PlayON Picks – Gameweek 37

Our Friday lunchtime analysis of the PlayON Player Price List arrives once again. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON are now running a number of different deadlines so Fantasy managers can benefit from seeing as many teamsheets as possible. Managers can pick teams for all the 15.00 & 17.30 kick-offs up to 15.00 tomorrow. Their Daily game on Sunday, which includes two matches, has a deadline of 13.30.

There are free entry tournaments and guaranteed pots in all games so plenty for Fantasy managers to take advantage of – you can pick up to three different teams for each game now at www.PlayON.co

Goalkeepers – Boaz Myhill
Clean sheets look likely to be thin on the ground this week, so we’ve gone for backline options that should pick up points from elsewhere in the PlayON Scoring Matrix. Our left-field goalkeeper is West Brom’s Boaz Myhill, who has averaged five saves per match (worth 200 points apiece) over the last seven. The 1%-owned budget keeper, who sets you back just 5.7m, faces a Chelsea side that is likely to be rotated and has racked up clean sheets against Liverpool and United in the last three alone. Costel Pantilimon (7.3m, 9% ownership) is our other pick for much the same reason. Sunderland host a Leicester side that are in strong form but the 2-0 win at Goodison suggests the Black Cats are capable of resilient performances, whilst 12 saves over the last three is indicative of the Romanian’s importance.

Defenders – James Collins
Prior to their 1-0 loss at Aston Villa, West Ham had stepped up their resilience and produced back-to-back clean sheets. James Collins looks crucial in the heart of the Hammers defence – the centre-back has served up scores of 1200+ points in PlayON over his previous three appearances and has made 55 clearances over the last four weeks. With visitors Everton failing to score at home to Sunderland last weekend, Sam Allardyce could set out to contain once again as his side continues to struggle for goals – Collins costs 6.5m and currently resides in 6% of PlayON teams. Southampton’s defensive abilities have appeared to drop off in recent weeks but three straight clean sheets at St Mary’s prior to the draw with Spurs suggests the Saints backline can still be function well at home. At 7.1m,Toby Alderweireld is a cheap route into the set-up and the 8%-owned centre-back is likely to be kept busy with Villa’s Christian Benteke, which should add plenty of interception and tackle points to his score.

Midfielders – Jordi Gomez
Sunderland have been galvanised by the threat of relegation, with three wins and a draw in the last five. Jordi Gomez has racked up some impressive PlayON scores in that run – averaging over 1400 points per game, he’s manage five shots on target, an assist and two converted spot-kicks. Available for 7.3m (11% owned) for the home clash against in-form Leicester, the Spanish midfielder will also be busy picking up defensive points, following a total of 20 tackles (worth 50 points apiece) in five appearances. With over 35% ownership, Steven Gerrard (11.6m) is our essential pick ahead of the home tie with Crystal Palace – an encounter that has seen 14 goals in the last three league meetings between these sides. Gerrard has scored in each of the last two and will be bidding farewell to Anfield, meaning he is likely to be provided with plenty of opportunities for a final goal in front of the Kop.

Forwards – Ayoze Perez
Our left-field pick is surprisingly from struggling Newcastle. The Spaniard (7.7m) secured the Magpies’ first point in nine matches with an equaliser against West Brom last weekend taking his tally to two goals in the last three Gameweeks. John Carver’s side visit Loftus Road to play a relegated QPR side that have just shipped six goals at the Etihad and with an ownership of 5%, Perez could be a decent differential as the visitors look to secure their safety. Sergio Aguero has been in blistering form of late. The City forward served up a hat-trick and two assists against QPR last weekend to take his tally to eight strikes in the last five matches. At a price of 15.0m, there’s no surprise to see he’s the most expensive option in PlayON this week – nonetheless, over 45% of managers have already brought him on board ahead of Sunday’s trip to Swansea.

Head over to www.PlayON.co to get your teams in for the free entry and guaranteed pot games.

I'll be damned if Arsenal score a goal and I don't get an assist out of it. (Cue Giroud brace assisted by Ramsey.)

Kind of wish I had Ramsey instead of Ozil but I like the Ozil assist potential.

Certainly if Ozil delivers and Ramsey is rested/doesn't return then you'll reap the rewards.

I'm currently weighing up whether to go Ozil/Ramsey and Cazorla/Giroud for my Arsenal 3. Already have Sanchez.

          My rival has Ramsey/Giroud/Ospina

After a well contested poll, the Bargain Basement Cult Team GKs have been selected as Pantillimon (11 votes) and Schmeichel (7 votes). Other popular GKS were
    Myhill and Heaton.

Our next category is my personal favourite and the epitome of a Cult Team. You can select 4 defenders to make up the 5 vacancies and the only criteria is that they must have been priced 4.5m or under at the start of the season. Here is a list of some players but feel free to add your own, so long as they fulfil the criteria.

