The Community Round Up

Double Gameweek fever was in full swing this week as the likes of Charlie Austin, Matty Phillips and Christian Benteke racked up huge scores to whet the appetite ahead of double Gameweek 34. Our community writers and hot topics cast our eye over the impending doubles and we also see the launch of a new regular article, which looks back at the community’s best and worst mistakes in the Gameweek gone by. In our members tables we look in-depth at Liverpool’s best attacking assets and catch up on the ups and downs in our mini-leagues in light of Benteke and Austin’s exploits.

The Community Articles

This week we introduced the first in a regular series of articles looking at the community’s tales of woe and joy during the last Gameweek. With QPR and Aston Villa’s assets running riot there were plenty of tears being shed in our inaugural Rough with the Smooth article.

What better way to reward QPR’s two-goal double Gameweek hero Charlie Austin than handing him his P45? With Chelsea and a blank fixture over the next two Gameweeks many of his owners are considering ditching the striker, with JK on hand to look over the potential replacements. Chelsea’s Loic Remy is at the front of the queue of replacements for money, according to this article by PKWrona.

Benteke’s four goals made him the standout hero of Gameweek 31. Given The Puntmaster‘s excellent recent form in unearthing differentials, it was no surprise to see the Aston Villa man in his trio of punts last week. To see his predictions for low ownership success in Gameweek 32, click here.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article. Also watch out next week when we will be asking for your vote in our search for the best community article during March.

The Hottest Topics

As well as Charlie Austin, another striker that many are looking to ditch is Sergio Aguero, who has now gone five Premier League appearances without a goal. Despite his poor tallies, Andy85 says the Manchester City man is still worth keeping.

Another striker to come under Andy85’s watchful eye is Chelsea’s Loic Remy, who, in spite of competition for places, looks to be a risk worth taking, particularly with a double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa’s injury has propelled him into many other community members’ thinking, with Ruth NZ pointing out that he could be set to miss more than the next two Premier League matches.

While dumping the hamstrung Costa is a sensible move, RuthNZ went a bit more leftfield with an earlier post during the week in which he revealed plans to ditch this year’s budget striker sensation Harry Kane. Read his justification for this bold move here.

Although, with Liverpool and Hull joining Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 perhaps ditching the Spurs man may not be so hard to do, as competition hots up amongst the forward positions. Daniel Sturridge is among the Liverpool players that many are considering drafting in, according to our hot topic on the best Reds trio for Gameweek 34.

The Members Tables

For those considering Liverpool options, I’ve constructed this handy table looking at their most attacking options. Sorted by shots in the box, this has a global filter.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Spectrum won the Long and Winding Road’s prestigious FA Cup of Tea tournament this season, when he beat Mull in the final. Sticking with the Long and Winding Road , Simon Walsh has taken top spot from Greenwindmill in their main league.

Despite this disappointment Greenwindmill continues to lead the FFScout moderators and contributors league, but second placed Mark is edging closer and closed the gap to just 14 in Gameweek 31.

Ross Gillard is another surviving leader, and stays at the summit of the Top 1,000 Any Season league. Meanwhile in the Top 100 Any Season league Rohan Rees has snatched top place.

Choking Hazard hit the top score in Gameweek 31 with 100 in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 84 teams left after 33 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.

In RedLightning’s FFS January Wildcard League James 101 has taken the lead, meanwhile in his Top 10,000 Any Season league, Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit.

Meanwhile, in OFCProdigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, the Fantasy Football Scout picks continue in the lead with Mookie and Sticky Mockwell in close pursuit following Gameweek 31.

Kun to Sturridge (c) for this week. Could be an explosive differential that.

Best mid 5mil and under for rest of season to rotate with Boyd to scrounge money for many DGWers.

Is anyone considering Berahino for the next 2 weeks? Fixtures not too bad.

I was thinking about this earlier. Could be a good shout, I just need someone to take me to the WC in gw 34. Remy isn't appealing to me for some reason, my gut is telling me to keep Austin over him but I may be tempted to switch to Berahino

Think he's a really good option.

Might actually be the best non-Remy replacement for Austin

The only issue for me is that he's never been the type to get a big haul. When he scores it's usually just the 1, maybe with an assist thrown in. He is very consistent, but not explosive.

Ive had to abort as got to shift Cazorla next week and would want to bring Aguero back in so can't be done without a hit, if it didn't need a hit, I'd of done it.

I was thinking along the same lines. I could have got him this week but it would have needed 2 transfers. I thought Remy plus an extra transfer was the wiser move.

Hi all! Please excuse the long post, but I feel I must call upon the erudite sages of FFS for help. I am at 5K OR-- never been this high at this point in the season. It's my 4th year. In a dogfight to win my mini league, I am currently 7 points ahead. This community has been so much fun to read and so informative!

    Guzan Hamer

    Ivanovic Clyne PVA Janmaat Wasilewski

    Hazard Silva Mané Boyd Phillips

    Kane Agüero Austin

£6.5 in the bank. 1 FT. 1 WC.

The question is, to WC now or wait until GW 34? I was planning to WC this week, but now I am thinking it may be enough to do Austin to Remy/Murray, 1 transfer next, and WC 34? But not sure. I have 6.5 in the bank! My head swims with the intricacies of the upcoming fixtures and inscrutiable form of so many players. Thanks in advance!

      Congrats on the rank.

Don't wildcard, your team is in okay shape. Only downside is having to play Janmaat this week but I think you can ride it out until gw34 and really mix it up

So Austin to Remy and play 4-3-3 with Janmaat, and Guzan (tot). Then next week I'll have to do Guzan out for a playing goalie.

Wildcard in gw34 and have a good few dgw players, should pay off. Thats what im doing. Im currently 40 points behind in my mini league. My rival doesnt have a wildcard so im hoping to have 7 or 8 dgw players and bring back the 40 points in that week.

Ps i like your gravatar, what do you think of new york city fc, any chance of winning the MLS?

I don't think they'll win this year but they are looking very solid for a new club. Kreis and the FO know what they are doing and obviously the owner group does too! I was a Metro/Red Bulls fan but they never quite captured my heart and I am already all in with NYC.

Yeah had a good start to the season. I watch a few of their games on Sky Sports. Hopefully will do well anyway. Out of curiosity do you follow the other teams in the City Football Group or do you view NYCFC as its own identity and own club? I started watching NYCFC matches because I support Man City.

    Sanchez - Hazard - Eriksen - Mane
    Aguero - Remy - Kane

    Krul; Mahrez, Dawson, PvA

Keeping Vert for a couple more weeks until he becomes Skrtel. And if he's not back from his illness then Dawson can easily slot in 🙂 all 5 of my defenders have plum fixtures, it's tough to choose who starts!

CPL are scoring as many goals as Chelsea. The problem is that DGW.

I've no idea why Chelsea take their foot off the gas so often.

Chelsea are the joint highest scorers in the PL having played a game less.

They are the 4th highest scorers in this season's CL (3 goals less than Bayern and 1 less than RM and Porto).

Not bad for a team that "takes it's foot off the gas so often".
