The Stock Check – Gameweek 7 – Sunday

The Zlatan Ibrahimovic exodus is set to pick up pace after another blank at home to Stoke City. Dele Alli is in the goals as Spurs end Pep’s unbeaten run and Laurent Koscielny climbs the defender standings after a fortuitous clincher at Turf Moor.

On the Rise

Heung-Min Son
After notching a midweek Champions League winner in Moscow, the South Korean caught the eye yet again as Spurs ended City’s 100% Premier League record under Pep Guardiola.

Deployed as the lone striker, Son laid on the assist for Tottenham’s second and now has four goals and two assists in just four appearances – that’s already more than his output (four goals, one assist) for 2015/16.

Notably, Son also challenged Erik Lamela for Spurs second half spot-kick, missed by the Argentine.

Subject to over 56,000 transfers in already in the Gameweek – more than any player – he continues to look Spurs’ main threat in the ongoing absence of Harry Kane.

Dele Alli
Overshadowed by Son’s recent displays, the Spurs starlet has stepped up his consistency over the last few Gameweeks. After dropping from 8.5 to 8.2, Alli’s goal means he has scored or assisted in three of the last four, offering FPL managers yet another in-form option in the centre of the park.

Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman may have been fortunate with Sunday’s winner at Turf Moor, but his 15-point Fantasy Premier League haul has now catapulted him to the top of the defender rankings, 10 ahead of team-mate Hector Bellerin.

Koscielny has now netted twice in the last four, and with home encounters against Swansea City, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth, allied with a trip to Sunderland in the next six, additional clean sheets look on the cards.

Theo Walcott
While Alexis Sanchez suffered a rare blank, Walcott earned the assist for Koscielny’s last-gasp winner to maintain his recent output.

Walcott has now scored or assisted in five of the opening seven Gameweeks and, at a price of 7.6, is just seven points behind the 11.2-priced Chilean.

Having also netted both goals in the midweek Champions League win over FC Basel, the Gunners winger is becoming increasingly influential.

Virgil Van Dijk
Overshadowed by full-back pair Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand in the previous two fixtures, the Dutchman served a reminder of his potential by grabbing the maximum bonus points away to Leicester.

Van Dijk has produced almost twice the number of clearances, blocks and interceptions than any defensive team-mate and also leads the way at the back for efforts on goal.

Claude Puel’s side now have six successive shut-outs in all competitions, though with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the next five, the short-term schedule is somewhat taxing.

Joe Allen
The summer signing netted for the second successive Gameweek after bagging Stoke’s leveller at Old Trafford. Allen also scored at home to West Brom last weekend and, at a price of just 4.8 in FPL, is shaping up to be a viable value option as the fixtures turn in the Potters’ favour.

Daley Blind
Stationed at left-back once again, the Dutchman managed to pick up two bonus points at home to the Potters thanks to his all-round contribution. Blind has now produced 14 points in his two outings as a full-back, suggesting that a fit Luke Shaw will face a battle to regain a starting role.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
It’s one goal and a single assist in five for the United striker after Sunday’s blank in the stalemate with Stoke.

Ibrahimovic has dropped 0.4 in price in the last two Gameweeks and with the international break now upon us; the exodus is already picking up speed ahead of back-to-back trips to Liverpool and Chelsea.

Over 56,000 FPL managers have parted company since the passing of yesterday’s deadline as the clamour for in-form midfield assets intensfies.

Aleksandar Kolarov
The Serbian retained his starting role despite an abject midweek display against Celtic. Sunday’s early own goal perhaps sums up Kolarov’s current lack of self-belief – with one clean sheet in seven now for City, Pep Guardiola will surely be considering a recall for Gael Clichy as he looks to bounce back from his first Premier League defeat.

Vincent Janssen
Dropped to the bench against City, it’s clear that Mauricio Pochettino has identified Heung-Min Son as the central striker in the absence of the injured Harry Kane. We may have been gifted an excellent new value option in midfield, but, in Janssen, we appear to have missed out on a new option up front.

Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy
While the goalless draw means that the Foxes have conceded just once in four home league fixtures, the Leicester City pair yet again failed to serve up the points.

Mahrez now has one assist in six and Vardy has netted twice in the first seven – both are still found in 14% of FPL squads, but we can surely expect extended sales over the break.

