I would like to invite everyone to take part in a fun competition called the Dead Team Challenge, one of the easiest Fantasy Football games around.
HOW IT WORKS
The idea is simple, your aim is to build the highest scoring team for the whole season with the initial 100m budget at your disposal. It involves absolutely no effort after that. There are no transfers or captain changes at all throughout the season (i.e, it’s an actual dead team). You’ll want to make sure that you pick nailed on players only, and perhaps a consistent points scorer for captain, but I’m sure everyone will have their own strategies.
The maverick in you, however, might see this as the perfect opportunity to take some punts. Feel free to do that but be aware of the risks.
Unfortunately, if someone gets injured or dropped for any period of time during the season, then that’s it, you just have to hope that your bench is strong enough to cope with the loss.

What you need to do
Decide on your team, based on the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) pricing meaning you have exactly 100m to spend, so it is a legitimate start-of-the-season FPL team (you don’t have to spend it all, but you cannot exceed 100m).
Pick your preferred formation (any legal FPL formation is acceptable) with the correct sub order written below the team like this:

GK – MID DEF DEF
Pick your captain and your vice-captain. You can either write your choices below your team or you can put (C) and (VC) beside the players in question…
All the usual FPL rules are still valid, so only 3 players to a team etc…
WHEN YOU NEED TO DO IT
The deadline is set @ 15th August 11.30am BST (or one full day before the actual season GW1 deadline)… so please submit your team before then, and I would ask that you submit your team as a reply to this article, thank you…
SOME TECHNICAL STUFF
With the help of Billy the ‘Excel Whizzkid’ (Thanks Billy), I have engineered a spreadsheet document that will automatically calculate captain points and auto subs etc., upon the manual entry of players’ weekly scores, so once the initial squads are selected the game should run fairly smoothly.
As a result, you DO NOT need to enter this team into an actual FPL account, typing out here will suffice…
Anyone that has already submitted their team need not post their teams again…
However, anyone can alter their team up until the deadline, I would ask that you post your changes as a reply to your original post…
THE LEAGUE
At the end of the season we will see who picked the best dead team, and I will keep an updated league table on my spreadsheet to anyone who wants to check on their progress.
I will post regular/quarterly league updates to see who is doing well, and if there is enough interest then I might include a small prize for the winner.
I’m hoping that some of you pick an absolute gem of a team and finish inside the Top 10k or something, which would be a remarkable achievement for a dead team. Thanks and good luck.
