Spot the Differential – Gameweek 37

Our search for a trio of overlooked alternatives arrives, as always, this Saturday morning. We place our faith in Newcastle and Burnley’s frontmen, whilst Arsenal’s forgotten midfielder could yet have a part to play in the upcoming double Gameweek.

Ayoze Perez

Perez has been one of the only bright sparks for Newcastle during their nine-match winless streak. The Spanish youngster boasts three goals in two starts for the Magpies, while only five forwards in the league fashioned more shots on target (five) than the Toon marksman in their previous four matches.

Papiss Cisse’s return to action provides further incentive to invest in the 4.3-priced Perez. Having served out his lengthy suspension, the Senegalese frontman earned minutes off the bench against West Brom and is pushing to start at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. With opposing defences now having to contend with the pace and power of Cisse, Perez – who could either line up on the right flank or alongside Cisse in a two-man attack – should be afforded more space to exploit.

Sitting just two points off 18th-placed Hull City, the Tynesiders will be desperate to secure all three points at Loftus Road, playing into the hands of their attacking contingent. Furthermore, an agreeable match-up against West Ham United (one goal in last four) on the final day renders Perez a solid option in Gameweek 38.

Danny Ings

Danny Ings (5.5) netted for the first time in 11 starts during Burnley’s 1-0 win over Hull City last Gameweek. Notwithstanding his barren spell, the Clarets’ leading man has been engineering an impressive number of attempts (16) in the last six Gameweeks, with only six other forwards surpassing that tally. With a number of suitors eyeing up a summer bid, Ings’ goal at the KC Stadium could be the catalyst to inspire further Fantasy returns.

Strengthening Ings’ case for inclusion, Burnley play host to Stoke City this weekend. The Potters lost three and drew one of their previous four road matches, while Sean Dyche’s side will be confident of getting a result in their final Premier League match at Turf Moor, having taken points off Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in recent home matches. Moreover, the Lancashire club close out their campaign with a trip to Aston Villa – who’ve recorded just one home clean sheet in eight attempts.

Jack Wilshere

With Aaron Ramsey remaining doubtful, and rotation a possibility ahead of the FA Cup final, the fit-again Wilshere (6.3) could come into contention for Arsenal’s double Gameweek against United and Sunderland.

The England international has been handed cameos in the Gunners’ previous two league ties, as he steps up his rehabilitation ahead of a full return. In just 28 minutes against Swansea on Monday evening, Wilshere created five scoring opportunities – joint-top for Arsene Wenger’s side – to suggest that, even if his pitch time is limited, he could still prosper.

It’s unlikely he’ll earn a start at Old Trafford this Sunday but, depending on results over the weekend, the midweek visit of Sunderland could play into the Gunners’ hands. If Dick Advocaat’s side can secure their survival on Saturday, they’ll have a little less motivation come Wednesday evening, and with third spot still on the line, Arsenal will be determined to grab a much-needed win as they look to recover from Monday’s shock loss against Swansea.

Well I spose it doesn't make much difference what we think now 😛

I personally don't think I would have, but you're maximising your chances to do well by bringing in a player with 2 games, so it's 50/50.

Maybe for Ospina if you don't have 3 Arsenal, but I couldn't justify spending a transfer on a GK for the last 2 weeks.
If Myhill comes in, you get to take your chances with save points.
      good luck.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Already got three Arsenal. And yeah, I don't really want to take a hit. Although I'm 123 points ahead in my minileague so I suppose I can afford to if need be.

        1. da Beeeez
          • 14 Years
          9 years, 13 days ago

But still, what are the odds you come out ahead? It sounds like a decent chance you get at least one game from Courtois, but even if you don't, you get at 2-3 points from Myhill from the two games in worst case. Even if you pick a GK who gets a clean sheet (which isn't guaranteed), you maybe get to 8 or 9 for the two game weeks, which is only 4-5 with the hit. Just doesn't seem like it's worth it even in success.

Good stats over the last couple of months though. On penalties and some corners so I like his chances of getting some returns. I also expect Ramsey to miss 1 of the final 3 games so that had an impact on my decision too.

It's more of the fact that Ramsey's injury prone and hasn't been training much recently. Wilshere is a good replacement for him and Wenger will want him fit for the FA Cup Final so I think Ramsey will miss one of the SUN or WBA games.

Sorry, misread, thought you meant a hit for another player. Decent team, who you taking a hit for?

Would you rather have Vardy or Wickham next week?

        Vardinho.

Proper stuck this week. I'm not even bothered about getting any Sunderland in.

I'm thinking Vardy to Kane and downgrade Fabregas... but for who?

You need someone from a team that will be hungry next week. I'm not convinced by Kane - and I have him.

      Yes, with Wickham.

Any midfielder with a value up to 5.7 worth a -4 hit?

Or, is Hazard worth a -4 hit for anyone?

he is if he doesn't start. as for the cheap mid. Larsson or Adam for me

No hits. Especially not for Hazard. Those who are dumping him are likely to get badly burned.

Cheers, my midfield is a bit ropey: Sanchez, Hazard, Sterling, Elmo (Walters)

So I have this decision to make because my rival is right on my tail!

    C!!!

    Giroud or Caz

I know you will say Caz, but he is not doing much of anything lately.

    I don't own Sanchez. Kun??

Am really torn here. The is THE week for top spot here!

I;m leaning toward Giroud, but ...?

ugh. logic says take the forward. especially when Arsenal mid such minefield.

But seams like Giroud always let's me down when I captain him..

      Giroud.

Sanchez has a sizable lead in the captains poll, but I was leaning toward Giroud. I have safe leads in my MLs so no need for a risky play. Is Sanchez the safe pick?

have Sanchez so could go with him as C

If your safe, then play safe and go with Sanchez because your rivals will most likely captain Sanchez.

One for DZ. Which one you prefer?

    A) Hazard -> Cazorla for free

    B) Hendo & Skrtel -> Cazorla & Morgan for a hit

Latter option would allow me to keep Hazard.

I really need help with this. I already used my free transfer for Gomez, but now he's injured! Anything worth a hit? Got 2.5 in bank.

    Panti Howard

    Bellerín Skrtel Bertrand Ivan PvA

    Sanchez Haz Silva (Gómez) Ramsey

    Murray Vardy Kane

Would sound good, but the trouble is I've got 3 sunderland players already with Gomez (+Panti and PvA)

Dont think it's worth taking a hit for anyone, Mahrez or N'Doye if you had a freebie though.

Your dilemma with no hit is who to bench!

This game gets us all into some right pickles! Tough decisions!