Sanchez or Walcott to bring in this week? Can afford both. I know Sanchez seems obvious answer but he was benched after last international week.

If you can afford Alexis - it`s no brainer choose. Just don`t captain him vs Swansea if not confident that he will start.

Depends on what else you could do for the money. Longterm Sanchez will outscore Wally, but shortterm both are good options

Not bothered about the extra money. I won't spend it so it's literally a straight shoot out. I plan to get both of them, it's just which of them to bring in first.

If it's a straight choice, it's a no brainer. Sanchez.

I'm intrigued why you wouldn't spend the money elsewhere though.

Don't want expensive defenders. Cleansheets aren't happening. Only Kos I'm remotely interested in.

If I get sanchez I can achieve the following front 7 going into next week:

            Firm Sterling Antonio Sanchez Son
            Aguero Lukaku

Plan is to make Antonio > Walcott after antonion plays sunderland.

I'm going for a similar thing, but my end result would be that mid with Wally and heavy defs - cleans gonna come back.

              Hopefully Wally maintains his spot.

Currently have Sanchez Sterlilng Firmino Antonio, gonna use the 2FTs to get Diomande and Wally for Deeney and Fletcher.

Forgot to add - I'd rather have both Son+Wally than 1 of those with Sanchez. Sanchez gonna outscore them, no doubt, but if they solidify their respective spots in the squad I think bot Son+Wally will end as better value than Sanchez.

I think the game is about value, but I'm not completely sure 😉

I guess it depends on your moves with your wider team, Sess. Huge difference in pricing means that if you're in a place where you need the flex (e.g. need Kun back), Walcott is your man; if not, Sanchez is likely to outscore over the season.

Sanch plays his final international on Tuesday night for Chile, so hopefully he'll be back ok for Swansea; Walcott also in international team so I wouldn't worry too much about internationals impeding the change.

Maybe wait til after internationals, listen to AW's presser prior to the games then decide - but Sanch over Theo long term I'd say

Cool, cheers man. Good answer. Sanchez rising tonight and I need every penny I can get at moment for future planned moves.

Saying that I can afford him to rise so maybe I just let him with Walcott also rising and then give myself until next week to make moves as transfers should start slowing down after today.

Hey Sess! No worries, try to give people a good answer that isn't just one word!

If you're pinching the pennies, I'd be tempted by Walcott at 7.7 to be honest, still great value, he'll only rise up a little more... gives you 3.5 wiggle room, and we know that Theo IS an option if he's playing, which he seems to be. Plus there's always the uncertainty over internationals (I'm holding my 2FTs til next Thur/Fri, zzz) because of injuries and fatigue.

Just my 2c anyway, I know there's an allure about Sanchez (which I've obviously fallen in to, cos I have him!) so if you feel like you wana risk do him today, but I'd not risk it myself...

The allure with sanchez this season is him playing up front. Seems to be a lot more involved and his haven't to track back and drop deep all the time, which is why I didn't get him earlier in the season. I love Walcott in terms of fpl though and he seems outrageously good value. Maybe I should have just stuck to my original plan and got both, ignoring Son.

Agreed 100% - that's why I thought he was essential for me, before Wally emerged as an option. And what an option. He's just so direct and gets points most games, and is explosive; perfect. The more I talk to you about it the more I want Walcott too, now, though I have Bellerin coming in as my double up haha...

I'm ignoring Son for now. Can't fit him into my midfield yet 🙁

Trying to get something right after a terrible start to the season:

    Foster (Jaku)
    Stones Valencia Evans Friend Amat
    Firmino Sterling Sanchez Antonio Capoue
    Ibra Deeney Defoe 2.6

    Have 2 FT:

    A. Valencia, Ibra > Koscielny, Kun
    B. Valencia, Ibra > Bellerin, Kun (as everyone will go Koscielny now)
    C. Valencia, Antonio, Ibra > Koscielny, Son, Kun (-4)

I'm doing Bellerin in for the exact reason you say (everyone will get Kosc). He's more likely to drip feed assists than the occassional Kosc goal, imo, plus he'll be a really good differential in Arsenal's upcoming fixtures, will be like having an extra Ars midfielder (hence the 6.5)

I'd do Ibra -> Kun here as your other move. Just got to be done.

What to do with this team? 1 FT, ready to take hits (repost from previous page, sorry).

