Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Man City vs West Ham

After a stilted stalemate at the Hawthorns, it’s fair to say that we’re looking forward to some fireworks from the tea-time kick-off.

Manchester City host West Ham United at the Etihad as they bid to keep pace with Manchester United and Chelsea and make it three wins from three.

Pep Guardiola makes two changes, introducing Gael Clichy at left-back for Aleks Kolarov and handing a start to Nolito at the expense of Jesus Navas.

The Hammers are again without Dimitri Payet, with his absence surely set to lead to another mass exodus in FPL terms.

Slaven Bilic has changed shape in a bid to repeat last season’s victory in Manchester, recalling Angelo Ogbonna to a three-man rearguard.

Former Manchester United starlet, Ashley Fletcher, makes his first Premier League start up front in a 3-5-2 setup. Sam Bryam drops to the bench, whilst HΓ₯vard Nordtveit misses out through injury. Manuel Lanzini is fit enough for the bench.

All eyes will be Sergio Aguero – he heads into this encounter backed with the captaincy by 32% of FPL managers, just 1% less than Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who stalled with a two-point return at Hull on Saturday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Taking Aguero out is easy, you're more likely to need a WC to get him back πŸ˜‰

At least Milner is out of the England squad. Still no Mark Noble.

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster, Joe Hart, Tom Heaton
Defenders: Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Clyne, Phil Jagielka, Danny Rose, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, John Stones, Kyle Walker
Midfielders: Dele Alli, Michail Antonio, Eric Dier, Danny Drinkwater, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Wayne Rooney, Raheem Sterling, Theo Walcott
Strikers: Harry Kane, Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy

    Love the Drinkwater pick.

Current team as follows, after that last game it feels like the WC is necessary - any thoughts?

    Foster / Jak
    Shaw / Stones / Fuchs / Amat / Friend
    Haz / Lamela / Redmond / Barkley / Capoue
    Zlatan / Aguero / Gray

Fuchs needs to be shipped, obviously some ban risks in there as well...

I'd ideally like some Arsenal (likely Ozil/Cazorla) and/or Liverpool cover (Mane), which would probably require 2 or 3 swaps.

Gray and Aguero are obviously not looking great for the next few weeks either...

Don't know why people are chopping Aguero and Ibrahimovic, madness. At least wait for news on Aguero, nothing may happen, anyway what's people's opinions on this?

    Pickford - Jakupovic
    Valencia - Williams - Evans - Gibson - Amat
    Hazard - Özil - Antonio - Bolasie - Capoue
    Aguero - Ibrahimovic - Defoe

Other option is Foster/Gray. Have Foster currently so price isn't an issue and if Gray doesn't get suspended of course.

I heard Cazorla is taking some set pieces off Özil so that coupled with Sanchez having the bigger goal threat due to freekicks and a more advanced role makes me think Sanchez is worth the extra over Özil... Nice team though and I really like the Baines pick; on pens, playing a wing back role and Everton have nice fixtures!

      1. S.Kuqi
        • 11 Years

Thanks Litti. True about Cazorla taking some of set pieces lessens Özil's appeal but I don't think Sanchez is worth that price tag.
