper for next week and one for this? Sort of cancels out the hit because of potential for extra points next week.

      For the Alexis move, maybe wait to see if we have any news on Remy? If he is going to play the doubles then you will probably want him and if you have already gone for Fab then you'll not be able to do that move.

      You'll be wanting a 5-3 thriller in the early kick-off, then. Couple of Lescott goals, two pen saves for Myhill (from Jedinak), with Bollasie and Punch taking it in turns to slot in the rebounds... 😀

    So who all's got 11 playing for the weekend ?! My rival now closed the gap to 50 points. He has been chipping away at my lead for the last few weeks. Need to beat him by a few points this week & next to heighten the gap once more...!

        Had to dump Naughton in order to field XI. I will be dumping Clyne in couple gw's for a different defender in order to use the money else where. Have 3.1 in the bank with 5 DGW players ready for next week.

    Krul (Panti)
    Ivanovic, Clyne, Dawson (Hutton, van Anholt)
    Hazard, Silva, Sanchez, Eriksen (James)
    Aguero, Kane, Austin

    2 FT but will only take 1 this GW to have 2 FT next gw.

    A)
    GW 33: Hutton->Schlupp
    GW 34: Sanchez->Sterling + Eriksen->Henderson

    B)
    GW 33: Sanchez->Fabregas
    GW 34: Eriksen->Sterling + Hutton->Moreno

    Thoughs?

      Shifty - sorry for late reply. Thought you're already gone.

      Both transfers look good. Silva looks irresistible this week. While getting rid of Naughton for a solid defender looks solid too.

      tough call. Maybe the Mid switch, since i have high hope for Silva this week and i think Sanchez is not worth 11.3 anymore.

      Hope that helps.

        Yea leaning towards Silva too - good record against West Ham. Wildcarding anyway next week, this week is more about getting a strong 11 out.

      hi mate, saw your post, pasting it here for ease haha

      A) Naughton > Baines/Coleman, play 4-3-3
      B) Sanchez > Silva, okay 3-4-3

      DEF + MIDs at the moment are Myhill Clyne Ivano Dawson Eriksen Hazard Mane

      Thats a tough one mate. I think I would go for Silva.

    Since I bought Alexis for 10.4m and I plan to WC next week, would you:

    A) Sinclair & Bellerin -> Schlupp & Bolasie (4 points), or
    B) Sanchez & Haidara -> Baines & Bolasie (4 points)

    Myhill
    Terry, Berty
    Hazard, Silva, Eriksen
    Aguero, Kane, Remy

    Foster, Bellerin, PVA, Haidara, Sanchez, Sinclair
    Bank 0.4m, 1FT, 1WC

    OK, its not DGW already but are all those Liverpool players worth a hit in DGW? (I currently have none)
    I looked at points per game and (form)
    In:
    Henderson 4,6 (5,3)
    Sterling 4,9 (5,0)
    Skrtel 4,1 (didnt play 2 last games so lets say 4,1 same as ppg)
    Out
    Eriksen 4,5 (3,3)
    Phillips 3,4 (6,0)
    Rose 3,4 (3,3)

    Now lets compare players based on ppg estimated points:
    Henderson 9,2 - Eriksen 4,5 = 4,7 OK-worth a -4 hit
    Sterling 9,8 - Phillips 3,4 = 6,4 OK-worth a -4 hit
    Skrtel 8,2 - Rose 3,4 = 4,8 OK-worth a -4 hit
    If I compare based on form than Liverpool players show even better value except Phillips form has been good so questionable, but actually I would bench him anyway that week if I had him.
    But I will probably bench Kane if I get 2 Liverpool mids so I should take his estimated points into the mix. He is playing Southampton away who have very strong defence(OK, I thought Kane wouldnt do anything against Chelsea)
    To get those 3 players I need to take -8 hit and 1ft.
    Result - They are all worth a hit 🙂

    So on weds I did Ramsey + Belerin > Silva + Jags for this GW. Just know Silva will blank and Baines or Colemen will run riot (Because I couldn't afford them).

      Half fancy them for one mañana, tbh. They're not too good for cleanies, but looking at their fixtures they might fancy themselves for some in the run in if they can get things right...