    Foster / Pickford
    Williams / Stones / Lovren / A.Smith / Amat
    Mane / Payet / Hazard / Snod / Capoue
    Ibra / Lukaku / Benteke

    1) Hazard, Ibra, Benteke → Sanchez, Kun, Diomande (-8)

    2) Hazard and Ibra → Walcott and Kun (-4)

    3) Hazard, Ibra → Sanchez, Costa (-4)

    4) Another option

Hey man, I'd say #2 is a good bet here, makes your team look quite nice.

I'd avoid Costa in now, even though I'm an owner, as he's at 4ycs so you might have to ship him straight out.

And you want Tekkers over Diomande.

Which transfer move would you suggest ?

    (Continue with 3-4-3)
    A) Rashford -> Wilson
    B) Rashford + Antonio -> Wilson + Son

(Switch to 3-5-2 with Diomande benched and Snoddy 5th mid.)
    C) Rashford + Capoue -> Diomande + Snodgrass
    D) Rashford + Capoue + Antonio -> Diomande + Snodgrass + Son (-4)
    E) Rashford + Capoue + Williams-> Diomande + Snodgrass + Monreal/Mustafi (-4)

    Team atm:

    Heaton Pickford
    Walker Williams Holebas Kelly Amat
    Sanchez Sterling Firmino Antonio Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku Rashford

Tough at the moment - definitely wait until after internationals. But then think about the long game after that...

I think you need an Arsenal defender (along the lines of E); any way you can put Rashford down to Diomande and get Monreal/Mustafi in? Capoue will be fine as a playing 5th mid until the end of his run of fixtures, or you can use the released funds from that move to do other moves later on.

    So say goodbye to:

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    Ibra replacements

Blank against Leicester at home. Blank against Stoke!. That's right Stoke.

I've seen enough. It's time for Zlatan to go (although I'm sure he'll see it as time for him to ditch us 😉 )

But who do we replace him with?

The good news is that we can replace him with anyone we want, except of course Aguero. But he's in all our teams anyway, well most of our teams.

    Here's a few choices

For Form fans it has to be Costa. The best route into Chelsea points now...and he's beginning to learn how to pick up bonus. Those yellows and those fixtures are tricky though.

For fixture fans Defoe puts forward a good case for inclusion. Frees up funds too.

Then there's Benteke for those who favour the - get someone in who plays West Ham next -policy, which has been successful so far.

It was easier two weeks ago - his shots on targets were poor. They've been really good the last two though. Really I have no idea why he didn't do better. Certainly had the chances.

He's getting so many attempts though which is why his shots on target rate is high - but yes, I've seen highlights of the last two and some of those misses are well below the standards you would expect from him. Costa, Aguero would have out those away. Benteke and Defoe too.

That's the problem. I want to sell him, but for who? The options are all very meh, and pale in comparison to keeping Ibra, so may just hold on to him. Won't drop more than 0.1

I've got diomonde in and going 5 in midfield. Apart from costa, who I don't own, no one else excites up front so I've gone diomonde and will beast the midfield.

Costa seems the obvious because I have Benteke already.

But those funds would allow Capoue or Fer to be upgraded without destroying my defence.

Benteke and Defoe on my short list - together with Austin if needing cash. Costa would be Lukaku replacement - think he'll have a great season, despite the yellows an inevitable bans.

Be tempted to try to pick up Tekkers if I was replacing Ibra (which I'm not, as I have Costa Kaku Kun front 3; assuming most have Kaku and Kun, though) so I could maximise other areas of the pitch (e.g. no good midfielders below 7.3 except maybe Snodgrass means that you need more moolah elsewhere as it currently stands).

Also Callum Wilson is in with a shout for me - good fixtures, and I like him in games vs. teams around him, w/ Hull up next (he scored a hattie for me before he got injured last year)

Chaz Austin for GW8 vs. Burnley another..

I wouldn't go Costa if you were bringing him in new as he's on 4ycs.

You're comment on Ibra on the scout mission article was a bit harsh wasn't it?

We’re anticipating a case of damage limitation for Mark Hughes’ men and those who have sheepishly ushered Zlatan to the exit.

      You're joined the herd now?

In fact I have the opposite view after seeing him in Europa Cup action, which is why I got Sanchez in. Ibra just didn't look like captain material even against Stoke - which was sadly proved right.

