FFS Cups – Results & Second Round Draws

This afternoon we reveal who has made it through to the second round of both our Fantasy Premier League cup competitions.

In our open to all cup, reigning champion A Manager Has No Name saw off Flying Nugget 50-41 despite being more than 30,000 behind him in the overall rankings going into the clash.

The enigmatically-titled victor, who is placed at 30,453, now has himself another tricky tie, against community regular Krul runnings, who is 9,490 places above him.

He wasn’t the only cup winner to progress, with both Mark and I overcoming Sleep Talk and Virus in the mind respectively.

Mark, who is 472nd in the rankings, now faces 7,717-placed Jimmyt281, while I’ve got my work cut out to defeat 76,423-ranked Not Much Klopp, given my lowly 355,537 placing.

Former champions Donnellyc, Gribude and Wild Rover also prevailed. Of this trio, 323,577-placed Donnellyc has arguably the toughest encounter when he squares up to the 7,798-ranked SpartaBhoy.

Meanwhile, 67,661-placed Gribude faces 5,199-ranked Footopia and Wild Rover takes on Kabukkinen, who at 25,793, is 18,154 places ahead of our community’s resident Blackburn fan.

Sadly, we say goodbye to former winner MCH at this stage, who was defeated 49-42 by upthemiddle.

In the first round’s live Hall of Fame top ten derby, Philman, who is 1,071 in the overall standings and seventh in our list of all-time best FPL managers, lost 68-34 to Dronny Imp (aka David Meechan), who is tenth in our elite listings and has moved up to 7,275 in the world.

Legomane, who is 3,755 places behind David, has drawn the short straw to become this top manager’s next opponent.

Another to fall victim to the fixture list is FetchUp, who is placed 8,461 in the world but next faces Hana, who at 52 overall is the competition’s highest-ranked manager.

The full second round draw can be found here.

Meanwhile, in the Members’ Cup former winner Trigg, who is 134,835 in the world, won a close encounter with Bangkok Canary 59-53 and next takes on 56,151-ranked Fenghh.

FFScout Members’ League leader and 34th-placed Billy Ketsu was another victor. After overcoming Emckay, he now encounters Doctor101, who is ranked 56,236.

Other eye-catching ties include Jafooli’s clash with another community regular VS10, while Hana makes it through in this contest as well and takes on FFScout moderator Spencer .

The full second round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved, and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes simply click this link.

Final WC attempt? Decided I'll keep Alonso.

    Valdes (Pickford)
Walker • Valencia • Alonso (Stones • Yoshida)
Sanchez • Alli • Coutinho • Sane (de Roon)
    Ibrahimovic • Lukaku • Origi

Origi to become Gabbi when fit.

        Heaton Jaku
        Walker Valencia Alonso Pieters Evans
        Siggy J.king Antonio Mane Capoue
        Costa Lukaku Kun

Awful midfield and attack following the carry on in 26-28

Alternatively I'm going 3-5-2 with this lot:

        Hennessey (Jaku)
Walker • Valencia • Stones (Chambers • Yoshida)
        Sanchez • Alli • Coutinho • Sane • Eriksen
        Ibrahimovic • Lukaku (Barnes)

I have gone with 3 up top all season.

          I like this option.

Think King has equal if not better chance vs Liverpool than Lukaku vs United, Liverpool tend to play with a little bit more open and some times a little to high pressure style especially vs teams like Bournemouth and KIng has quality to exploit those spaces, United will do the same treatment to Lukaku as Liverpool did saturday, putting either Carrick or Fellaini in the slot in front of they´re CBs to nullify the space Lukaku needs to be dangerous. So, Im with you on that note

But I am probably a bit biased, since i already got rid of Lukaku before saturdays match, with exactly that reasoning that both Liverpool and United would contain Lukaku, not allow him to operate where he is best.

Aguero owners sell him at your peril 😉

What if i told you Aguero has been involved in 15 goals in only 19 premier league starts this season ( 13 goals 2 assists)

He faces a chelsea side without a cleanie in 7 matches followed by HUL sot

        1. Holmes
          • 10 Years
          7 years, 2 months ago

Nah, just means that he isnt explosive enough... Scoring 1 goal a game is not going to hurt our ranking, look at Costa, never hurts the ranks even after doing well.

          1. Deulofail
            • 8 Years
            7 years, 2 months ago

Hmmm hard to buy into that. 1 goal a game will get more bonus than an explosion every now and then with the same goals per game ratio. And It means you won't be making silly transfers, chasing explosions that never come

            1. Holmes
              • 10 Years
              7 years, 2 months ago

So you think not having Costa is going to hurt someone's rank? I dont think so, never backfired.

Never going to captain Aguero/Costa because they are 1 goal at best nowadays... They arent getting enough bonus either, struggling for even 1BPs

They might be getting points on consistent basis but its not going to hurt the rank by any means.

