We delve into the Gameweek 3 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Up front, we assess Bournemouth, Chelsea and Liverpool’s lone forwards, whilst there’s plenty to analyse in the centre of the park, as we take a look at some standout statistics from Villa, Palace, United, West Ham and Norwich.
Got to be Aguero. I think Kolarov is a better option than Silva.
Kun
flip a coin..
LVG to play Fellaini up front.
Prospects?I believe its quite high. If not this week but soon
Good but wait.
Got to be better than Rooney
Good for FPL managers since the price is affordable and a plus for the midfield position.
Am sure he'll wrap up some goals.
Bottomed -
Highly likely that Silva can outscore Ozil by 4 points over the next 4 GWs?
ARS: new STO che lei
MCI: WAT, cpl, WHU, totI think he will over the next few weeks, but I'm currently pondering whether to bring him in for a hit or wait a week.
same.
To me, the primary benefit of bringing him in for a hit is that you just free up one FT in a way next week instead of being forced to use the FT on Silva. It's a long 2 weeks where anything can happen.
Not to mention Silva has a great opportunity to outscore Ozil this weekend.Exactly, he could easily outscore him by 4 this weekend, but Ozil could do well against Newcastle. I'm thinking that long-term it will pay off.
can't have everyone.
I made it simpler for myself:
I'd feel wayyyyy more ticked off if I kept Ozil and just got an assist, while Silva and City steamroll Watford.
It's just such an obvious trade but perhaps my usual 'no hit' policy is clouding my vision a little. Either way, I've had a bad start and feel I need to take a teeny weeny risk this week.Good point, think you've just made up my mind. I'm going to jinx this now, but watching Ozil recently, it looks like an assist is the best that will happen. His creativity is very high, but it always is and doesn't tend to result in huge points. He's not looking like he's on the verge of a haul, so the risk seems relatively low.
Silva, however, has the potential to rack up a big score.Yes, Silva can hurt you. I'm not convinced Ozil can. A couple of assists, tops.
I was watching the Everton game and was afraid of the Silva threat - he was making key passes, making runs in the box, linking up with Aguero so well.
Ozil was constantly floating around the box against Liverpool and made some very nice pretty passes, but zero goal threat.
Like Lucy said, the Silva today can explode. Ozil is the Silva of 2-3 seasons ago - assist at most, assist the assister the norm.
I'd say so.
thanks. a hit for 1 week's match seems silly...but when looked over the longer term, seems to make sense.
Can use next week's FT to sort Pelle or Cedric out!!
I'm going to say yes. City just seem far more clinical atm, collectively and individually.
Anyone tempted by Gradel?
Not really looked yet.
But will nowStill monitoring. He might just outscore Richie anyway.
Which 2 to bench out of these?
A) Payet (liv)
B) Redmond (sou)
C) Gomiz (MUN)
D) Darmian (swa)
E) Francis (LEI)
Cheers guysFirst two
Payet and Francis
Where the hell did that Dodoo chap from Leicester appear from? Never heard of him before yesterday's hat trick.
He's been extinct.
Ah bugger.
I know, he seemed dead as a Dodoo.
BebéDoDoo, YayaZaZa ...
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=the+police+-+songs&t=osx&ia=videos&iai=7v2GDbEmjGE🙂
Defoe or Diouf more likely to score this weekend?
Defo Defoe
Diouf
Quick poll:
Have you used your FT yet?
If not, do you intend on using it before the weekend?Used it, and may take a hit (as you know).
(Doooooo ittttttttttt)
As you're 5 points behind me in the H2H, this could be mind games 😉
I've WC'ed
Used on Ivan to Kolarov
-8 here for 2nd week running 😀
Used it for Mane -> Ayew. Probably also taking a hit for Koscielny -> Kolarov
Not used - may save for a double after the internationals.
Had 2. Rooney & Eriksen to Lukaku & Sanchez. Was more of a rage transfer on Saturday.
Nope.
Yes + a hit very likely.Of course. 🙂
No I've used 13 😎
saving for 2 next week barring an injury to Depay tonight
Sanchez, Wilson & Butland or Ozil, Cech & Gomis?
Simple question: is Ozil to Silva worth a hit?
Yes.
yep
No, not imo.
Nope
I think so
replied above
As did I 😉
Not when Arsenal are playing Newcastle anything could happen
Like a Thauvin hat trick? 😉
That would be beautiful
I'd prefer Wijnaldum hatrick though as he's in my team
Just looked it up, Arsenal have only scored 4 times in the last 4 games at St James'.
It's a sign.
I'm starting to worry that this is some kind of sabotage...
I'm not that smart. I haven't got the PhD yet. 😉
Really?! I'm surprised by that. Surely the 4-4 draw was within the last 4 seasons and they've definitely scored against us since then.
That was 2010/11, last 4 games have been:
2011/12 - 0-0
12/13 - 0-1
13/14 - 0-1
14/15 - 1-2
Good sign as a Mertesacker owner though! Its the Fibenachi sequence! 3 goals incoming!