Ah well, then forget my comment :). I thought it was very cynical when I read it. To ship out a ManU striker who is owned by +50% does not seem very sheepish to me at all.

I think I'm going to keep him. I'm captaining Kun from now on, but Pool and Chelsea are shaky and there's nobody I fancy has more chance to score than Ibra out of the strikers on any given week.

I'd drop him if I was getting Sanchez, but I can wait a week post-internationals to do that.

I'm still tempted to keep. I need to sell one of Ibra or Hazard and to be honest I'm scared stiff of moving either. I own Aguero and Benteke already, so it has to be Lukaku or getting Costa back who I only sold a few weeks ago..!

My preferred route is still to sell Haz and Antonio to bring in Walcott and Sterling to free up some cash.

If only Zlatan had buried that chance on 90 seconds when he was clean through I'm sure it would have been a rout.

Gutted me this GW, 34 points I was so confident of a big score.. 🙁

Another consideration is him being played in the Europa. You would well have thought he would be rested for that one. He looked jaded yesterday. With a rest I'm sure he would have stuck a couple away. Maybe he will be rested next time, maybe he won't, but it's a factor in things at the moment.

Strongest combo? I have 2ft and looking to upgrade Dio or Capoue so I dont have to play Capoue all the time.
    A) Sterling + Capoue (Diomande sub)
    B) Son + Fer (Diomande sub)
    C) Milner+Austin (Capoue sub)
    D) Snodgrass+Deeney/Defoe (Capoue sub)
    E) Walcott+Austin + downgrade Baines to Holebas-4 (Capoue sub)

As a non sanchez or ibra owner & mane captainer I was so lucky yesterday. Steadily ticking over up to 102 k now. Time to start buying spurs players I think...

      Good man!

I captained Costa over Sanchez last minute - no Sterling or Ibra here, so was so worried. Finally up out of the doldrums!

I got Walker CS too which was nice 🙂

      Arsenal defenders in for me...

Good work. I like your thinking, walker & Walcott are tempting.

I am thinking Aguero, Austin, Deeney

    Please help.

Kinda hard to predict you know. But Austin is a major red flag only cos he still isn't starting and ending games so there's some concern over his game time.

Hmm, not 100% sure of that

Maybe Kun Deeney Kaku? Not too enthused by Austin; Kaku is better, 2 good games after City so I wouldn't ignore him.

I am going with Aguero Defoe Deeney I think, though possibly will get Austin over Deeney if I'm desperate for some money elsewhere

Ok so thinking of either a -4 or -8 for the below, which do you prefer:

    a) Ibra, Kone & Capoue > Austin, Bellerin & Son

    b) Ibra & Kone > Bellerin & Benteke

with option be the striker can be anyone up to 9.5 if neccessary

    Thanks,

    Foster / JAKU
    Walker/ Lovren/ Smith/ Holebas/ BAINES
    Sanchez/ Firmino/ Antonio/ Capoue/ Snodgrass
    Aguero/ Lukaku/ Deeney

Have 2 FT and 0.1 ITB, planning to sell Jaku (4.1) and Baines (5.5). Any good suggestion? Thanks !

When is the right time to use your Wildcard??

I have no impending issues but with the 2 week break this could be a good idea to jump on the price rises to increase TV,

Well, if you're going well.... hold it until you have a big fire to put out. You might need it over internationals if there's injuries - always a great trump card to be able to pull out if your fellow ML managers are having to make hits/changes to deal with injuries or changes in team fixtures/form

I already did Sterling - Walcott for GW8. I wasn't convinced with him at all. Moreover, I have aguero. I think Sterling delivers when KBD is on the pitch and he can make those blistering runs ahead.

On the other hand, Walcott is going to be on a similar role to Sterling but with better fixtures and form. I was also thinking of Antonio - Son for 2 weeks (Gw8- West Brom (A) and Gw9 - Bournemouth (A)) and then Swapping him out for Lallana (GW 8- United (h), GW9 - West Brom (H))

    Suggestions/Feedback welcomed !

Bit of an early move - international breaks can throw up all sorts of injuries!

However, Antonio is on my list for removal, too, think West Ham are the current whipping boys and I reckon Palace, with Pardew manager, will want to beat them. Son a good move.

Wait until after internationals before making that move, though!!
