The ScoutCast – Episode 218 – Three Kings

A trio of Josh Kings saved the Gameweek for the ScoutCast regulars, steering Jonty, Andy and myself to respectability, despite a scattering of ill-fated transfer hits. Meanwhile, AZ drops in with his own unique solution to the curtailed Gameweek 28, as he deals a controversial early Wildcard to help prepare for the choppy waters.

The Wildcard is a key focus of this week’s episode, as we extend our recent Hot Topic to the ScoutCast airwaves, arguing the optimum time to activate the most precious of chips.

Elsewhere, we spare a moment to weigh up the “essential” status of the aforementioned Cherries midfielder, consider the recent unrest surrounding Sanchez and Lukaku and discuss the fall-out from Kane’s twanged ankle.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

West Brom look like they may blank in GW34 if their match is rearranged for GW37 (opinion is split around whether this will happen or not), is likely none of the others will blank. This is guesswork only though, so don't take this as gospel and await official news 🙂

Any glaring mistakes or changes you guys would make, trying to keep include as many dgw players as i can.

I was thinking Son over Alli but i prefer the guarantee minutes of Alli over Son.
Man city have been looking alot better at the back since Willy has been in goal. City's next 3 fixtures are poor but after that they have a great run until the end of the season, plus a dgw somewhere i feel he is a better long term pick the jaku

Need a small advice. I'm looking at a cheap below 5 defender to replace Brunt. Other defenders are Valencia, Olsson, Mori, Pieters.

Looking at minimum 5 gameweeks ahead, which is a better bet?

    A) Holebas - Plumb home fictures plus attacking threat
    B) Ben Davies - Mixed fixtures from CS point of view with easiest games are towards the end of that 5 week period and Rose will be back by then?

    When is Rose expected anyway?

    TIA!

There seems to be a lot of interest in a defensive transfer this week so I thought I'd make a HT to put all your thoughts in one place.
So who is the best defender to bring in right now and why? Walker, Valencia or is there someone under the radar who we haven't perhaps considered?

Valencia. United's defensive stats are good, and they have two DGWs coming up.

Valencia looks a good option imo between the two. Walker ownership means there is no point gettim him if you are chasing.
I also think Toby A. And L.Koscielny will come out good

Has to be Valencia - he has both the short term fixtures and the likely DGW in 34. The transfer suits GW36 WCers and earlier WCers (who haven't played it yet), so it works for those who haven't made their mind up either way as well.

Other than usual suspects like Walker/Valencia, I'd look at Rojo. Seems to be getting in goalscoring position.

Another defender I'm considering is Cedric Soares from next week if cash permits.

Kone(5SiB) as an outside punt. He has taken same number of shots inside the box as Defoe(5SiB, 2SoB) in last 4 weeks 😆

wasn't it around this time last season that arsenal went on their usual end of season run & kept alot of cleanies in the process? valencia is the choice that makes the most logical sense but don't be surprised if we started seeing returns from kosc & bellerin

      Please help.

Wildcard active - I need help to try and get a better defender and GK combo than jaku and pieters.

      Squad is as follows:

      Pickford/jaku
      Valencia/walker/alonso/pieters/stones
      Alli/alexis/son/king/siggy
      Lukaku/gabbiadini/costa

Stones is arguably one I could change but given his DGW and city's clean sheet record of late I'm tempted to keep.

The liverpool game will have plenty of goals and sterling and sane will be amongst it. Longer term I would only keep one of those (tough call who to keep though. Sane if you're chasing I reckon) and swap for Siggy who is currently Mr Reliable.

Mirallas or Lanzini. If Mirallas keeps his place he could produce a haul.

There are so many enticing diffs this week i don't know where to start but i will give it a go 🙂
      Ozil/Iwobi/Giroud
      Zaha
      Mahrez/Vardy
      Tadic
      Son

But i will have to pick my very own Kevin Mirallas who just became a daddy again to baby Julia the last time i remember a attacking player becoming a father this season was Harry Kane who duly served up a hatrick i hope the new arrival is a good luck for Kevin

        But Antonio is tempting.
He has to be involved in goals

Having an absolute stinker of a season, could use some opinions on whether I should wildcard this bunch.

    Jaku, Heaton
Alonso, Koscielny, Cresswell (I don't know why), Funes Mori, Evans
Mane, Coutinho, Siggy, Ali, De Roon
Lukaku, Aguero, RONDON (out for Gabbiadini soon)

    Only have 1 FT.

My defense is weak but also my Midfield should get some improvements...

    Jaku
    McA, F. Mori, Robertson
    Haz, Mané, Firmino, Can/Carroll
    Aguero, Lukaku, Llorente

    (Mannone, Chambers, Amat, Can/Carroll)

    5.3 itb & 1 FT

    What should i do?
    a) Llorente -> Costa
    b) LIV MID -> Alli
    c) Chambers/Amat -> ?
    d) Safe FT

If i stay with this team:
    1) Play Can
    2) Play Carroll

Can to Josh King (and bench Carroll).

Add one of Coleman/Walker/Alonso to your defence next week.

Llorente to Costa in two weeks time (L's immediate mixtures are good).

This is part two of this dilemma. Some sage advice needed ...

Bench one of these (and which)?

Barkley (HUL) Mane (mci) King (SWA) Sigurdsson (bou) Sanchez (wba)
Llorente (bou) Lukaku (HUL) Carroll (LEI)

OR, play AOA and bench one of these (and which one)?

Valencia (mid) Coleman (HUL) Walker (SOU)

Tempted to take the risk on Vardy instead of going with the safety of Costa (Kane replacement for -4). Any encouragement out there to help me the roll the dice?
