In anticipation of the launch of further Fantasy games, community members have spent their time looking back to see what lessons they can learn from last season and continue to plot their strategies for the forthcoming season. As always, we also take time out to cast an eye over the community leagues and tournaments taking place this summer.
Hottest Topics
Sometimes the boundaries between fantasy football and art blur as The 3rd Turd has proved with this colourful look at player points accumulation over last season. The graph can be broken down by position, teams and individual players. Lots to take in and an amazing sight to behold.
Elsewhere,”uber debate” rumbles on, with those favouring an “uber cheap” defence as well as those looking at more expensive options, continuing to make impressive cases for their causes.
In Tommy We Trust has been flying the flag for the “ubers” and explaining about how the strategy can form part of a balanced side. Tommy has also been looking at three- way uber attacking options. While Daniel, who favours more investment in defence, arrived to rain on Tommy’s parade and look the pitfalls of going “uber”.
JCC is another cynic who has surfaced this week is; he has set about pouring scorn on those considering Michu as an option in 2013/14. There are quite simple other far better options, he argues.
Meanwhile The Parmtree has been gazing into his crystal ball to give a lengthy team by team analysis for the forthcoming season. This epic tome is in two parts, which can be seen here and here.
Our own hot topics have also been continuing and this week we asked to what extent fantasy football affects our mood and lives. We were surprised by how many admitted the psychological scars a bad Gameweek can leave.
Community Tournaments
FFS UEFA’s intriguing Transfer Window Simulation (TWS) game turned its attention to bids for strikers this week. Among the most successful teams, which are made up along Premier League club lines, were Aston Villa led by HVT, which welcomed Lionel Messi whilst Anorak‘s Spurs plotted the acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo. Meanwhile, Chelsea owned by Declan acquired the deadly duo of Falcao and Rooney, with Everton proudly purchasing the services of Edinson Cavani under Saniul‘s guidance. Still leading the game are Fulham, led by PeppieandFelix. The deadline for Transfer Window 1 is Saturday 2359 HRS BST, where clubs will look to trade players amongst themselves. Anyone who would like to join can sign up here.