    Chambers (remember him)
    Bellerin
    Hutton
    Vlaar
    Duff
    Chester
    McShane
    Bruce
    Morgan
    Wasi

    Yun
    Yoshida

Bellerin - haven't owned him but gets my vote - hung onto the RB berth against the odds.
Morgan - so cheap, so many points.
Dawson - many a time he's surprised me with a clean sheet.
Cameron - don;t laugh. But since I've got him in on my wildcard he's ended up playing most games and getting me clean sheets (sadly too frequently staying on the bench) a real surprise hero.

He's got ppg/price value over 1 since he begun to get starts. Only one who has done that and actually played consistently - apart from Kane, if you got him for the low price, as most, I think, did, but he's in a different category. It was always a risk, whether he will continue to play. But he did, and kept on getting those points.

Bellerin - good value, held on to the spot for a good while!
CDawson - been great since Pulis took over although I've been guilty of benching him a few times (like Myhill)
Naylor - huge success in the first half of the season
Morgan - picking Huth over him a month ago has proved to be a poor decision!

Difficult because so few have been regulars throughout the season.

One thing I would insist on is the removal of Wollscheid from the list. I brought him in on winter wildcard and all he did was lose his place in the team and then grind down my TV until I was able to get rid of him with my GW34 wildcard.

Wisdom played quite a few games for me in the first half of the season, he was good enough until Pulis arrived. Bellerin has also been good since coming into the Arsenal team. PvA has been pretty useful at 4.2/4.1 and Morgan has come on strong late in the season. I'd vote for those.

      Bellerin
      Wisdom
      Morgan

      Cult defenders:

As a couple of others have said, Kolarov should be there, despite his price...

If that really isn't on, then in no particular order:

      Bellerin
      Hutton

Hutton, Wisdom, Neil Taylor and Wasilewski.

Any of the Leicester options could have gotten the nod, so I went for the cheapest. Hutton is in for his attacking returns, Wisdom and Taylor because I had them both for all the right times.

Schlupp - 'cult' because he got massive hype all season as an OOP defender. He was by far the most popular pick in the Leicester defence and DGW gave ppl the perfect reason to get him and he turned out useless in the end! If he only took freekicks as well he'd be on a similar level as Kolarov.

PVA - Massive attacking stats, playing further forward than strikers sometimes, and delivered on them!

Duff - £4.0m and written off as too old, he (and Burnley) defied all logic with great defensive returns, a goal and frustration for non owners.

Hutton - Again £4.0m and he practically came back from the grave this season and got great returns and even a goal for lucky owners that week.

PvA (a lot of attacking threat, as cheap as it gets)
Hutton (been nailed on all year, has come back from the coffin really career wise, and has scored :D)
Bellerin - Very attacking and has held his place well. Unfortunately I've benched him for a few of his clean sheets but still great value nonetheless.
Chambers - 18 points vs. Burnley. So jammy but such a good haul.

Thinking Haz, Sterling->Silva, Gomez. Or is it better to do Coutinho, Sterling->Silva, Gomez? My ML rival who I trail by 15 points has sold Haz for Sanchez this GW and he won't be able to get him back in GW38.

Really struggling with my transfer this week.

      A. Bertrand to Bellerin/Monreal
      B. Silva to Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla
      C. Hazard to Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla

Leading my ML but my nearest rival has Ramsey but not Silva

      Hi again gents,

      Looking at this: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/05/15/gameweek-37-best-punts/

Walters ----> Gomez for a hit.

Even remotely worth it? Chasing the leader with a total of 4 points difference.

(Been leading the whole season, only losing out my top spot last week to a ridiculous 3-man Lei defense, including Kasper, crazy.)

Rivals have a mix of Sanchez, Koscielny, Giroud and Ramsey. I have Sanchez and Ozil, who should be my 3rd pick?

      A) Cazorla
      B) Ramsey?

      1) Pants
      2) Mignolet

Thank you, currently on this decision. Only trouble is that Pants projected outcome over both games could be 3 points vs leicester (1 save point, assuming goals conceded is just 1), and then 2 points vs arsenal (if arsenal score more than 1 goal).

I guess Mignolet can only really get a max of 6-7 points whereas pantilimon has the chance for 1 clean sheet + countless saves

Reposting here as just realised I've posted it last time on the cricket forum chat that is going on on this site.
So I Have ML sewn up 0.4 ITB and 2 FT. Want to get highest OR I can (currently 3557) so wandering what team to field whilst most likely bringing in Sanchez and Gomis for hazard and Stirling. Right moves? Would you suggest bringing in another Sunderland player as well?
      Schmeical (myhill)
      Terry Skirtal kolorov (Schlupp, PVA)
      Ozil hazrad Stirling coutinho. (Quinn)