Isn't one of the games when Gervinho grazed Joey Barton with his fingernail and Barton went down like he was punched by Mike Tyson
Cheers all, 50/50 then! Long term I'm almost certain Silva will outscore Ozil by a reasonable margin, but selling for a hit ahead of playing Newcastle is risky.
Yeah, I'd hold for a week if you can.
A hit for a long term can be a bargain. I say you go for it!
Apologies in advance for asking probably the most asked q on here!
Sahko > ?
A - Wilson
B - Diouf.
Thanks.A
Keep
He's dead to me I'm afraid.
A
Is Sakho out?
Possibly injured / Posdibly jailed either way he's being politely shown the door from my team.
B
Dam, just when I was gonna hit the button!
You've asked this before and got much more mixed responses, haven't you? 😀 If not, other people have.
Yea it's a toughie for sure, I'll have to call it myself Lucy-I can see a split response in general,
Thanks.Diouf is also a great choice. I'd be taking a hit for Costa this week if I didn't have Aguero, Diouf and Wilson, none of which I want to lose. 😕
Cheers Ruth,
Would you use the 1m to shift Depay > Pedro or bank it and just get Coutinho?I'm keeping Depay. I expect to keep him for a long time.
You've the patience of a saint!
Nah, United will fire in due course and when they do he will score a fair few of their goals. That looks pretty obvious to me and that's why I'm holding.
I'd be quite surprised if those selling Depay now don't buy him back within the next 6-8 weeks.
Thanks all for the responses.
Latest WC draft - is this too light on defence?
Butland, Ruddy
Kolarov, Gomez, Francis, Targett, Taylor
Sanchez, Silva, Pedro, Mahrez, Westwood
Aguero, Benteke, WilsonYes. Benteke to Gomis?
I'm tempted by that but want to have Liverpool attacking coverage. Might get rid of Pedro for someone cheaper and use some more cash at the back
Yes too light
I have similar except Diouf not Benteke and defense gets stronger, you have 2x4.0, risky
Yeah I agree, will have another play around
Targett for 1, max 2 games ?
Silva to Yaya upgrade defence
C. Keep
Fail
Arsenal fans. What are your thgouhts on Ramsey. I have been watching the games and at this point the 2,5 price difference between him and sanchez did not look obvious at all.
My only concern. Is Aaron rotation proof? what will happen when wilshere will be back?Sanchez still not up to speed, looked fairly dangerous on Monday though.
Wilshere will never be back at current rate.
Wilshere/Sturridge = never fit
g2g? 0.1m ITB
Butland
Kolarov - Darmian - Gomez
Sanchez - Pedro - SIlva - Mahrez
Aguero - Gomis - Diouf
Subs : - McCarthy // Richards // Targett // WestwoodYes.
Aguero-->Costa
Absolutely not.
Lord no.
Don't undersatnd how you've done this? I tried making this team and I'm 1 million short
Mahrez from the beginning?
Pretty sure the starting price of those was only 99.5
I'm a wheeler dealer lol
had gomez early on and used cash for kompany to kola and also had gomis early and mahrez early etcJust get Yaya instead of Silva and u will afford it as well.
Yes, I have 12 same players
If Payet fails to perform this weekend, is it time to get rid? Haven't seen his games.
No, playinvg quite well actually
He may well fail, not sure if they have any recognised strikers available do they?
Zarate injured
Sakho - heads gone. #kill
Maigia - sold?Dunno, he's away to Liverpool. Maybe keep him till after the plum home tie vs Newcastle
Thanks all.
Defoe or Diouf more likely to score this weekend?
DIouf
A) Hazard, Diouf
OR
B) Pedro, BentekeB
Pedro and Diouf
- Backing The Home Team
Okay, so I have uncovered the reason for my poor start.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm very much a 'fixtures' man - More precisely, a 'homer'
When there is a tough decision to be made on who to start in my squad, I usually opt for the player playing at home.
Also, when making transfers, I usually look to the players who have a decent run of home fixtures coming up (finding those teams with pockets of 3 home games in 4 is my particular favourite)
Anyway, so far, out of the 30 Premier League games this season, only 6 have resulted in home wins.
That equates to 20%.
I did some brief research on how this compared to previous seasons, and also to see whether there was any great fluctuation between % of home wins between seasons.
So, the previous 5 seasons:
2010/11 - 47.1%
2011/12 - 45.0%
2012/13 - 43.7%
2013/14 - 47.1%
2014/15 - 45.3%
As you can see, the percentage of home games won is pretty consistent between seasons, with an average of 45.6%
I am confident that my "always back the home team" policy will come good eventually...Good research that. 6 wins in 30 games does seem extremely low
That stat has been plastered everywhere. It is a surprising stat though
Good point.
But as someone who started Jenkinson on two GWs, I beg to differ 🙁it should come good. The number of fixtures played is not really a big enough sample size to be significant. It could just be that the fixture list has brought up a big amount 'away win' bankers so far this season
I'm sure that's contributing to many people's struggles, particularly in defence where you tend to back the mid-table teams when they're at home.
The results have been extremely unpredictable with only a couple of the big teams kicking off. Auto-complete teams rule the roost. Can't keep happening though!
