The Community Round Up

Double Gameweek fever was in full swing this week as the likes of Charlie Austin, Matty Phillips and Christian Benteke racked up huge scores to whet the appetite ahead of double Gameweek 34. Our community writers and hot topics cast our eye over the impending doubles and we also see the launch of a new regular article, which looks back at the community’s best and worst mistakes in the Gameweek gone by. In our members tables we look in-depth at Liverpool’s best attacking assets and catch up on the ups and downs in our mini-leagues in light of Benteke and Austin’s exploits.

The Community Articles

This week we introduced the first in a regular series of articles looking at the community’s tales of woe and joy during the last Gameweek. With QPR and Aston Villa’s assets running riot there were plenty of tears being shed in our inaugural Rough with the Smooth article.

What better way to reward QPR’s two-goal double Gameweek hero Charlie Austin than handing him his P45? With Chelsea and a blank fixture over the next two Gameweeks many of his owners are considering ditching the striker, with JK on hand to look over the potential replacements. Chelsea’s Loic Remy is at the front of the queue of replacements for money, according to this article by PKWrona.

Benteke’s four goals made him the standout hero of Gameweek 31. Given The Puntmaster‘s excellent recent form in unearthing differentials, it was no surprise to see the Aston Villa man in his trio of punts last week. To see his predictions for low ownership success in Gameweek 32, click here.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article. Also watch out next week when we will be asking for your vote in our search for the best community article during March.

The Hottest Topics

As well as Charlie Austin, another striker that many are looking to ditch is Sergio Aguero, who has now gone five Premier League appearances without a goal. Despite his poor tallies, Andy85 says the Manchester City man is still worth keeping.

Another striker to come under Andy85’s watchful eye is Chelsea’s Loic Remy, who, in spite of competition for places, looks to be a risk worth taking, particularly with a double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa’s injury has propelled him into many other community members’ thinking, with Ruth NZ pointing out that he could be set to miss more than the next two Premier League matches.

While dumping the hamstrung Costa is a sensible move, RuthNZ went a bit more leftfield with an earlier post during the week in which he revealed plans to ditch this year’s budget striker sensation Harry Kane. Read his justification for this bold move here.

Although, with Liverpool and Hull joining Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 perhaps ditching the Spurs man may not be so hard to do, as competition hots up amongst the forward positions. Daniel Sturridge is among the Liverpool players that many are considering drafting in, according to our hot topic on the best Reds trio for Gameweek 34.

The Members Tables

For those considering Liverpool options, I’ve constructed this handy table looking at their most attacking options. Sorted by shots in the box, this has a global filter.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Spectrum won the Long and Winding Road’s prestigious FA Cup of Tea tournament this season, when he beat Mull in the final. Sticking with the Long and Winding Road , Simon Walsh has taken top spot from Greenwindmill in their main league.

Despite this disappointment Greenwindmill continues to lead the FFScout moderators and contributors league, but second placed Mark is edging closer and closed the gap to just 14 in Gameweek 31.

Ross Gillard is another surviving leader, and stays at the summit of the Top 1,000 Any Season league. Meanwhile in the Top 100 Any Season league Rohan Rees has snatched top place.

Choking Hazard hit the top score in Gameweek 31 with 100 in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 84 teams left after 33 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.

In RedLightning’s FFS January Wildcard League James 101 has taken the lead, meanwhile in his Top 10,000 Any Season league, Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit.

Meanwhile, in OFCProdigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, the Fantasy Football Scout picks continue in the lead with Mookie and Sticky Mockwell in close pursuit following Gameweek 31.

312th in UFPL seems kind of poor, no? Are people on here still playing? I will be tempted to not play next year. Super boring.

    Ivanovic - Bertrand - Bellerin
    Hazard (c) - Eriksen - Siggy - Moses - Mane
    Aguero - Kane

Hoping for a Kane blank and a Hazard haul to squeeze me into the top 1k for the first time. Best of luck this week lads.

I'm a Spurs fan and I really think we're properly shite after watching the last few games. I could see a 1-1 or something like that. Want to get rid of Kane soon, think he's going to taper off a bit

    - Need a striker for GW33
    - Good fixtures
    - Nailed to start
    - Possible DGW

Has to be Remy right? Not interested in Fabs or Double Chelsea defence...

Can this blow up in my face?

You think it has to be Remy or you think it can blow up? 🙂

All boxes ticked but nailed. Drogba on the sidelines and Costa get a run around

There is no way Costa is getting mins these next 2 weeks. Well at least that the impression I got from Jose

Who is more likely to score?

    (A) Benteke away to Spurs without Lloris, Walker and Vertonghen.

    (B) Austin at home to Chelsea

Benteke slightly more likely according to the bookies, but only a gnat's chuff in it

    Which sounds best?

    A) Aguero --> Rooney
    B) Austin --> Murray
    C) Austin --> Remy

    1. Kevtheotter

      B or C

Don't be getting rid of Kun as he plays the blank week at home! Possible cap

Henderson for me, Coutinho needs to be a tad more consistent and Henderson in the mix for set pieces and pens.

Neither, lull in form, weren't scoring much as a team anyway. :/

      No Giru is on fire!
Remy is deputising and not nailed.

      I have both

I'd keep Giroud over Remy this week. Which other GW33 blankers do you have?

I'd being doing Austin to giroud this week :/

And out again for the blank most likely

Currently have bellerin, caz and PVA blanking so it's easy to cover

I wouldn't want to use up a transfer on someone who hasn't got a GW34 DGW. Unless you've got a WC.

Could very well happen. But Austins blank next week swinged it for me.

Depends if you are planning to load up with DGWer or offload and clean up you team for the run in.
all depends on your current team.

Actually down because of the way the top of the steps overhangs

It's all because of this bit for me - http://imgur.com/tCvIVE9

That bit is overhanging. If it was going up it would be raised on the step - bit weird to walk on!

    Terry Ivanovic Clyne (PVA Dawson)
    Hazzy Cazorla Silva Eriksen (Cork)
    Kun Kane (c) Austin

WC for 34. Got 2 FT. Should I:

    A] Austin to Gomis
B] Terry and Austin to Bertrand and Remy
    C] Other, if so, what?
