The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Four – Resumption

Back for 2013, fully refreshed, slightly rusty and balancing the same chips on our shoulders, Granville are I make a return to the podcast studio.

The New Year presents my beleaguered co-host with a 51-point gap to bridge as I spent Christmas “ho-ho-ing” about three midfield hat-tricks, leaving Granville to roll out one mighty miffed in this week’s episode.

Elsewhere, we pick at the double Gameweek buffet, eagerly scoffing on the Chelsea canapés whilst wondering if Rafa has hidden something nasty in the vol-a-vents. We rinse that down with the latest transfers in and out in “all aboard”, preview all the weekend fixtures and carry out the latest emergency surgery on the ailing ScoutCast team.

      Everton's fixtures are very nice, but I think Baines is more important than Fellaini, so wouldn't rush to have him as your fifth midfielder necessarily.
      
      Just thinking... are you planning on playing Gibbs and Begovic every week? If not, you can save 0.7m I think, by doing Bunn > Szczesny and Gibbs > Harte. Depends on how much you need that extra muller.

        begovic is my number 1 keeper i only got bunn as he is the cheapest on the game. bego to play every week i think.
        
        as a spurs fan i don't need much persuasion to get rid of an arsenal player, but gibbs has been burning me in my mini leagues with his assist getting potential.
        
        not sure harte poses the same threat, despite his great free kicks..?
        
        i really have tried all avenues to squeeze in fellaini.. but the thing is that this week i am happy with rvp ba and lambert, so even if i brought him in, i would have a the power 5 and a real headache on who to drop. would have to be walcott i guess

      Wigan may come good- Ive switched to McCarthy on my WC move.
      Think he has a better chance of picking up more points. Anyway..Its just a filler position to make room for the big boys!

  I'm playing my WC in 24 so it's a lot easier for me, I'd be more cautious if you won't be able to get rid easily, or your in the lead in your leagues.

If I don't get Ba in and all my rivals have him (which they do) as captain (which they will probably do) and he goes crazy it is effectively game over in all my mini leagues.

On the other hand if he does nothing and Torres gets a goal or two it will go a long way to help me start catching them.

Should I stick with Torres and pray or do Torres to Ba for a hit?

  I have the exact same dilemma. I've lost all faith in Torres, especially after (c)'ing him last week, and Rafa has already mentioned that he needs a rest.
  
  I think it's safe to say that Ba will start at least one game. But the hit is only worth it if he starts two. Bah!

  Wrong. Fellaini is coming off the back of a nice rest over Christmas whereas Michu has had/got a shit load of games is a short space of time. In theory Fellaini should be the fresher. Plus Everton have better fixtures.

    Michu has 13 PL goals, scored in Swans Cup and League Cup games in last week, he's their striker and in redhot form. Fellaini is class but is sharing goals with a few others in the Everton side and not as prolific as Michu. I'd say get both, still great value.

All worthy choices, is it really possible to call correctly over two games? There isn't one Che player nailed on for 180 mins but these three are all better shouts than anyone with just one game? Right? 😕

Made a spread sheet of all the player, working out their points per minute.

Here's the top 25, I filtered out players who had played less than 450 Mins and have times the points per minutes by 90 to give their average for a full 90 minutes:

  PPM x 90 is so flawed though and favours Solksjaer type players from the bench.
  
  For example, if a player scores once in every 3 games starting from the bench (and plays 20 mins in each game), then it looks like he scores a goal every 60 minutes. From an FPL point of view, it's 1,1,5.