I agree but this reminds me of 2 seasons ago when the 'pros' just couldn't catch up with the 'casuals'
it does, doesn't it? Scary stuff. Trying to go more obvious with my picks for now until I see some semblance of normalcy.
Silva, Wilson in this week. Going with the flow.Silva - check
Wilson just transferred out looks like I'm re transferring in!
Yep - less than 8% of this season has been completed - there is still over 92% of the season to go! Just be patient everybody!
nice stats to back up my base assumption. good to know the start to this season is an anomaly.
2014/15 Teams scored 45.48% of their total FPL points away from home. Highest was Crystal Palace (51.72%), lowest was Southampton (39.67%)
By player type (looking at last 38 game weeks - excluding newly promoted teams)
Goalkeeper - Overall 48.52% - Highest WBA (63%), Lowest Southampton (40.88%)
Defender - Overall 44.04% - Highest WBA (53.81%), Lowest Spurs (40.04%)
Midfielder - Overall 47.57% - Highest Crystal Palace (54%), Lowest Newcastle (40.10%)
Forwards - Overall 46.54% - Highest Arsenal (59.70%), Lowest Southampton (33.20%)
So, defenders at home gives the biggest points advantage. And some teams are more immune than others to Home / Away point differences with some cases of teams scoring more points away than at home.
Bench advice please -
Butland
Gomez / Kolarov / Shaw
Sanchez / Silva / Mahrez / Payet
Aguero / Gomis / Diouf
Myhill - Richards / Westwood / Whittaker
Currently playing Payet & Shaw but would you bring in Richards or Westwood for either?
Cheers in advanceRichards for Shaw
anyone seen anything on Betrand fitness? wondering how long I can play Targett for....
Back after internationals...so at least this week and possibly GW 5 (if Berti is short of fitness)
thx, v helpful....
Sanchez, Wilson & Butland or Ozil, Cech & Gomis??
Sanchez, Wilson and Butland.
Yes
?
After a mess last week (28-4) I've done Cedric, Mane and Deeney >> Kolarov, Shaqiri and Wilson. for -8 instead of WC, good transfer?
No because -8, not going to get that back next week.
What's the rest of your team?
I have Gradel who's 5.3 in Sky but I don't have Mahrez who's 6.0 and killing me. Should I just make the switch? Its annoying as Gradel just got 2 assists and looked up to speed last game, he also has great fixtures but Mahrez.....
No two assists is good, as long as your getting the points
Mahrez's form isn't sustainable. Bournmouth's fixtures look mint. Keep Gradel I reckon.
Luckily I got Mahrez as a squad filler day 1 so he's boosted my rank and frankly my canning addition of Martin has helped my rank no end either!
(C) on Sanchez right now, would you switch to Aguero?
Coutinho or Pedro for the next 3-4 gameweeks?
Coutinho, Pedro unproven
Cout
Was just gonna ask this!
Mad Max Gradel
Speak to me.Chadli and Shaq seemingly better options for now. Check hot topics. Parm did some good research on him.
Could be a good 1M saver though. You are Alive!
Is it me or are decisions this season much tougher to make?
It's just you
Jeez, did I not push you hard enough yesterday?
You need a kick in the nuts?Memphis is quality. Tekkers hasn't been in form. Shaq or Chadli?
The latter.
Last season was simple.
I started a team with Ramsey, Mata, Roo Jovetic Costa and they all deliver early points. Sterling and Silva also were great picks early on. My first two transfers were Caulker & Young -> Chester & Siggy for a hit, but still managed to get OR 160k by GW2. This season? No so much.I think they've been pretty easy so far given that bandwagons have continued to perform and, even with WCs, the template performed well last week.
It's because there are so many more decent options this season compared to last
A) Kosc to Kolarov for -4
or
B) Play PVA or Huth and bench KoscB)
Thanks. You not think Kolarov will make up those 4 points over PVA or Huth?
A
Huth
Huth & Mane > Kolarov & Mahrez for -4 worth it?
I would have done only Mane > Mahrez but I have 3 Leicester players. No you won't get that -4 back next week
What's the rest of your team like? On the face of it that's a massive improvement especially with the upcoming fixtures for Kol
Makes sense to me.
Yes
Was planning on potentially swapping Pele for Diouf during international break but now worried Pele is going to drop this week with Diouf rising. Should I hold out and hope there is no movement or swap now to cash in on potential value rise? Do people think they will drop/rise this week?
Assume you mean Pelle (as much as I would love to have Pele in my team), is a potential drop in value going to really hurt you? Also is it for a hit?
Haha yes did mean Pelle, unfortunately don't have Pele. Probably not but cashing in on a rise could help down the line. Would be using my FT
Diouf may have a rise but I don't think Pelle will fall just yet.
I have both by the way and I'm looking forward to keep Pelle this week also, due to favorable fixture.
But will consider monitoring him for the Europa match tomorrow before deciding either to swap him. That does seem like a good way to view the situation, might hang on until after tomorrow and see where I stand then. Cheers for the help

Aguero or Silva (C)?