              1. Deulofail
                • 8 Years
                7 years, 2 months ago

Costa has been my best player this season. Without him my rank would be much worse for sure. They both still have the potential to explode. Just so happens that they haven't really. That's all I can say

Fair enough, being a forever non-Costa/Chelsea/Spurs defender owner, I have never dropped in rank because of their scores, maybe in some weeks where Alonso got 10 plus pts...

    3. Qubit

What if i told you that in its been 10 games in which he's played 45 mins or more since he scored double figures? (making him a more expensive Costa effectively.) Hmmm, he's in my team but doubtful he'll stay much longer.....

Just for the record i dont buy into a lot of the stuff surrounding 'explosiveness', but so far under Pep its fair to say he doesn't really look like returning points like he used to.

        1. bench boost for every gamew…
          • 7 Years
          7 years, 2 months ago

It is always pros and cons when we assess what we call "consistent returns" or "explosiveness" regarding to players. I like to think of it as a part of different strategies/ approaches to the game we have and very often those can be affected by the situation we are in atm, consollidating lead, chasing lead etc, and there are about thousands of "routes" to both success and failiers so its a little bit pointless to say which will be best, because the variables is more than just one. My point is that our wiew on these things reflects into our own approaches and to a lesser extent to what "kind" of players we are both in plays and life in general.

Just to add to the ongoing dispute; Aguero will very soon have double figure, that´s not if but when

play Ashley Barnes (STK) or Josh King (liv)?

    --OR--

(and don't laugh too hard until you think about it a bit),

play both and bench Lukaku (mun)? i think he will blank at Old Trafford. Barnes
and King could both produce some returns, imo.

Planning a bit far ahead but ideally the remainder of the season will go as follows:
    GW31
    DeGea (Pickford)
    Walker Alonso Gibson Valencia (Holgate)
    Sanchez Alli Coutinho (King, deRoon)
    Lukaku Vardy Origi

GW32: Coutinho, Vardy -> Sane, Aguero (-4) for the Hull game and extra fixture
DGW34: deGea, Lukaku -> Valdes, Ibra
    DGW35: Gibson, Origi -> Yoshida, Gabbiadini (-4)
    GW36: Valdes -> Caballero
    DGW37: Ibra -> Kane

    Main questions are
    a) Am I safe without Liverpool/Lukaku coverage in the final weeks?
    b) Will Jesus rise before the end of the season or is Aguero safe?
    c) Should I go -8 to get Ibra in 32 and avoid the hit later and gamble on Lukaku dipping/Ibra firing?

Any way I can crowbar Ben Davies into this team for -4 hit? (for Baines or PvA)

I'm not over the moon that I am starting both Carroll AND Siggy for this GW.

    Foster
    Valencia - Alonso - Robertson
    Alexis - Dele - Couts - Siggy
    Lukaku - Costa - Carroll

      i wouldn't, not for a hit.

your 3 defenders are ok, Andy Carroll could give Arsenal fits in the air without Koscielny (he hat-tricked them last year) . . . and Siggy is Siggy . . . on corners, free kicks, and penalties . . . anything could happen with him.

It's near impossible to balance the Europa Leaue and the Premier League so it is understandable. That being said, with the money United spent, and this narrative that Mourinho is the world's best, they should've competed for the title.

    Hi everyone, please help me:

    A) Costa out, Vardy in (only for GW31 SUN).
    B) Costa out, Ibra in (keep him until the end of the season).
    C) Keep Costa only for GW31 (MCI), then I'll drop him for Ibra.

All comments will be appreciated, thanks!

Just tell me that Costa --> Ibra not worth it for a -4... I am tempted, just feel that Ibra could either smash Everton or blank like United always do nowadays.

0FT, 0.4m ITB. Anything worth a hit here?

    Jaku (Foster)
    Alonso Davies Valencia Brunt (Lenihan)
    Sanchez Coutinho Alli Siggy (Snoddy)
    Costa Lukaku (Llorente)

Is there any websites where you can 'sandbox' you team? i.e test out players in your team for a specifi game week without doing real transfers etc. i know Fantasy football fix has a similar thing but not what I'm after.

Yeah it's really annoying you can't skip ahead a gameweek (or more) and see how your team would line up. Any advice appreciated!

yeah, he might be, but he has let me down quite a bit of late so it could be the right moment to change it up

    A. Ibra

    B. Vardy

    C. Hold

    Sell Llorriente for Origi?

Worth a 4 point hit to get Origi in this week? If not, I would have a play either Antonio (injured), Llorriente (injured), Mawson (v Spurs), or Allen (v Burnley)

    Worth it?

With sturridge return close think your swapping one problem for another. Keep and reassess this week.
