The ScoutCast – Episode 199 – Buttons

Jonty knows just what buttons to press.

When he slyly accuses me of adopting the template midfield, I’m visibly rattled. Leaping to defend myself, Jonty claims victory in this bout of Fantasy manager mind games and may have forced me into a hasty transfer I will come to regret.

Andy and Luke watch on, but it’s not long before they earn our attention, having pressed significant buttons of their own – both are post-Wildcard.

We analyse their Gameweeks, move to recite tales from the community and then take on another round of your questions, which finds us looking into yet another player relationship theory that will have Roberto Firmino owners rather concerned.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

You can grab the old fashioned mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or watch me get riled via the Google Hangout version in the second player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    New article Repost

    Foster
    Valencia Baines
    Sanchez Sterling Lallana Antonio Capoue
    Aguero(C) Lukaku Rashford

    Pickford Collins Amat Pieters

Played AOA as my defence is a shambles and I have no FTs. Not expecting Baines to play, Collins likely to be left out too so looking like Amat or Pieters will have to play.

    Is Amat the right choice?
And is their anything else you would change?

By the way, due to the mention of the Firmino/Coutinho theory on Tuesday's show, the theory is also in the FPL show published tomorrow (which also went live tonight). A guy who works on the show, who is a great guy and may even be appearing on the cast soon as he's a big fan - tipped off the producer and on Wednesday I got the WhatsApp message saying it was in - stats and all.

So, before I get flamed for "revealing all the masses" - I'm putting this out there now.

Having said that, there;s an excellent new community article going live tomorrow that goes into it in far more detail so watch for that.

Some are saying get none of them - for fear of the points spread. I guess the theory there is that they aren't going to score 4 or 5 every week.

Nailing the right double and triple ups can be an absolutely massive differential. I had KDB and Aguero c last week, now I'm on Walcott Sanchez and Firmino Coutinho. Hoping for some gold.

A lot of people have suggested Burnley could provide a stiff defensive test actually. Personally I think they will buckle with Arsenal camped out in their defensive third, and it really just depends how long it takes for the first one to go in.

Their success has been against weak opposition, and they just aren't used to resisting players of the Arsenal calibre.

Should I start Walker (MCI), Redmond (lei), or Capoue (BOU)?

I don't expect anyone to keep a clean against City, but at least Walker offers attacking potential. Redmond seems so involved in everything but the end product, it's frustrating. Not to mention Leicester has been sort of a mixed bag defensively. Meanwhile, Capoue is Capoue.

    3. Owusu90
      • 11 Years

Surely play Walker unless you have some kind of super defence.

I'd probably play Redmond over Capoue. Got used to him scoring from the bench so Redmond missed points would hurt more. Flawed logic I know!

      1. Birdman Transfer
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

The defenders I'll be starting over Walker are Valencia, Williams and Holebas. Given the fixtures Walker on the bench feels like the obvious choice if I'm going with a 3-4-3.

I've had both Redmond and Capoue in my team all year, and have missed literally every single Capoue point, so your flawed logic actually resonates perfectly with me. Getting a two pointer from Capoue while leaving a bunch of Redmond points on the bench after six weeks of this would probably drive me insane.

          Hear hear!

That is a decent backline. I fancy Palace to score on current form so would bench Williams in the hope of some Walker attacking returns. Not much in it though.

Yeah, considering it, but Slaven will kill the defense if they do not improve

Don't have ibra or Sanchez. Both are going to have high effective ownership in top 10k yes?

I'm tempted so I can play redmond over stones. Not sure who the biggest air thief is between them though. Stones has to be one of worse players I've had in 10 years of playing

Aren't Liverpool poor at defending set-pieces into the box? Surely Amat is worth a punt then?
