Double Gameweek 34 Announced for Hull and Liverpool

Hull have this morning confirmed a new date for their home clash against Liverpool, which was previously scheduled for Gameweek 33. The match, which was postponed after the Reds clinched a place in the FA Cup semi-finals last night, will now take place on Tuesday April 28 – meaning both sides will now have a double Gameweek 34.

With Chelsea and Leicester also poised for a double in the same week, Fantasy managers are handed four teams to choose from as they re-assemble their squads.

Liverpool also face a trip to the Hawthorns prior to their KC encounter, though QPR’s hammering of West Brom last weekend suggests few will be deterred from investing in Brendan Rodgers’ main men.

Doubts over Diego Costa’s hamstring injury may have some eyeing up Daniel Sturridge, though the Reds striker has done little to strengthen his case for inclusion – two goals in the last eight Gameweeks, in addition to ongoing hip problems, are hardly convincing. Jordan Henderson has struck four times in the last five league matches and will surely be sought after by many, whilst Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling are also in contention here.

At the back, Martin Skrtel will return from suspension in time for the double, boosting the prospects of a defence that has racked up seven clean sheets in the last 11 Gameweeks.

The Reds then have two very favourable home clashes in three (against QPR and Palace) directly after their double, with a visit to Chelsea sandwiched in between those Anfield encounters.

It’s fair to say that Hull will struggle to justify the investment, though. Granted, Steve Bruce’s side now have four home matches in the final five Gameweeks of the season but one look at the fixtures (cpl & LIV, ARS, BUR, tot, MUN) underlines the tough task at hand – only the visit of Burnley in Gameweek 36 looks promising. Given that they’ve picked up two points in the last five, the Tigers face a tough task ahead, though their spirited display in the 3-2 home defeat by Chelsea in Gameweek 30 suggests it would be unwise to write their main men off completely.

One thing I must do is not worry too much about those on here with wildcards. They're not my rivals and my rivals don't have wildcards so I'm in the same position as them.

No point taking huge hits for mass Leicester/Hull players in my case at least.

Draft league side decision...play Vardy (wba) or Fellaini (MANC) this week?

      Fellaini

I have him in my draft team too and am opting for him. Can see Utd getting at least 2 goals against city.

I think Pulis will expect a response following the QPR game, can see them shutting out Leicester.

    Template DGW 34:
Ivan, Hazard, Sterling, Coutinho, Sturridge, Schlupp

    Punty DGW 34:
Terry, Fabregas, Henderson, NDoye, Cambiasso, Schmeichel, Elmo!

Remy / Costa (if fit) somewhere between the two.

Best Liverpool Trio for the double

Who will you be drafting in for the Liverpool double and which are the best three options.

Skrtel, henderson and another here too.

I'm surprised that Sterling isn't my first pick but with position issues he's not hugely tempting just yet.

Will be Coutinho, Sterling or Sturridge for the third more than likely.

Mildly concerned now that there's going to be a lot of Henderson/Coutinho/Sterling/Sturridge purchasers this week - think they could go nuts against Newcastle. I was tempted to get one anyway but I also want Remy. Decisions, decisions.

One of the lessons I've learned from good gwks - of which one that has Chelsea and Liverpool playing is - is that hits are worthwhile. I'm not too bothered about taking an 8pt hit in gwk 34. But well done to wildcard holders - this is a key week to steal a march when many like me will be looking at 1-2 hits to get a good selection of Chelsea and Liverpool players together.

Luckily Liverpool's assets are far cheaper than Chelsea's so cost is not too much of an issue.

Will you be looking past Chelsea/Liverpool?

-4 here will get me 3 from each of those 2 but would need more over coming weeks for Leicester/Hull players. Doesn't seem worth it.

No...among many first rules of the dgwk is try and get as many players in that your rivals may captain. Can't see anyone captaining a Hull or Leicester player. Remy/Hazard/Sturridge/Coutinho are all options that week - although admittedly Hazard is the stand out.

This is a good way to look at it. Hadn't thought of it like that before. I anticipate myself and main mini league rivals to captain Hazard but would be nice to partially cover their (c) points by at least owning the others

I'm only looking at two. Since I'll probably have Ivan, Bertrand, Clyne, Bellerin & PvA as my defenders by then, doing Bellerin -> Skrtel wastes at least 6m on a benched defender per week.

Instead, I'll look at doing Krul -> Mignolet (also have Pantilimon) and Mane/Siggy -> Henderson.

As a Liverpool fan Coutinho and Sturridge are too inconsistent, especially considering Sturridge's pricetag. Sterling could be alright but he too is inconsistent in terms of FPL and his position changes more often than a girl changes clothes.

I guess that the most difficult issue playing DGW34 is which City and Arsenal players to keep. Don't want to ditch Silva nor Øzil, I think it's a good idea to keep at least one Arsenal player on the bench to economize on the FT's before DGW37.

Leicester? So does that mean Swansea also have a blank GW33?

No, I accidentally typed Leicester instead of Sunderland.

Villa and QPR also have a blank, Swansea don't

    Okay, the plan:

    Gw32: benteke + naughton > Murray + Moreno (-4)
    Gw33: save ft
    Gw34: eriksen + mane/agüero/krul > coutinho + other pool player
    Or
    Gw32: benteke > murray/Remy
    Gw33: save ft
    Gw34: eriksen + naughton > coutinho +skrtel

Head's wrecked, people in work think I'm stressing out over the job - not when to bring in Jordan Henderson.

unless you can field 11 decent players for blank then wait for dgw

The fact that I have 2 FTs this week and can't afford Austin to Remy is stressing me out. I can do Eriksen and Austin to Henderson and Remy, but it means playing 4-3-3 next week.

Slightly different question to the who are we getting for the double.

Will anyone NOT captain a Chelsea player? i.e Hazard. If so are you leading or chasing mini leagues?

I'm thinking of getting him in now, for Austin.

Newcastle (h) with an awful defence.

Is it worth -4 for Sturridge considering the DGW? If I did

    A) Giroud out

    B) Aguero out

    C) Not worth a hit

Currently have Panty and Foster as GK.

For the blank next week is worth using my FT to get in a playing keeper? Or just go without to save 2 FT for before the double?

Schmeichel for Foster looks obvious. Even if you count it as a hit he has a decent game in GW33 plus a double in GW34 and would have a hard time not repaying it. Plus he pairs well with Pantilimon for the rest of the season.
